Bacillus is a diverse genus consisting of more than 200 species with extensive genetic diversity. Their beneficial effects in industrial shrimp farming have been well documented. However, little is known about the biodiversity of the Bacillus spp. in this aquaculture system. Taxonomic analysis by 16S rRNA sequencing does not always allow species-level identification of Bacillus spp. In this study, 26 Bacillus isolates from two industrial Litopenaeus vannamei shrimp ponds in Bac Lieu Province, Vietnam, were analyzed for their genetic diversity by multi-locus sequence typing (MLST). A total of 22 sequence types were identified and segregated into four distinct clusters, corresponding to B. subtilis, B. velezensis, B. siamensis, and B. licheniformis. Bacillus subtilis and B. velezensis accounted for more than 73% of the Bacillus isolates. Notably, the MLST scheme exhibited high discriminatory power and might be further simplified to be a convenient method to identify species of the genus Bacillus.

This paper presents a simple way to synthesize titaniumdioxide nanotubes by using a microwave- assisted reaction of TiO2 particles and NaOH solution. The main advantage of the introduction of microwave into the reaction system is the extremely rapid kinetics for synthesis. This method is simple and easy to reproduce. Structural and microstructural characterizations of titania nanotubes were accomplished using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning-electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission-electron microscopy (TEM) techniques. The specific surface area was calculated using the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller model and was found to be 52 m2/g. A high photocatalysis of our TiO2 nanotubes was obtained. Powder mixed electrical discharge machining (PMEDM) is a new machining technology. The optimization of process parameters in PMEDM is being researched. The determination of the value of the weights of quality indicators in a multiobjective optimization problem is often complex and difficulty. Preferential selection index (PSI) is a new computational technique for solving multi-objective problems. This contributes to the process of solving the multi-objective optimization problems. In this study, material removal rate (MRR) and surface roughness (SR) were optimized with the help of the PSI method. The specimen and tool materials, electrode polarity, current, pulse-on-time, pulse-off-time and powder concentration were considered. The investigation showed that powder concentration can increase MRR with lower SR. The most significant factor was the electrode material. The optimal values were found as SKD11 (workpiece), Gr (tool), + (polarity), 5 ㎲ (ton), 57 ㎛ (toff), 8A (current) and 10 g/l (powder concentration) with a high accuracy of 7.82%. The electrode material and powder concentration could provide strong influence on the performance measures owing to their importance on determining spark energy in the PMEDM. The research results were compared with those of TOPSIS, GRA and MOORA methods. In conclusion, PSI is the method for the highest efficiency.
