<P>In this letter, a specific absorption rate (SAR) reduced 28 GHz beam-steering array antenna with dual-mode operation for a fully metal-covered fifth-generation (5G) cellular handset is proposed. The proposed antenna consists of two subarrays, each of which has eight rotated slot antenna elements, which are arranged on the upper frame and on the part of the back cover of the handset. The subarrays are selected according to the modes by using a switch. The proposed array demonstrates good reflection coefficients in the frequency band ranging from 27.2 to 28.2 GHz and the mutual couplings between antenna elements are less than –11.8 dB. The proposed antenna has good beam-steering properties and a hemispherical beam coverage for a millimeter-wave (mm-wave) 5G cellular handset. The calculated peak SAR values on the head phantom by the proposed structure, for the beam scan angles of 0° and 40°, are 0.53 and 0.88 W/kg, respectively, when the input power of each subarray is 24 dBm.</P>
Design of a Wideband Antipodal Vivaldi Antenna with an Asymmetric Parasitic Patch

An antipodal Vivaldi antenna with a compact parasitic patch to overcome radiation performance degradations in the high-frequency band is proposed. For this purpose, a double asymmetric trapezoidal parasitic patch is designed and added to the aperture of an antipodal Vivaldi antenna. The patch is designed to efficiently focus the beam toward the end-fire direction at high frequencies by utilizing field coupling between the main radiating patch and the inserted parasitic patch. As a result, this technique considerably improves the gain and stability of radiation patterns at high frequencies. The proposed antenna has a peak gain greater than 9 dBi over the frequency range of 6–26.5 GHz.

Objective We aimed to explore whether nursing professionals’ psychological states affect their grief response for a patient’s death in the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) inpatients’ ward.Methods Survey was conducted among frontline nursing professionals working in COVID-19 inpatients wards at three tertiary-level affiliated hospitals of the University of Ulsan during April 7–26, 2022. Participants’ information such as age, years of employment, or marital status were collected, and their responses to rating scales including Pandemic Grief Scale (PGS) for healthcare workers, Stress and Anxiety to Viral Epidemics-9 items (SAVE-9), Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), Loneliness and Social Isolation Scale, and Insomnia Severity Scale (ISI) were collected.Results All 251 responses were analyzed. We observed that 34% reportedly suffered from depression. The linear regression analysis showed that a high PGS score was expected by high SAVE-9 (β=0.12, p=0.040), high PHQ-9 (β=0.25, p<0.001), high loneliness (β=0.17, p=0.006), and high ISI score (β=0.16, p=0.006, F=20.05, p<0.001). The mediation analysis showed that the depression of nursing professionals directly influenced their pandemic grief reaction, and their work-related stress and viral anxiety, insomnia severity, and loneliness partially mediated the association.Conclusion We confirm that frontline nursing professionals’ depression directly influenced their grief reaction, and their work-related stress and viral anxiety, insomnia severity, and loneliness partially mediated the association. We hope to establish a psychological and social support system for the mental health of nurses working in the COVID-19 wards.
초등학교 계절의 변화 수업에서 학습안내 제시물을 활용한 거꾸로 수업의 효과 탐색

본 연구는 인쇄물 형태의 학습안내 제시물을 활용하여 초등학교 과학 수업에서 거꾸로 수업을 실시했을 때 어떤 효과가 있는 지를 알아보기 위한 것이다. 연구는 6학년 학생을 대상으로 실시하였으며, 학급의 학습 분위기와 성취가 유사한 2개 반을 선정하여 연구반(27명)과 비교반(26명)으로 각각 1학급씩 선정하였다. 연구반의 경우 인쇄물 형태의 학습안내 제시물을 활용한 거꾸로 수업을 적용한 과학 수업이 진행되었고, 비교반의 경우 기존 과학 수업의 형태로 진행되었다. 연구 결과 학습안내 제시물을 활용한 거꾸로 수업의 학습동기 측면에서 효과를 살펴본 결과, 내적 동기 영역에서 학생들의 호기심을 향상시키고, 과제가치 영역에서의 과학 수업 내용에 대한 관심을 높이는데 효과적이었으나 학업성취도에는 큰 차이가 없었다. 그러나 인쇄물 형태의 학습안내 제시물을 활용한 거꾸로 수업은 의사소통과 교육환경 측면에서 가장 큰 만족을 느끼는 것으로 나타났다. The purpose of this study was to explore the effect of flipped learning applied printed reading material (PRM) and getting implications for the application of flipped learning applied PRM. For the purpose of this study, we made the flipped learning programs applied printed reading material and applied them to the 6th grade science class in the elementary school. Selection of the applied test is considered the special feature of flipped learning and existing researches about the flipped learning. The PRM contains the Science words, conceptions, explanation about contents. And it was added to checking system by quiz. The results were as follows: The science class applied PRM was effective on increase in Korean elementary school students` the curiosity (in Intrinsic Goal Orientation) and attention (in Task Value) about science class content. There were no significant difference in the results of academic achievement. But the improvement of students` academic achievement in class applied PRM were bigger than that of those in class applied existing methods that follow the process of the teacher`s guidebook in the same way. Students had the highest satisfaction about communication and environmental education in the class applied PRM.
A study on H<sub>2</sub> plasma treatment effect on a-IGZO thin film transistor

<▼1><B>Abstract</B><P/></▼1><▼2><P>We report the effect of H2 plasma treatment on amorphous indium-gallium-zinc-oxide (a-IGZO) thin-film transistor (TFT). The changes in electrical characteristics and stability of the a-IGZO TFT treated by H2 plasma were evaluated under thermal stress. Each device exhibited a change in the subthreshold swing, turn on voltage shift, and hysteresis depending on the amount of hydrogen atom. It was found that there occurred a decrease of oxygen deficiency and an increase of hydrogen content in channel layer and channel/dielectric interface with increasing treatment time. The proper hydrogen dose well passivated the oxygen vacancies; however, more hydrogen dose acted as excessive donors. The change of oxygen vacancy and total trap charge were explained by the activation energy from Arrhenius plot. Through this study, we found that the optimized H2 plasma treatment brings device stability by affecting oxygen vacancy and trap content in channel bulk and channel/dielectric interface.</P></▼2>

<P>We discuss a traffic load balancing scheme for three-dimensional (3D) wireless mesh networks (WMNs), which deals with global load balancing through only one-hop local information. With a finite element method (FEM), we derive a distributed form of a solution for 3D Poisson's equation to construct a routing metric sensitive to traffic loads. For practical validation, we implement it on an IEEE 802.11-based WMN testbed platform. Experiment results show that our protocol chooses routing paths more efficiently for network-wide load balancing than a state-of-the-art routing protocol, OLSR-ETX.</P>
