        Genetic Variation and Evolution of the Pi9 Blast Resistance Locus in the AA Genome Oryza Species

        The rice nucleotide-binding site–leucine-rich repeat (NBS-LRR)-encoding resistance (R) gene Pi9 confers broad-spectrum resistance to the fungal pathogen Magnaporthe oryzae. The Pi9 locus comprises many NBS-LRR-like genes and is an ancient locus that is highly conserved in cultivated and wild rice species. To understand the genetic variation and molecular evolutionary mechanism of the Pi9 alleles in different rice species, we studied five AA genome Oryza species including two cultivated rice species (Oryza sativa and Oryza glaberrima) and three wild rice species (Oryza nivara, Oryza rufipogon, and Oryza barthii). A 2.9-kb fragment spanning the NBS-LRR core region of the Pi9 gene was amplified and sequenced from 40 accessions. Sequence comparison revealed that the Pi9 alleles had an intermediate-diversified nucleotide polymorphism among the AA genome Oryza species. Sequence variations were more abundant in the LRR region than in the NBS region, indicating that the LRR region has played a more important role for the evolution of the Pi9alleles. Furthermore, positive selection was found to be the main force promoting the divergence of the Pi9 alleles,especially in the LRR region. Our results reveal the characteristics and evolutionary dynamics of the Pi9 alleles among the two cultivated and three wild rice species.

      • A Recommendation Method basing on Synthetic Strategy for Agricultural Science and Technology Information

        To ameliorate the limitations of traditional collaborative filtering technologies and enhance the recommendation quality of agricultural science and technology information, a collaborative filtering recommendation method based on synthetic strategy is proposed. Firstly, filter the user set and user-item rating matrix according to the location of target user, which can solve the regional problem. Then, predict ratings of items according to the similarity of users or item content, which can relax the impact of the sparse rating. In addition, add the rating time to the user-item rating matrix to distinguish the timeliness of the user preference, and add user preference shifting in the similarity formula as a factor which can express the similarity of users or item content better. Our method can not only guarantee the recommended information is local and suit to current season of agricultural production, but also ensure the recommending precision under sparse rating data.

        Fouling and cleaning protocols for forward osmosis membrane used for radioactive wastewater treatment

        The membrane fouling is an important problem for FO applied to the radioactive wastewater treatment. The FO fouling characteristics for simulated radioactive wastewater treatment was investigated. On-line cleaning by deionized (DI) water and external cleaning by ultrasound and HCl were applied for the fouled membrane. The effectiveness and foulant removing amount by each-step cleaning were evaluated. The membrane fouling was divided into three stages. Co(II), Sr(II), Cs(I), Na(I) were all found deposited on both active and support layers of the membrane surface, resulting in membrane surface became rougher and more hydrophobic, which increased membrane resistance. On-line cleaning by DI water recovered the water flux to 69%. HCl removed more foulants than ultrasound.

        Synthesis and Characterization of Novel Homopolyimides Containing Pyridine and Morpholine Groups for Gas Separation by Molecular Design and Simulation

        A novel 4-(4-(1-morpholinyl)phenyl)-2,6-bis(4-aminophenyl)pyridine (MPAP) diamine monomer was designed and synthesized by introducing non-coplanar morpholine groups and pyridine heterocyclic structures. By one-step homopolymerization of MPAP and different dianhydrides, three new polyimides (PIs) were synthesized. The obtained PIs are easily soluble in common organic solvents, such as NMP, DMAc, and CHCl3. Simultaneously, PIs have high thermal performance (Tg = 277–377 °C) and excellent thermal stability (Td,5% and Td,10% are 460–487 °C and 525–545 °C). They also have good optical transparency (λcutoff = 380–394 nm, λ80% = 469–482 nm) and hydrophobicity (θ = 87–92º). The free volume and gas adsorption are simulated by Materials Studio 2019 software, and the simulation results match the gas separation performance obtained from experimental test. They show good gas separation performance as well, especially PI-3 for the CO2/N2 (up to 23.26), O2/N2 (up to 5.02) and He/N2 (up to 59.78) separations, which is close to the 1991 Robeson upper bound.

