On Diagonal Loading for Robust Adaptive Beamforming Based on Worst-Case Performance Optimization
Jing-ran Lin,Qi-cong Peng,Huai-zong Shao 한국전자통신연구원 2007 ETRI Journal Vol.29 No.1
Robust adaptive beamforming based on worst-case performance optimization is investigated in this paper. It improves robustness against steering vector mismatches by the approach of diagonal loading. A closed-form solution to optimal loading is derived after some approximations. Besides reducing the computational complexity, it shows how different factors affect the optimal loading. Based on this solution, a performance analysis of the beamformer is carried out. As a consequence, approximated closed-form expressions of the source-of-interest power estimation and the output signalto- interference-plus-noise ratio are presented in order to predict its performance. Numerical examples show that the proposed closed-form expressions are very close to their actual values.

Purpose: The study was designed to: (1) investigate the prevalence of high-risk human papillomavirus (HR-HPV) infection and cervical neoplasia; and (2) evaluate clinical performance of visual inspection with acetic acid/ Lugol's iodine (VIA /VILI), Pap smear, high-risk human papillomavirus (HR-HPV) DNA test for detecting cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 2 or worse (CIN2+) and (3) explore appropriate screening approach in rural areas of Shandong Province. Materials and Methods: A total of 3,763 eligible women from Yiyuan County in Yimeng mountainous areas of rural Shandong, China, were enrolled and underwent Pap smear, HR-HPV DNA testing by Hybrid Capture 2 (HC2), and VIA /VILI tests. Women positive in any test were referred to colposcopy and biopsy as indicated. Results: The prevalence of HR-HPV infection among all enrolled women was 11.1% and that in healthy women was 9.9%. In total 33 cases of CIN1, 16 cases of CIN2, 6 cases of CIN3 but none of cervical cancer were detected and the crude prevalence of CIN2+ was 0.58%. For detecting CIN2+, the sensitivity of HR-HPV DNA testing, VIA/VILI, Pap smear was 90.9%, 77.3%, 81.8%, respectively. Pap smear had the best specificity of 98.2%, followed by HR-HPV DNA testing with specificity of 89.4%, VIA/VILI had the lowest specificity of 81.2%. Colposcopy referral rate of HR-HPV DNA testing, VIA/VILI, Pap smear was 11.1%, 18.5%, 2.3%, respectively. Conclusions: Our results suggest that HR-HPV DNA testing alone might be appropriate for primary cervical cancer screening in rural low-resource areas of Shandong Province, China.
The establishment of IB-SEM numerical method and verification of fluid-solid interaction
Wang, Jing,Li, Shu-cai,Mao, Xuerui,Li, Li-ping,Shi, Shao-shuai,Zhou, Zong-qing Techno-Press 2018 Geomechanics & engineering Vol.15 No.6
The interaction between particles and fluid was investigated by IB-SEM numerical method which is a combination of combing the spectral/hp element method and the rigid immersed boundary method. The accuracy of this numerical method was verified based on the computed results with the traditional body-fitted mesh in numerical simulation of the flow through the cylinder. Then the governing equations of particles motion and contact in fluid are constructed. The movement of the particles and the interaction between the fluid and the particles are investigated. This method avoided the problem of low computational efficiency and error caused by the re-division of the grid when the solids moved. Finally, the movement simulation of multi particles in the fluid was carried out, which can provide a completely new numerical simulation method.

The species within the family Cunninghamellaceae are widely distributed and produce important metabolites. Morphological studies along with a molecular phylogeny based on the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and large subunit (LSU) of ribosomal DNA revealed two new species in this family from soils in China, that is, Absidia ovalispora sp. nov. and Cunninghamella globospora sp. nov. The former is phylogenetically closely related to Absidia koreana, but morphologically differs in sporangiospores, sporangia, sporangiophores, columellae, collars, and rhizoids. The latter is phylogenetically closely related to Cunninghamella intermedia, but morphologically differs in sporangiola and colonies. They were described and illustrated.

