      • A Basic Study on Leaf and Stem Production of Angelica acutiloba

        This study was conducted to develop effective production system in greenhouse for leaves and stems of Angelica acutiloba by using connect pots in 2003 and 2004. Seed germination rate and plant biomass of Angelica acutiloba collected in 2004 were higher than those harvested in 2003. Germination rate of Angelica acutiloba seeds collected in 2003 was 10%, while germination rate of seeds collected in 2004 was above 90%. Especially, plant growth and yield of Angelica acutiloba grown in connect pots sized with 4×4×5cm(length×width×height) were the highest. These results indicate that leaf and stem production of Angelica acutiloba can be improved by using connect pots and optimizing seed collecting time in greenhouse.

      • A Study on Storage of Major Herbal Medicine Materials, Zingiberis Rhizoma

        To develop optimal storage method of root of Zingiberis Rhizoma, which has been grown as major cultural herbal medicine materials, root of Zingiberis Rhizoma, was stored for 10 months with different packing materials and sealing methods. The loss in dry weight as influenced by packing materials and sealing methods was the lowest at vacuum packing and followed by complete sealing methods with transparent polyethylene film. The ratio of root rot during the storage period was not significantly different between packing materials but was significantly different between sealing conditions. Conclusionally, vacuum packing and complete sealing with polyethylene film appears to be optimal for storage of Zingiberis Rhizoma.

      • 물의 종류가 절화수명에 미치는 영향

        자화수와 파이워터는 분자구조가 매우 작은 물로, 생체에 흡수가 잘되고 내병성이 증가되며 절화의 수명과 품질도 크게 증진시킨다고 알려져 있다. 본 실험에서는 이들 물을 이용하여 장미와 카네이션의 절화수명과 품질에 어떤 효과가 있는지 조사하였다. 장미에서 파이워터(N)은 수도수 보다 물의 흡수가 더 잘되어 꽃잎 전개를 촉진시키는 경향이 보였으나, 자화수나 파이워터(W)는 오히려 꽃잎전개를 억제하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 파이워터(N)만 절화수명을 대조구(수도수) 보다 1일 정도 연장시키는 경향이 있었을 뿐, 다른 물에서는 효과가 보이지 않았다. 카네이션에서는 꽃잎 전개 정도나 수분 흡수에서 처리간 차이가 거의 보이지 않았다. 다만, 파이워터(N)와 자화수가 절화수명을 1일 정도 연장시키는 것으로 나타났다. 자화수와 파이워터의 이화학적 특성을 조사한 결과, 모든 물의 pH는 7.1에서 7.3 범위에 속해서 큰 차이를 보이지 않았으며, ORP도 212mV에서 242mV 범위로 물의 종류간 큰 차이를 보이지 않았다. 용존산소는 파이워터(N)에서 6.2mg/L로 수도수 9.4mg/L 보다 낮았으며 자화수와 파이워터(W)는 수도수와 비슷한 정도였다. 따라서 본 실험에서 자화수와 파이워터가 절화수명 연장에 뚜렷한 효과가 보이지 않았던 이유가 본 실험에 사용된 자화수와 파이워터가 본래의 성질을 가지지 못했을 가능성이 크다고 판단되었다. Magnetized water and Pi water which are very small in molecular size, are very easy to be absorbed into plant, improve the resistance against diseases and extend the vase life of flowers. This study was conducted to clarify the effect of these waters on the vase life of rose and carnation. Pi-water(N) was absorbed more than tap water and stimulated the opening of rose flower. However, magnetized water and Pi-water(W) inhibited the opening of rose petal. Pi-water extended the vase life of rose by only 1 day, but other water did not. Effect of magnetized water and Pi-water on the opening of flowers and evaporation and transpiration amount in cut carnations were not observed. Pi-water(N) extended the vase life of carnation flowers by 1 day, but other water did not. pH of all kinds of water studied in this study were the range of 7.1 to 7.3. ORP of these water were the range of 212mV to 242mV. DO of Pi-water(N) was 6.2mg/L, lower than 9.4mg/L of tap water. DO of magnitized water and Pi-water(W) were similar to that of tap water.

      • Effect of Activated Charcoal on Growth of Zingiber mioga ROSC

        Activate charcoal (AC) can be utilized as a soil conditioner in agricultural crop areas. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of AC on growth and yield of Zingiber mioga ROSC as affected by different amounts of AC. The results obtained are summarized as follows. Growth characteristics including plant height and leaf length were the highest when activated charcoal added with 10-30%, suggesting that optimum amount of activated charcoal was ranged from 10 to 30%. Growth and enlargement of the root were improved by 10% AC with higher rhizome length and weight.

Conclusively vacuum packing and complete sealing with polyethylene film appears to be optimal for storage of Peucedani Radix.

      • Study on Leaf Production of Angelica acutiloba by Mulching with Polyethylene Film

        This study was conducted to produce effectively more leaves of Angelica acutiloba through year-round production system by using various mulching materials and polyethylene(PE) tunnel. Soil temperature by covering treatment was higher in PE mulching and PE tunnel than in rice straw mulching, especially showing the highest temperature in PE tunnel from April through May. Water content of soil was higher in PE mulching than in non-mulching. Leaf production of Angelica acutiloba through year-round production showed the highest in PE tunnel and root production in PE mulching. These results suggest that leaf production of Angelica acutiloba can be maximized through PE tunnel cultivation system.

      • Growth Characteristics of Dendropanax morbifera in Chonnam

        This study was carried out obtain basic information for growth characteristics by different age of Dendropanax morbifera in chonnam, such as Yosu, Sunchon, Haenam, Gangjin, Wando. The pH of soil in cultivation area was 5.2 to 5.6 and organic matter was very high up to 10.6% . P205 content of soil in cultivation area was 35.3 to 42.1 mg/L, C.E.S was 13.9 to 14.4 me/100g, and moisture rate was 19.2 to 21.1 % . The flowering of Dendropanax morbifera began from 6~7 years old tree. The flowering date was at 10th of July at Wando. The growth characteristics of 12 years old tree was 929.5cm in stem height, 134.1mm in stem diameter, and 15 years old tree was 1,117.9cm in stem height, 160.8mm in stem diameter. The number of leaf was 13.9 at five years old tree, and the petioles length was 12.6 at five years old tree. Xylem sap can be had at more than 10 years old tree with good growth more than 10 em stem diameter.

      • Temperature Effect on Seed Germination and Seedling Growth of Angelica acutilobu

        Special objective of this study is to investigate morphological characteristics of seeds and effects of environmental factors such as light and temperature on their germination and seedling growth of Angelica acutilobu in Umbelliferae plants, using them as oriental medicine materials. Seed shape of Angelica acutilobu is ovate. Color of seed coats varied from yellow to dark brown. Seed size was 5.5 mm in length, 4.0mm in width. One thousand-seed weight of Angelica acutilobus was 3,210mg. Optimum temperatures for seed germination and seedling growth ranged from 20 to 25℃

        유한 요소법을 이용한 중소하천 유역에서의 이동호우에 대한 유출특성 분석

        In the rainfall-runoff relation, consideration of the spatial movement of storms is very important in designing a hydraulic structure or evaluating an environmental influence for land usage. Because of this reason, this study has suggested the finite element model which consider the spatial movement of a stome and it was applied on a small river basin(Wi stream basin). In the application of the model the basin was treated as a pivot point and the storms are simulated with movement in each directions. As a result, it shows that the storms moving from north to south have bigger peak discharge and faster peak time than the storms moving in other directions. So these characteristics have to be considered in the designation of a hydraulic structure or evaluation of an environmental influence.
