Observability Analysis of Boolean Networks with Biological Applications
Koichi Kobayashi,Jun-ichi Imura 제어로봇시스템학회 2009 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2009 No.8
This paper discusses the observability analys is of Boolean networks. A Boolean network model is one of the typical models of biological networks such as gene regulatory networks and metabolic networks, and it is one of the significant to picsto consider the analysis and control problems using Boolean network models. In this paper, after the notion of the observability is defined, we derive a necessary and sufficient condition for the system to be observable. Furthermore, we show an example of a neurotransmitter signaling pathway.
On-line and Off-line Based Approximation Algorithm for Model Predictive Control of Hybrid Systems
Koichi Kobayashi,Nguyen Van Tang,Kunihiko Hiraishi 대한전자공학회 2008 ITC-CSCC :International Technical Conference on Ci Vol.2008 No.7
In this paper, a new approximate algorithm for model predictive control of hybrid systems is proposed. The proposed algorithm consists of the off-line computation and the on-line computation. In the off-line computation, lower and upper bounds of the optimal value of a given cost function for each mode sequence are calculated. In the on-line computation, after the mode sequence is decided by using off-line computation results, the finite-time optimal control problem, i.e., the quadratic programming problem is solved. So the reduction of the computation time in the on-line computation is achieved. In this paper, the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is shown by a numerical example.

After examining the mechanical performances of the composites, chloride penetration and rebar corrosion tests were conducted on cracked SHCC specimens.

PE fiber, PVA fiber, and a mixture of PE and PVA were added in SHCC. Part of the cement was replaced with limestone powder in some mixtures to vary the water cement ratio of the mortar matrix. For SHCC mixtures containing PVA fiber, which has lower strength and Young's modulus, the water cement ratio had to be increased to obtain a strain hardening property. The chloride penetration test revealed that chloride could penetrate into SHCC through fine cracks and that the width of the fine cracks had no bearing on the amount of chloride accumulated in the crack fracture surfaces. On the other hand, chloride penetration through cracks into the mortar matrix was affected by the number of cracks and water cement ratio. As a result, the corrosion area on rebar in cracked SHCC was also largely dependent on the number of cracks and water cement ratio. However, the corrosion area was smaller than that of ordinary mortar. When the strain is in a small range, the corrosion prevention performances of PE-SHCC and PVA-SHCC were more or less the same.

Highlights

Rebar corrosion protection performances of cracked SHCCs were investigated.

Chloride penetration through cracks into SHCC was affected by the number of cracks.

It was also affected by W/C of mortar matrix.

The corrosion prevention performances of PE-SHCC and PVA-SHCC were comparable.

Even SHCC with low ductility can enhance the durability of RC structures.

Stabilizing Model Predictive Control of Hybrid Systems with Discrete Dynamics
Koichi Kobayashi,Jun-ichi Imura,Kunihiko Hiraishi 제어로봇시스템학회 2009 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2009 No.8
This paper discusses the stabilization problem of hybrid systems using control Lyapunov functions(CLFs). ACLF approach is one of the powerful method sin thest abilization of nonlinear systems. However, there are a few results for the stabilization of hybrid systems. In this paper, to develop stability theory of hybrid systems with discrete dynamics, a construction method of a CLF is proposed. Furthermore, based on the obtained CLF, a stabilizing model predictive control algorithm is alsoproposed. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is shown by a numerical example.
Probabilistic-Constrained Optimal Control of a Class of Stochastic Hybrid Systems
Koichi Kobayashi,Koichiro Matou,Kunihiko Hiraishi 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2012 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.10 No.5
Stochastic hybrid systems have several applications such as biological systems and communication networks, but it is difficult to consider control of general stochastic hybrid systems. In this paper, a class of discrete-time stochastic hybrid systems, in which only discrete dynamics are stochastic, is considered. For this system, a solution method for the optimal control problem with probabilistic constraints is proposed. Probabilistic constraints guarantee that the probability that the continuous state reaches a given unsafe region is less than a given constant. In the propose method, first, continuous state regions, from which the state reaches a given unsafe region, are computed by a backward-reachability graph. Next, mixed integer quadratic programming problems with constraints derived from the backward-reachability graph are solved. The proposed method can be applied to model predictive control.

Behavior of Plane Synthetic Jets Generated by an Asymmetric Stepped Slot
Ryota Kobayashi,Hiroaki Terakado,Kotaro Sato,Junya Taniguchi,Koichi Nishibe,Kazuhiko Yokota 한국유체기계학회 2020 International journal of fluid machinery and syste Vol.13 No.1
This paper presents a fundamental study of jet directional control, i.e., thrust vectoring, using a synthetic jet generated by an asymmetric stepped slot. We present and discuss the results for a synthetic jet generated by a one-sided asymmetric stepped slot and focus on the relationship between the traveling direction of the formed jet and the offset ratio of the stepped slot and/or dimensionless frequency of the synthetic jet, within a jet deflection angle range of 0–90°. We demonstrate that there is an optimum offset ratio for jet deflection under the same dimensionless frequency because the traveling direction of the synthetic jet is dependent on the offset ratio of the stepped slot and the dimensionless stroke length (dimensionless frequency).

Extracts of adult worker bodies of Vespa simillima in 2 % NaCl or acidified methanol were administered orally to mice for 70 days. Following this period, memory at one-day and one-month periods, and the effects on scopolamine-induced amnesia were examined using a step-through passive avoidance task. Changes in MK-801-induced disability after 8 days of training, and in memory one month after the trial were also assessed. Mice treated with the 2% NaCl extract showed significant improvement in memory in the behavioral tests one month after the trial, whereas mice receiving the extract in acidified methanol, did not differ from the controls in any trial. The results inidicate that Vespa simillima contains substances acting favorably on the cerebral functions of mammals.
