A Polymer Interface for Varying Electron Transfer Rate with Electrochemically Formed Gold Nanoparticles from Spontaneously Incorporated Tetrachloroaurate(III) Ions

This paper presents a novel simple method for introducing gold nanoparticles in a poly(4-vinylpyridine) (PVP) polymer layer over a glassy carbon (GC) electrode with the aim of forming a tunable electrochemical interface against a cationic ruthenium complex. Initially, AuCl4- ions were spontaneously incorporated into a polymer layer containing positively charged pyridine rings in an acidic media by ion exchange. A negative potential was then applied to electrochemically reduce the incorporated AuCl4- ions to gold nanoparticles, which was confirmed by the FE-SEM images. The PVP layer with an appropriate thickness over the electrode blocked electron transfer between the electrode and the solution phase for the redox reactions of the cationic Ru(NH3)62+ ions. However, the introduction of gold nanoparticles into the polymer layer recovered the electron transfer. In addition, the electron transfer rate between the two phases could be tuned by controlling the number density of gold nanoparticles.

This study aims to examine the effects of the narrative-oriented tendency of Yongak Lee's poetry on the praise of the socialist system and demagogy in relation to North Korea's policy of creative writing. Among 25 pieces of poems of Yongak Lee released in Joseon Literature, a literature related monthly magazine of North Korea published by <Yeonbyeon Literature>, those showing the pattern of the time period were chosen and the narrative events revealed in his poems and individuals related were examined according to each stage in the history of North Korean literature. Yongak Lee acted and created works in North Korea from 1950 when he moved to North Korea to 1971 when he died. Thus, the time of his creative activity can be divided to the War Period for National Liberation (1950-1953), the Period of Establishing Socialism(1953-1958), the Time of Cheonrima Campaign(1958-1967), and the Time of Ilseong Kim's Self-reliance Ideology(1967-1989). 『With Brothers Fighting Anywhere』(『Joseon Literature - 7th Volume』, Jan 1952 Issue) describes the heroism of persons who were in a normal social position but risked their life in tribulations out of loyalty and camaraderie to Ilseong Kim during the War Period for National Liberation(1950-1953). In time, the narrative description of the 'popular heroes' behavior in North Korea Literature intended to show excellent models to people and promote their heroic behaviors. 『Pyeongnamgwan-gaesicho』(『Joseon Literature - the 15th volume』, Aug 1956 Issue) dealt with the magnificent historical facts on the power of the people changing the major stream, describing the romantic reality of labors and farmers who continued to change daily life. The 'popular heroes' in the wartime appear as 'workers' participating in group labor in the Period of Establishing Socialism(1953-1958), which well indicates how the characteristics of human changed as the goal of the party was converted from 'victory of war' to 'restoration and development of people's economy.' In the Time of Cheonrima Campaign(1958-1967), North Korea poets promoted Cheonrima Campaign to actively proceed with the postwar restoration work and socialist establishment in the full scale, and at the same time, continued to embody 'the liberation of North Korea,' another goal of theirs. In the Industrial Town of Honorary Soldiers (『Joseon Literature』 - the 29th volume, Dec 1959 Issue) well shows that the war heroes in the War Period for National Liberation were reborn as 'the rider of Cheonrima horse' with passion for reform, as faithful heroes for the party. While the main actors in development of Communism in North Korea Literature before the Time of Self-reliance Ideology(1967-1989) were labors and farmers, since then only Ilseong Kim started to be highlighted as an idolized hero. In one Farmhouse (『Joseon Literature - the 57th volume』, April 1968 Issue) presented Ilseong Kim as an excellent model for Communist culture, trying to educate the people with communist features. The poetic characters appearing in Yongak Lee's works tended to change according to each time period from 'popular heroes' in the War Period for National Liberation, to 'labors and farmers' in the Period of Establishing Socialism, to 'riders of Cheonrima horse' in the Time of Cheonrima Campaign, and to ‘Ilseong Kim’ in the Time of Ilseong Kim's Self-reliance Ideology, which is because heroic characters who were able to realize the values required in the time were highlighted as poetic characters and embodied in a narrative manner.

