      • The Welfare and Sectoral Adjustment Effects of Mega-Regional Trade Agreements on ASEAN Countries

Le Tien Dat 한국무역학회 2017 한국무역학회 국제학술대회 Vol.2017 No.11

When developing training programs, the perceptions of trainees with regard to how to organize and delivery the training should be investigated. Factors relating to the training programs, such as the length of the program, the number of sessions, and most importantly the target audiences are considered to have significant effect to the training effectiveness perceived by participants. Potential issues with training delivery and administration should always be gauged and addressed, as not doing so may negatively impact on the training effectiveness. This paper investigates the perceptions of Vietnamese small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) potential and current exporters with regard to the delivery and organization of training programs on international managerial skills. Given the importance of Vietnamese SMEs in supporting sustainable, diversified and long-term economic growth, a wide range of policies and programs have been developed to support SMEs. However, to improve the effectiveness of these training programs, aspects with regard to training organization and delivery should be highly considered to meet the actual needs of SME managers. In this study, the perceptions of SME managers were explored by using qualitative interviews with 58 SME managers in three big cities of Vietnam, including Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC). The research outcomes are expected to be helpful for SMEs, training providers and government agencies in organizing suitable training programs for SMEs. Further, the study is also expected to make contribution to the body of knowledge on human resources (HR) development of SME sector in developing countries.

아세안 상위 10개 항공사의 집중 및 분산과정의 종단적 분석

        Chen Jiarong,Dat Le Tien,여기태(Gi-Tae Yeo) 한국국제상학회 2021 國際商學 Vol.36 No.1

Purpose : Airline transportation is an important industry contributing to the development of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). This research aims to analyze the longitudinal development of the top 10 airlines in ASEAN. Research methodology : The Herfindahl-Hirschman Index (HHI), concentration ratio (CR), Gini coefficient, and shift-share analysis (SSA) index using the passenger throughput were selected as research methods. Results : The following results were obtained: first, the CR3 index indicated the mixed situation of concentration and decentralization, as the CR3 index fluctuated from 0.39 to 0.48. In 2011, the top three airlines’ power was lowest, and the remaining companies shared more passengers. Second, the results of the HHI and Gini indices show the trends of concentration and deconcentration in mixed way. Finally, the shift– share effects analysis results indicate that AirAsia Airlines, which had a shift effect of 13.97 million people and the absolute growth (ABSGR) value of 20.18 million people, had the best performance. Conclusions : Using a well-established methodology, this study provides a panoramic picture of the situation of airline companies in ASEAN from 2010 to 2018.

Enhanced adsorption of cationic and anionic dyes using cigarette butt-based adsorbents: Insights into mechanism, kinetics, isotherms, and thermodynamics

Tran Thi Kieu Ngan,Le Van Thuan,Nguyen Tien Hoang,Doan Van Dat,Vasseghian Yasser,Le Hoang Sinh 한국화학공학회 2023 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.40 No.7

The present study provides an eco-friendly and economical way to recycle discarded cigarette butts (CBs). The raw CBs were treated with NaOH (CB-B) and integrated with chitosan (Cs), and further applied as an adsorbent for the removal of synthetic dyes. Two common cationic dyes of methylene blue (MB) and crystal violet (CV) and one anionic dye of reactive blue 19 (RB 19) were selected as model adsorbates. The study results revealed that CB-B showed a high adsorption ability toward cationic dyes, while the CB-B/Cs composite exhibited a stronger affinity for the anionic RB 19. The adsorption of all selected dyes onto CB-B and CB-B/Cs was a spontaneous exothermic process, conforming to the pseudo-first-order kinetic and Langmuir isotherm models. The maximum adsorption capacities for MB, CV and RB 19 at pH of 7, an adsorbent dosage of 4, and a temperature of 25 °C were 89.85, 82.41, and 304.49 mg/g, respectively. The primary adsorption mechanism was physical adsorption with the participation of electrostatic attraction. The CB-based adsorbents displayed high reusability, maintaining more than 75% after four consecutive cycles of reuse. This study demonstrates the promising application potential of CB-based adsorbents for treating synthetic dyes in wastewater. The conversion of CBs into a useful high-value material has special significance for environmental engineering.

BONEcheck: A digital tool for personalized bone health assessment

        Dinh Tan Nguyen,Thao P. Ho-Le,Liem Pham,Vinh P. Ho-Van,Tien Dat Hoang,Thach S. Tran,Steve Frost,Tuan V. Nguyen 대한골다공증학회 2023 Osteoporosis and Sarcopenia Vol.9 No.3

Objectives: Osteoporotic fracture is a significant public health burden associated with increased mortality risk and substantial healthcare costs. Accurate and early identification of high-risk individuals and mitigation of their risks is a core part of the treatment and prevention of fractures. Here we introduce a digital tool called 'BONEcheck' for personalized assessment of bone health. Methods: The development of BONEcheck primarily utilized data from the prospective population-based Dubbo Osteoporosis Epidemiology Study and the Danish Nationwide Registry. BONEcheck has 3 modules: input data, risk estimates, and risk context. Input variables include age, gender, prior fracture, fall incidence, bone mineral density (BMD), comorbidities, and genetic variants associated with BMD. Results: Based on the input variables, BONEcheck estimates the probability of any fragility fracture and hip fracture within 5 years, subsequent fracture risk, skeletal age, and time to reach osteoporosis. The probability of fracture is shown in both numeric and human icon array formats. The risk is also contextualized within the framework of treatment and management options on Australian guidelines, with consideration given to the potential fracture risk reduction and survival benefits. Skeletal age was estimated as the sum of chronological age and years of life lost due to a fracture or exposure to risk factors that elevate mortality risk. Conclusions: BONEcheck is an innovative tool that empowers doctors and patients to engage in wellinformed discussions and make decisions based on the patient's risk profile. Public access to BONEcheck is available via https://bonecheck.org and in Apple Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android).

Degradation of Triazole Fungicides by Plant Growth-Promoting Bacteria from Contaminated Agricultural Soil

        Luong Thi Tham,Nguyen Thi Hong Tham,Nguyen Tien Dat,Le Van Toan,Pham Thi Hong Trang,Ho Thanh-Tam,Nguyen Ngoc-Loi 한국미생물·생명공학회 2024 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.34 No.1

The widespread application of triazole fungicides (TFs) in agricultural practices can result in the considerable accumulation of active compound residues in the soil and a subsequent negative impact on the soil microbiota and crop health. In this study, we isolated three TF-degrading bacterial strains from contaminated agricultural soils and identified them as Klebsiella sp., Pseudomonas sp., and Citrobacter sp. based on analysis of morphological characteristics and 16S rRNA gene sequences. The strains used three common TFs, namely hexaconazole, difenoconazole, and propiconazole, as their only sources of carbon and energy for growth in a liquid mineral salt medium, with high concentrations (~ 500 mg/l) of each TF. In addition to the ability to degrade fungicides, the isolates also exhibited plant growth-promoting characteristics, such as nitrogen fixation, indole acetic acid production, phosphate dissolution, and cellulose degradation. The synergistic combination of three bacterial isolates significantly improved plant growth and development with an increased survival rate (57%), and achieved TF degradation ranging from 85.83 to 96.59% at a concentration of approximately 50 mg/kg of each TF within 45 days in the soil-plant system. Based on these findings, the three strains and their microbial consortium show promise for application in biofertilizers, to improve soil health and facilitate optimal plant growth.
