Jigong, a Chinese Buddhist monk of Hangzhou in the 13 century, is verypopular character for Chinese people. In the modern movies or TV dramas,he appears as wearing the buddhist cap and holding the circular fan, forChinese people believe this must be his true image. But in the novelswritten in Ming or Qing dynasty, he is described as a fat, baldhead andbeard man, not having any cap or fan. In fact, Jigong’s present imageoriginated from Peking Opera “Jigong Buddha” shown in Shanghai for1918-1921. Peking opera of Shanghai is composed from several operas ofJiannan area including Mulian opera, and Jigong’s image of “JigongBuddha” is also based on Wuchang God in it. “Jigong Buddha” changedJigong’s image, The reason why this program had a large power is, thisprogram basing on traditional culture, appropriated to the modern cityculture. And this feature is also the proparties of modern culture inShanghai.

Total hip arthroplasty (THA) is performed to replace all or part of a human hip joint with an artificial joint for patients who have rheumatoid arthritis or osteoarthritis of the hip joint. Although THA might result in postoperative complications of dislocation, wear and/or loose, their mechanisms have not been analyzed enough. We have developed an artificial-hip-joint simulator that can generate the same joint posture and joint contact force as those in daily life motion in order to evaluate the performance of the artificial-hip-joint. Dislocation of the artificial-hip-joint during daily living activities was generated by the simulator in order to analyze its mechanism.
Age Differences in Naloxone Reversibility of Electroacupuncture on the Jaw Opening Reflex in Rats

Background: Electroacupuncture is one of the most popular physical treatments for clinical pain, but the potential influence of a patient’s age on the effectiveness of electro acupuncture treatment has not been clearly established. Objectives: The present study aimed to detect a potential difference in electroacu puncture-induced analgesia between juvenile and adult rats. Methods: In this study, we investigated the effects of electroacupuncture treatment on the nociceptive jaw-opening reflex evoked by tooth-pulp stimulation in juvenile and adult rats. Results: Our results showed there were age differences in electroacupuncture-induced analgesic effects in rats, especially with naloxone antagonization. The ratio of naloxonereversibility against electroacupuncture analgesia was greater in adult rats than in juvenile rats. Conclusion: These results suggest that electroacupuncture analgesia is produced mainly by the non-opioid system in juvenile rats and by the opioid system in adult rats.

In Japan, the P1 protein (S-type) encoded by leek yellow stripe virus (LYSV) isolates detected in Honshu and southward is shorter than the P1 (N-type) of LYSV isolates from garlic grown in Hokkaido due to a large deletion in the N-terminal half. In garlic fields in Hokkaido, two types of LYSV isolate with N- and S-type P1s are sometimes found in mixed infections. In this study, we confirmed that N- and S-type P1 sequences were present in the same plant and that they belong to different evolutionary phylogenetic groups. To investigate how LYSV with S-type P1 (LYSV-S) could have invaded LYSV with N-type P1 (LYSV-N)-infected garlic, we examined wild Allium spp. plants in Hokkaido and found that LYSV was almost undetectable. On the other hand, in Honshu, LYSV-S was detected at a high frequency in Allium spp. other than garlic, suggesting that the LYSV-S can infect a wider host range of Allium spp. compared to LYSV-N. Because P1 proteins of potyviruses have been reported to promote RNA silencing suppressor (RSS) activity of HC-Pro proteins, we analyzed whether the same was true for P1 of LYSV. In onion, contrary to expectation, the P1 protein itself had RSS activity. Moreover, the RSS activity of S-type P1 was considerably stronger than that of N-type P1, suggesting that LYSV P1 may be able to enhance its RSS activity when the deletion is in the N-terminal half and that acquiring S-type P1 may have enabled LYSV to expand its host range.
Effect of Patient Characteristics on Vessel Enhancement at Lower Extremity CT Angiography

Objective: To evaluate the effect of patient characteristics on popliteal aortic contrast enhancement at lower extremity CT angiography (LE-CTA) scanning. Materials and Methods: Prior informed consent to participate was obtained from all 158 patients. All were examined using a routine protocol; the scanning parameters were tube voltage 100 kVp, tube current 100 mA to 770 mA (noise index 12), 0.5-second rotation, 1.25-mm detector row width, 0.516 beam pitch, and 41.2-mm table movement, and the contrast material was 85.0 mL. Cardiac output (CO) was measured with a portable electrical velocimeter within 5 minutes of starting the CT scan. To evaluate the effects of age, sex, body size, CO, and scan delay on the CT number of popliteal artery, the researchers used multivariate regression analysis. Results: A significant positive correlation was seen between the CT number of the popliteal artery and the patient age (r = 0.39, p < 0.01). A significant inverse correlation was observed between the CT number of the popliteal artery and the height (r = -0.48), total body weight (r = -0.52), body mass index (r = -0.33), body surface area (BSA) (r = -0.56), lean body weight (r = -0.56), and CO (r = -0.35) (p < 0.001 for all). There was no significant correlation between the enhancement and the scan delay (r = 0.06, p = 0.47). The BSA, CO, and age had significant effects on the CT number (standardized regression: BSA -0.42, CO -0.22, age 0.15; p < 0.05, respectively). Conclusion: The BSA, CO, and age are significantly correlated with the CT number of the popliteal artery on LE-CTA.

Objective: We evaluated the effect of various patient characteristics and time-density curve (TDC)-factors on the test bolus-affected vessel enhancement on coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA). We also assessed the value of generalized linear regression models (GLMs) for predicting enhancement on CCTA. Materials and Methods: We performed univariate and multivariate regression analysis to evaluate the effect of patient characteristics and to compare contrast enhancement per gram of iodine on test bolus (ΔHUTEST) and CCTA (ΔHUCCTA). We developed GLMs to predict ΔHUCCTA. GLMs including independent variables were validated with 6-fold cross-validation using the correlation coefficient and Bland–Altman analysis. Results: In multivariate analysis, only total body weight (TBW) and ΔHUTEST maintained their independent predictive value (p < 0.001). In validation analysis, the highest correlation coefficient between ΔHUCCTA and the prediction values was seen in the GLM (r = 0.75), followed by TDC (r = 0.69) and TBW (r = 0.62). The lowest Bland–Altman limit of agreement was observed with GLM-3 (mean difference, -0.0 ± 5.1 Hounsfield units/grams of iodine [HU/gI]; 95% confidence interval [CI], -10.1, 10.1), followed by ΔHUCCTA (-0.0 ± 5.9 HU/gI; 95% CI, -11.9, 11.9) and TBW (1.1 ± 6.2 HU/gI; 95% CI, -11.2, 13.4). Conclusion: We demonstrated that the patient’s TBW and ΔHUTEST significantly affected contrast enhancement on CCTA images and that the combined use of clinical information and test bolus results is useful for predicting aortic enhancement.