무기체계 최초양산품 소프트웨어 품질보증 프로세스 연구

군수품 최초양산품 품질관리는 연구개발 이후 최초로 양산 계약된 군수품을 대상으로 개발 후 완성된 규격에 따라 개발품의 양산 실현 가능성과 적합성 평가를 목적으로 수행한다. 하지만 본 연구를 통한 무기체계 최초양산품 소프트웨어 품질보증을 수행하기 이전까지 최초양산품 품질보증은 하드웨어 중심으로 수행되어 소프트웨어에 대한 품질보증은 미흡한 상태였다. 이로 인해 후속 양산단계에서 소프트웨어의 문제점들이 발견됐을 경우 불가피한 기술변경에 따라 많은 시간과 비용이 소요되었다. 본 논문에서는 소프트웨어 기술자료의 충분성 및 적합성을 점검하기 위한 무기체계 최초양산품 소프트웨어 품질보증 프로세스 연구를 수행한 결과를 보인다. 그 결과 컴퓨터 파일의 완전성 점검, 소프트웨어 기술문서의 적합성 점검, 소프트웨어 기술자료와 그 외 국방규격의 연계 여부를 점검하는 프로세스를 정립하고 이 프로세스를 적용하여 최초양산품 소프트웨어 품질보증을 수행한 결과를 분석하여 최초양산품 소프트웨어 품질보증 프로세스의 효용성을 보인다. 소프트웨어 기술자료의 완전성을 확보하여 양산단계에서 발생할 수 있는 소프트웨어 문제점을 사전에 식별하여 소프트웨어의 선제적인 품질 확보에 기여할 수 있음을 보인다. This study evaluated the process of software quality assurance about the initial product in a weapon system. The software quality assurance of the initial product was insufficient before this study. Therefore, the process of the software quality assurance about the initial product in a weapon system is suggested. The process has three parts. First, the completeness of computer files, such as source code and execute files, were checked. Second, the suitability of the software technical data was checked. Finally, the connectivity of software technical data and the Korean defense specification were assessed. Overall, there is a need to toughen the software quality assurance in the research and development step and achieve early stabilization of mass production by preventing the problems that prevent the production of a product due to the insufficient software technical data.

신경림의 『농무』에 나타난 장소 연구

이 글은 신경림의 『농무』를 통해 산업화 시대의 농민들이 처한 현실과 관련하여, 그들의 장소 상실을 살펴보는 것을 목표로 한다. 1970년대 정부 주도의 산업화는 농업에서 공업으로 경제체제의 대변화를 가져왔으며, 그 과정에서 많은 농민들이 자신의 고향인 농촌을 버리고 도시로 떠났다. 신경림의 『농무』는 당시 농촌과 농민의 이러한 정황을 여실히 반영하고 있다. 인간에게 고향이라는 장소는 단순한 물리적 환경이 아니라, 정신적 뿌리를 상징한다. 산업화 시대의 농촌은 경제적 기반이 흔들리면서, 농촌은 더 이상 안락한 고향으로서의 정체성을 상실하였다. 이에 농촌에 남아있는 농민은 고향과의 유대감을 상실한 채, 패배의식에 젖어 ‘서울’을 동경했다. 하지만 고향이라는 가장 친밀한 장소와의 불화는 인간에게 자아정체성 상실을 가져왔다. 농민들은 일자리를 찾아 ‘서울’과 도시 근교의 공사장으로 모여들었다. 그들이 고향을 떠나 새 주거지로 삼은 곳은 일시적·우연적 특성을 띠어 영속적 삶을 유지할 만한 진정한 ‘집’이 될 수 없었다. 이들이 타향적 실존으로 살아가는 근원에는 정부 주도의 산업화가 크게 자리잡고 있다. 산업화는 자신이 태어난 곳을 떠나, 기술과 직업 중심으로 인구를 이동하게 했다. 이 유동성은 사람들이 타향에서도 지속적으로 정착하여 고향화되는 과정을 막고 거주지를 쉬지 않고 옮기게 한다. 결국 산업화라는 집권적 권력이 무장소를 유발한 것이다. 무장소는 의미있는 장소를 가지지 못한 환경과 장소가 가진 의미를 인정하지 않는 잠재적인 태도를 말한다. 즉 농민은 산업화에 의해 뜻있는 장소에서 뜻없는 무장소로 떠밀렸으며, 진정한 장소감을 안겨주는 ‘집’을 잃고 자기 소외 현상을 겪는다. This study aims to examine the loss of farmers’ places in connection with the reality in the time of industrialization described in 『Agricultural Affairs』 of SHIN Gyeongrim. In 1970’s, the industrialization led by the government resulted in a great change in the economic system from agriculture to manufacturing industry. In the process, a number of farmers left farm villages, their own hometown, and headed for a city. 『Agricultural Affairs』 of SHIN Gyeongrim reflects the actual circumstances of the farmers and agricultural areas in time. A person’s hometown symbolizes the mental root, not merely a physical environment. An agricultural area in the time of industrialization started to lose its foundation, and it lost the identity as a comfortable hometown. Farmers who were still living in a farmland lost the unity with the hometown, and yearned ‘Seoul’ out of a sense of defeat. However, the discord with hometown, the closest place, resulted in the loss of identity of human. Farmers started to be gathered at construction sites in 'Seoul' and nearby cities to find a job. The places where they found a new house were just instant and incidental. They could not become a genuine ‘home’ to continually keep their life in. Their living in a place away from home was mainly due to industrialization led by the government. Industrialization made people leave the birthplace and move out for skills and jobs. Such population mobility prevents people from settling in a certain place away from home as the second hometown, and makes them move continually. In the end, industrialization, the governing power so to speak, caused ‘No Place.’ No place indicates a potential attitude that does not admit an environment or a place with no meaning. In other words, farmers were flooded away from a meaningful place to a meaningless ‘no place’ due to industrialization. They lost a ‘house’ that bears the genuine sense of place and went through self-alienation.

