Porcine Aortic Endothelial Cell Genes Responsive to Selected Inflammatory Stimulators

<P>Use of porcine tissues has been suggested as a promising solution for severe shortage of transplantable human organs. The immediate hurdle for xenotransplantation is acute immune/inflammatory vascular rejection of the transplant. Because endothelial cells play a key role in the initiation and the amplification of inflammation, alteration of gene expression in human endothelial cells, by various inflammatory stimulators has been studied extensively. However, transcriptional changes induced by human and other inflammatory stimulators in porcine endothelial cells have thus far not been studied. In this study, we treated porcine endothelial cells with human tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, porcine interferon (IFN)-γ, H<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>2</SUB> and lypopolysaccharide (LPS) and profiled transcriptional change at 1 hr, 6 hr and 24 hr, using pig oligonucleotide 13K microarray. We found that mRNA species such as chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand 6 (CXCL6) and Cathepsin S were significantly induced in porcine endothelial cells, as was previously reported with human endothelial cell. We also found that mRNA species including secreted frizzled-related protein 2 (SFRP2), radical S-adenosyl methionine domain containing 2 (RSAD2), structure specific recognition protein 1 (SSRP1) also were highly overexpressed in porcine endothelial cells. This result shows clues to understand underlying mechanisms of xenotransplantation rejection and the highly responsive porcine genes may serve as novel targets to be regulated for improving the function of grafted porcine donor organs.</P>

<P>Most pansharpened images from existing algorithms are apt to present a tradeoff relationship between the spectral preservation and the spatial enhancement. In this letter, we developed a hybrid pansharpening algorithm based on primary and secondary high-frequency information injection to efficiently improve the spatial quality of the pansharpened image. The injected high-frequency information in our algorithm is composed of two types of data, i.e., the difference between panchromatic and intensity images, and the Laplacian filtered image of high-frequency information. The extracted high frequencies are injected by the multispectral image using the local adaptive fusion parameter and postprocessing of the fusion parameter. In the experiments using various satellite images, our results show better spatial quality than those of other fusion algorithms while maintaining as much spectral information as possible.</P>

인터넷을 이용한 뱅킹 서비스의 편리한 접근성 덕분에 사용자는 나날이 늘어 가고 있으나 사용자들이 사용하는 용도는 이체와 예금조회에 국한된 양상을 보이고 있다. 인터넷이라는 편리한 접근에도 불구하고 일부기능을 제외한 다른 기능이 전혀 사용되지 않는다는 것을 메뉴구조의 복잡함 때문이라고 바라보았다. 그 원인으로는 메뉴이름과 하위 업무들의 연계성이 적고 원하는 기능으로의 접근경로가 너무 많은 점이다. 이러한 메뉴 구조의 복잡성은 사용자에게 헛갈림을 주는 문제점이 발생한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 사용자의 편리를 고려한 메뉴구조를 은행 간 비교분석을 통하여 제안한다. Although internet banking attracts more and more users, the use of the service is mostly limited to money transfer and account inquiry. We hypothesized that the locus of this limited use lies in the complexity of menu structure (ie., UI) regardless of convenience of internet access. Reasons could be confusing menu labels, unintuitive relationship between higher vs. lower menu hierarchy, and over too many access paths for a few identical functions. This complexity causes user’s confusion and frustration because the UI do not offer a single, convincing access to the intended location in the web. Therefore, in this research, we suggest user-friendly UI of banking service by comparing different banking webpages across different banks.
