6d Dirac fermion on a rectangle; scrutinizing boundary conditions, mode functions and spectrum

We classify possible boundary conditions of a 6d Dirac fermion Ψ on a rectangle under the requirement that the 4d Lorentz structure is maintained, and derive the profiles and spectrum of the zero modes and nonzero KK modes under the two specific boundary conditions, (i) 4d-chirality positive components being zero at the boundaries and (ii) internal chirality positive components being zero at the boundaries. In the case of (i), twofold degenerated chiral zero modes appear which are localized towards specific directions of the rectangle pointed by an angle parameter θ. This leads to an implication for a new direction of pursuing the origin of three generations in the matter fields of the standard model, even though triple-degenerated zero modes are not realized in the six dimensions. When such 6d fermions couple with a 6d scalar with a vacuum expectation value, θ contributes to a mass matrix of zero-mode fermions consisting of Yukawa interactions. The emergence of the angle parameter θ originates from a rotational symmetry in the degenerated chiral zero modes on the rectangle extra dimensions since they do not feel the boundaries. In the case of (ii), this rotational symmetry is promoted to the two-dimensional conformal symmetry though no chiral massless zero mode appears. We also discuss the correspondence between our model on a rectangle and orbifold models in some details.

This paper presents roll stability control methodology for future personal electric vehicles with 4 wheel steering system and lateral force sensors. Direct roll moment control is realized by 4 wheel steering control based on lateral tire force control. In this paper, the lateral tire force, obtained from novel lateral force sensors, was utilized to estimate a roll angle and to control the vehicle roll motion. In order to estimate roll angle, a linear observer was proposed and implemented in an experimental electric vehicle. The effectiveness of a proposed roll angle observer was verified through field tests. By using an estimated roll angle, a direct roll moment controller for roll stability was designed based on general two-degree-of?freedom (2-DOF) control methodology. Effectiveness of a proposed roll stability control method was verified through computer simulation using CarSim software.
Status of JENDL High Energy File

The present status of the JENDL high-energy file is reported. The recent version (referred to as JENDL/HE-2007) contains neutron and proton cross section data for energies up to 3 GeV for 107 nuclides over the wide mass range from H to Am. The newly evaluated data for 41 nuclides have been added to the first version (JENDL/HE-2004) along with some revisions. The JENDL/HE-2007 includes neutron total cross sections, nucleon elastic scattering cross sections and angular distributions, nonelastic cross sections, production cross sections and double-differential cross sections of secondary light particles (n, p, d, t, ^3He, α, and π) and gamma-rays, isotope production cross sections, and fission cross sections in the ENDF-6 format. The evaluations were performed on the basis of experimental data, nuclear model calculations, and systematics based on measurements. The evaluated cross sections are compared with available experimental data and the other evaluations. Some results of benchmark tests with MCNPX codes are shown.

We have developed a high-field and high-frequency ESR system using a commercially available magnetometer equipped with the superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID). This is magnetization detection type ESR and ESR is observed as a change of the magnetization at the resonance condition under irradiation of the electromagnetic wave. The frequency range is from 70 to 315 GHz and the maximum magnetic field is 5 T. The sensitivity is estimated to be 10<SUP>13</SUP> spins/G. The advantage of this system is that the high-field ESR measurements can be made very easily and quantitatively. Moreover, this high-field ESR can be applied to the measurements under pressure by using a widely used piston-cylinder pressure cell.
Classification of three-generation models on magnetized orbifolds

We classify the combinations of parameters which lead three generations of quarks and leptons in the framework of magnetized twisted orbifolds on T<SUP>2</SUP>/Z<SUB>2</SUB>, T<SUP>2</SUP>/Z<SUB>3</SUB>, T<SUP>2</SUP>/Z<SUB>4</SUB> and T<SUP>2</SUP>/Z<SUB>6</SUB> with allowing nonzero discretized Wilson line phases and Scherk-Schwarz phases. We also analyze two actual examples with nonzero phases leading to one-pair Higgs and five-pair Higgses and discuss the difference from the results without nonzero phases studied previously.