Monitoring of the Transfer of Tetrachloroaurate(III) Ions by Thin-layer Electrochemistry and Electrochemical Deposition of Metallic Gold over a Graphite Electrode

This study demonstrates the electrochemical conversion of the synthetic procedure of monolayer-protected clusters using a thin toluene layer over an edge plane pyrolytic graphite electrode. A thin toluene layer with a thickness of 0.31 mm was coated over the electrode and an immiscible liquid/liquid water/toluene interface was introduced. The transfer of the tetrachloroaurate (AuCl4 −) ions into the toluene layer interposed between the aqueous solution and the electrode surface was electrochemically monitored. The AuCl4 − ions initially could not move through into the toluene layer, showing no reduction wave, but, in the presence of the phase transfer reagent, tetraoctylammonium bromide (TOABr), a cathodic wave at 0.23 V vs. Ag/AgCl was observed, indicating the reduction of the transferred AuCl4 − ions in the toluene layer. In the presence of dodecanethiol together with TOABr, a self-assembled monolayer was formed over the electro-deposited metallic gold surface. The FE-SEM image of the surface indicates the formation of a highly porous metallic gold surface, rather than individual nanoparticles, over the EPG electrode.

Arginine addition in a diet for weaning pigs can improve the growth performance under heat stress

The effects of arginine (Arg) and methionine (Met) supplementation on nutrient use in pigs were determined under hot season conditions. A total of five experimental diets including basal diet (CON) were supplemented with two types of amino acids (Arg and Met) and two different amounts of amino acids (0.2% and 0.4%). Under hot season condition, pigs fed with additional Arg were significantly higher in average daily gain (ADG) than the CON group and the ADG increased linearly (p < 0.05) with increasing Arg supplementation. But there was no significant difference with Met supplementation (p > 0.05). The apparent ileal digestibility (AID) of amino acids had no significant difference among treatments (p > 0.05), while d-reactive oxygen metabolites (d-ROMs) concentration in treatments with Arg supplementation, were significantly higher (p < 0.05) than other treatments. In conclusion, exposure of pigs to heat stress does not affect the AID of amino acid, whereas pig fed with additional Arg improved ADG and feed efficiency under heat stress condition.

이 논문은 사람의 성격과 나이, 직업, 결혼 유무, 최종학력, 전공, 종교, 월수입, 통근 수단 등 총 14가지로 이루어진 사람의 특징 데이터와 자주 방문하는 선호 장소에 대한 데이터의 상관관계를 분석하고, 어떠한 요인이 가장 크게 영향을 미치는가에 대해 분석하였다. 분석에는 17명의 실험자가 참여하였고, 분석 방법으로는 Boosting 기법을 사용하였다. 성격 데이터는 Big Five Inventory (BFI)를 통해 얻었고, 나머지 특징들에 대한 데이터는 직접 만든 설문지를 통해 얻었으며, 장소 데이터는 Swarm 애플리케이션을 통해 얻었다.

Seesaw lepton masses and muon g-2 from heavy vector-like leptons

We propose a model for the vector-like lepton to explain the small muon mass by a seesaw mechanism, based on leptonspecific two Higgs doublet models with a local U(1)' symmetry. There is no bare muon mass for a nonzero U(1)' charge of the leptophilic Higgs doublet, so the physical muon mass is generated due to the mixing between the vector-like lepton and the muon after the leptophilic Higgs doublet and the dark Higgs get VEVs. In this scenario, the non-decoupling effects of the vector-like lepton give rise to leading contributions to the muon g − 2 , thanks to the light Z' and the light dark Higgs boson. We discuss various constraints on the model from lepton flavor violation, electroweak precision and Higgs data, as well as collider searches.