        A surfactant-free microemulsion containing diethyl malonate, ethanol, and water: Microstructure, micropolarity and solubilizations

        The microstructure, micropolarity and solubilizations of a surfactant-free microemulsion (SFME)containing diethyl malonate (DEM), ethanol (EtOH), and water were investigated in details. The ternaryphase diagram of the SFME was constructed, and the single-phase region of the diagram was divided intooil in water (O/W), bicontinuous (B.C.), and water in oil (W/O) subregions. The dynamic light scattering(DLS) results showed that there is an orderly microstructure in each subregion of the system. The UV–visabsorbance spectra of CoCl2 indicated the formation of complete W/O SFME droplets, when the watercontent is relatively large. With an increase in water content, the association between Cu2+ and watermolecules increases, resulting in a red shift of the UV–vis absorbance spectra of CuCl2. The solubilizationof K3Fe(CN)6 in the W/O SFME was investigated, and found that the SFME has better solubilization effecton inorganic salts. Riboflavin also has a strong solubilizing effect in the W/O SFME, and the absorbanceconforms to Lambert–Beer’s law. When the water content is small, the absorbance deviates fromLambert–Beer’s law. This is in agreement with the results of the solubilization of CoCl2. A complete W/OSFME could be formed when the water mass fraction (W) exceeds 0.10.

        A novel synthesis of hexagonal cylinder-like ZnO with an excellent performance by a surfactant-free microemulsion-hydrothermal method

        A W/O surfactant-free microemulsion (SFME) template-hydrothermal method for the preparation of ZnOproducts was proposed. Using the SFME system containing hexane, propan-2-ol and water, hexagonalcylinder-like (twinning) ZnO microcrystals were synthesized. The XRD, SEM and TEM characterizationsshowed that the synthesized ZnO microcrystals have a hexagonal wurtzite structure. At hydrothermaltemperatures of 120–140 C, hexagonal cylinder-like ZnO microcrystals were synthesized, whereas thehexagonal cylinder twinning ZnO microcrystals were obtained at 160 C. The growth mechanism of theZnO microcrystals was also investigated. The EPR and XPS spectra of the synthesized ZnO products showed that there are oxygen vacancies onthe ZnO surface. The photodegradation behavior of methylene blue (MB, 10 ppm) with a UV-Hg lamp(250 W) as the light source in ZnO aqueous suspension (0.3 g L 1) was investigated. The ZnO productsynthesized at 140 ℃ can significantly photocatalyze the degradation of lower concentration MBsolutions. After 35 min of irradiation, the photocatalytic decomposition rate reached 98.3%. It is hopedthat this work could serve as an important stepping stone for establishing a novel hydrothermal methodbased on SFME system, therefore paving the way for other potential ideas on the application of SFMEsystems.

        A Novel Defect Detection Sensor Based on Lorentz Force

        In this paper, a novel MEMS defect detection sensor based on Lorentz force is designed. The bow beam structure is proposed, 3D model is established by COMSOL Multiphysics 6.0, and a multi-objective optimization of the sensor structural parameters is carried out using the NSGA-II algorithm and MOPSO algorithm. The simulation results show that, the stability of the sensor optimized by the MOPSO algorithm is improved by 56.14 and 87.48%, compared with that optimized by the NSGA-II algorithm and obtained empirically, provided that the minimum capacitance detection requirement is achieved. In addition, the optimized sensor structure has smaller size, better stability and higher sensitivity compared with the reported devices of the same principle, thus is able to detect the Lorentz force variation of 25 nN generated during motion of a 100 μm thick metal sheet with 20 μm micro-defects. These results show that this sensor has potential application in non-destructive testing.
