Analyzing the Intention of Sports Consumers’ Purchase Behavior Through Online Sports Distributors

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze Korean sports consumers’ intention to stay using online sports products and services through online sports distribution platforms or return to using sports facilities and services in person. Research design, data and methodology: This study set up two models measuring consumers’ recognition, attitude, and purchase intention toward online sports products and services based on involvement theory. An online survey was conducted and a total of 2,263 consumers participated in this study. Male participants were 1,256(55.5%) and female participants were 1,007(44.5%). Descriptive statistics were performed, and a path analysis was utilized to analyze the proposed model using SPSS 26 and SAS. Results: The results revealed two proposed models used in this study supported that consumers’ online sports product and service recognition leads to a positive attitude toward online sports products and services. Moreover, consumers’ positive online sports product and service attitudes were shown to lead to positive intentions to purchase online sports products and services. Conclusions: The findings revealed the recognition of consumers’ online sports products and services led to positive attitudes and behavioral intentions. Implications were provided by suggesting the sports industry stick to developing online sports products and services until the endemic of COVID-19 is declared.

While participating in leisure activities received its notion to help international students’ adjustment process, research regarding the effect of sports spectatorship is lacking. The main purpose of this study is to fill in the gap of the effect of being fans of college sports by examining how international students can also benefit from being fans of college sports for their acculturation. The analysis with 94 international students revealed that their team identification and social activity participation had a significant statistical causal relationship towards acculturation. The study’s implications included utilizing sports spectatorship as a future acculturation strategy for international students.

To implement home network system, it is needed a variety of technologies such as wired or wireless network, middleware, and home gateway. Security issue needs to be considered in such a variety of home network systems to maintain and manage effectively. Unlike existing environment, there are many security vulnerabilities and attacks in home networks. However, it is not relevant to prevent the attack to home network using existing solutions. For this reason, we have to develop suitable and effective intrusion detection system to prevent the attack to home network. In this paper, we divided intrusion into two types, which categorized home gateway and domestic network, in order to propose the solution.
Adaptive Intra Prediction Mode Signaling Approach in H.264/AVC

<P>H.264/AVC estimates the prediction mode from the modes of neighboring blocks in order to reduce the quantity of bits needed to represent the best mode. The estimated mode is known as Most Probable Mode (MPM). When QP changes, the probability of MPM increases. In this paper, we propose an adaptive mode signaling method based on the probability of MPM. According to the probability of MPM, a conventional MPM method and the proposed merging method are adaptively used to signal the intra prediction mode. Experimental results show that the proposed method achieves an average bit savings of 0.727% and an average PSNR gain of 0.041 dB. In the low bit rate condition, the proposed method achieves an average bit savings of 1.795%, and a PSNR gain of 0.103 dB, compared to H.264/AVC.</P>

A recent sports show named Kick a Goal is gaining massive popularity from the Korean public as it provides different sports drama that includes fair competition and unification of women via sports. While the program’s effect has been widely mentioned in the mass media, a scarcity of research has been conducted in academia regarding its effect on women’s actual participation in soccer. Hence, this study established a statistical model that analyzes whether being fans of a starring team in a women’s soccer sportainment show affects women’s actual participation in playing soccer. Samples were recruited from women who identified themselves as either fan of the Kick a Goal program or those who play soccer(futsal), utilizing an online survey. A total of 237 responses were received, with 162 valid responses utilized to analyze the model. As a result, the model showed team identification had a direct effect on viewer satisfaction and an indirect effect on the intention to participate in soccer(futsal). In addition, viewer’s satisfaction led to the intention to participate in soccer(futsal), when the intention led to the action to participate in soccer(futsal). Discussions were provided mainly on how televised sports show may contribute to women’s participation in sports. Practical implications included suggestions to make the teams starring in sportainment show more attractive to grow the team’s fanbase. Based on this study’s results, the increased fanbase will eventually lead to an increased population who actually participate in sports.

<P>Signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) is constitutively activated in psoriatic skin inflammation and acts as a key player in the pathogenesis and progression of this autoimmune disease. Although numerous inhibitors that intervene in STAT3-associated pathways have been tested, an effective, highly specific inhibitor of STAT3 has yet to be identified. Here, we evaluated the <I>in vitro</I> and <I>in vivo</I> biological activity and therapeutic efficacy of a high-affinity peptide specific for STAT3 (APTstat3) after topical treatment <I>via</I> intradermal and transcutaneous delivery. Using a preclinical model of psoriasis, we show that intradermal injection of APTstat3 tagged with a 9-arginine cell-penetrating peptide (APTstat3-9R) reduced disease progression and modulated psoriasis-related cytokine signaling through inhibition of STAT3 phosphorylation. Furthermore, by complexing APTstat3-9R with specific lipid formulations led to formation of discoidal lipid nanoparticles (DLNPs), we were able to achieve efficient skin penetration of the STAT3-inhibiting peptide after transcutaneous administration, thereby effectively inhibiting psoriatic skin inflammation. Collectively, these findings suggest that DLNP-assisted transcutaneous delivery of a STAT3-inhibiting peptide could be a promising strategy for treating psoriatic skin inflammation without causing adverse systemic events. Moreover, the DLNP system could be used for transdermal delivery of other therapeutic peptides.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>

<P>In the last 30 years, the use of membrane bioreactors (MBRs) for advanced wastewater treatment and reuse have been expanded continuously, but they still suffer from excessive energy consumption resulting from the intrinsic problem of membrane biofouling. One of the major causes of biofouling in MBRs is bacterial quorum sensing (QS) via N-acylhomoserine lactones (AHLs) and/or autoinducer-2 (AI-2), enabling intra- and interspecies communications, respectively. In this study, we demonstrate that farnesol can substantially mitigate membrane biofouling in a MBR due to its quorum quenching (QQ) activity. When Candida albicans (a farnesol producing fungus) entrapping polymer beads (AEBs) were placed in the MBR, the rate of transmembrane pressure (TMP) rise-up was substantially decreased, even for lower aeration intensities. This finding corresponds to a specific aeration energy savings of approximately 40% (25% through the physical washing effect and a further 15% through the biological QQ effect of AEBs) compared to conventional MBRs without AEBs. A real-time RT-qPCR analysis revealed that farnesol secreted from C. albicans mitigated the biofilm formation in MBRs via the suppression of AI-2 QS. Successful control of biofouling and energy savings through fungal-to-bacterial QQ could be expanded to the plant scale for MBRs in wastewater treatment with economic feasibility.</P>