Square holes are characterized by high torque and good guidance. They are widely used in various industries, including aviation, aerospace, automobiles, and molding. In this study, a step-by-step electrical discharge machining (SSP) method was used to investigate the precision machining of square blind holes in a titanium alloy. This method integrates a limited set of multiple machining strategies with electrical discharge machining (EDM) by utilizing small shaped formed electrodes and step-by-step feeding for EDM. The main objective of this study was to investigate the machining efficiency and the surface quality of square blind holes in a titanium alloy. Two methods, EDM and SSP, were used to produce roughened circular pre-drilled components and square hole samples. Compared to EDM, SSP met the machining requirements of the square blind hole and improved machining efficiency by over three times, as well as surface quality by 16.06%. Subsequently, the influence of the machining area on precision machining was investigated, and a step-by-step precision machining process was established. Finally, two SSP methods, namely one-time SSP (O-SSP) and multiple SSP (M-SSP), were used for precision machining of rough-machined samples. Compared to O-SSP, M-SSP achieved higher machining accuracy and surface quality, despite its lower machining efficiency. The square hole, with a depth of 25 mm, was refined using M-SSP. It exhibited an upper and lower taper of 0.02 mm, a minimum fillet radius of R 0.04 mm, and a bottom corner radius of R 0.127 mm.

Background: To explore the independent prognostic factors for the recurrence/metastasis of patients with locoregionally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (LANPC). Materials and Methods: A total of 604 patients initially diagnosed as LANPC by pathohistology in Fujian Provincial Cancer Hospital were selected to analyze the relationship between the clinical pathological patterns, therapeutic protocols and clinical stages with the recurrence/metastasis of LANPC. Results: The 1-, 3- and 5-year locoregionally recurrent rates of LANPC patients were 2.0%, 9.5% and 12.9% respectively, with average recurrent period being 78 months. Univariate analysis results indicated that clinical stages had certain influence on the recurrent period of LANPC patients. However, COX regression models showed that ages, genders and clinical stages were not the independent prognostic factors influencing the recurrence. The 1-, 3- and 5-year metastatic rates of LANPC patients were 6.6%, 17.5% and 18.8% respectively, with average metastatic period of 73 months. Univariate analysis results demonstrated that ages, N stages, clinical stages, locations of lymph node, retropharyngeal lymph node and extracapsular invasion of lymph node had certain influence on the metastatic period of LANPC patients. Additionally, further COX regression analysis results suggested that T stages, reduction protocols and extracapsular invasion of lymph node were the independent prognostic factors influencing the metastasis of patients with LANPC, in which T stages and extracapsular invasion of lymph node were the pestilent factors while reduction protocols the protective factor. Conclusions: Induction chemotherapy is beneficial to LANPC patients with initial treatment, and the metastatic rate decreases greatly after the application of reduction chemotherapy.

Wang, Hong-Li,Liu, Mei-Mei,Ma, Xin,Fang, Lei,Zhang, Zong-Feng,Song, Tie-Fang,Gao, Jia-Yin,Kuang, Ye,Jiang, Jing,Li, Lin,Wang, Yang-Yang,Li, Pei-Ling Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.7
Previous studies have demonstrated that JMJD2A is a potential oncogene and is overexpressed in human tumors. However, its role in the endometrial carcinoma remains largely unknown. In this study, we discovered that JMJD2A was overexpressed in endometrial carcinoma, using immunohistochemistry, quantitative realtime polymerase chain reaction, and western blotting. Downregulation of JMJD2A led to reduced endometrial carcinoma RL95-2 and ISK cell proliferation, invasion and metastasis as asessed with cell counting kit-8, cell migration and invasive assays. Collectively, our results support that JMJD2A is a promoter of endometrial carcinoma cell proliferation and survival, and is a potential novel drug target.
