An integrated space–time framework for linkage discovery of big survey data

        Xinyue Ye,Xiang Lian,Hongwei Xu,Jiaxin Du,Shuming Bao 대한공간정보학회 2024 Spatial Information Research Vol.32 No.2

In the realm of survey research, establishing connections within large datasets remains a challenge. This study aims to unveil underlying connections within extensive survey data, emphasizing the need for a more integrated approach to decipher intricate relationships among survey elements. Utilizing computational semantics, machine learning, and advanced spatiotemporal models, we developed an all-encompassing database. This novel database is adept at extracting and characterizing features from a multitude of survey studies, spotlighting relationships among metadata elements such as terms, variables, and topics. The derived relationships are systematically stored as connectivity matrices. These matrices not only quantify the degree of interconnectedness among features but also provide insights into their complex interplay. As a result, our system functions akin to a digital geographical data librarian. Beyond merely serving as a storage tool, this system facilitates interdisciplinary research. It equips researchers with the capability to discern connections between survey elements, enabling them to identify the most infuential paths among features based on diverse criteria. Such a tool fosters cross-disciplinary integration and unveils potential ties between seemingly unrelated survey attributes, paving the way for breakthroughs in understanding and application.

Enhancing routes selection with real-time weather data integration in spatial decision support systems

        Xinyue Ye,Shoujia Li,Subasish Das,Jiaxin Du 대한공간정보학회 2024 Spatial Information Research Vol.32 No.4

A notable shortcoming in contemporary digital navigation systems is their failure to incorporate live weather data. This study investigates the possibility of improving urban navigation experiences by integrating real-time weather data. We developed a navigation tool that utilizes weather data from the OpenWeather API, providing users with real-time insights into weather conditions such as temperature, wind speed and direction, precipitation, and atmospheric pressure. This tool enables users to make informed decisions about their routes and travel plans by providing updated temperature information for selected routes and assessing the risk of road sections based on weather conditions. Incorporating weather data into navigation systems has the potential to enhance driving safety, minimize travel durations, and alleviate weather-related disturbances in urban settings.

Ectopic expression of grape hyacinth R3 MYB repressor MaMYBx affects anthocyanin and proanthocyanidin biosynthesis and epidermal cell differentiation in Arabidopsis

        Wang Jiangyu,Zhang Boxiao,Tian Shuting,Zhang Han,Gong Jiaxin,Chen Kaili,Du Lingjuan 한국원예학회 2022 Horticulture, Environment, and Biotechnology Vol.63 No.3

Single-repeat R3 MYB transcription factors regulate multiple developmental and metabolic pathways in plants. The anthocyanin-related R3 MYB repressor MaMYBx was previously identified in grape hyacinth (Muscari spp.), and its ectopic expression reduced the accumulation of anthocyanin in tobacco petals. However, whether the function of MaMYBx is conserved across plant species remains unclear. Here, we report that ectopic expression of MaMYBx regulates anthocyanin and proanthocyanidin (PA) biosynthesis and epidermal cell differentiation in Arabidopsis. MaMYBx overexpression in Arabidopsis decreased the accumulation of anthocyanin and PA by downregulating the late structural genes (AtDFR, AtANS, AtANR, and AtGST), some key regulatory factors of MBW complexes (AtPAP1, AtTT8, and AtGL3) and an R3 MYB gene (AtCPC) involved in flavonoid biosynthesis. In addition, MaMYBx also modulated trichome formation and root hair differentiation by downregulating MBW component genes (AtGL1, AtWER, and AtGL3) and their target gene AtGL2 and by upregulating several R3 MYB genes (AtTRY and AtTCL1). We further found that MaMYBx transgenic plants accumulated less anthocyanin than did wild-type plants under salt, osmotic pressure, cold, and nitrogen stresses. Moreover, the effect was even greater, and significantly less anthocyanin accumulated. In conclusion, these results implied functional conservation of MaMYBx in anthocyanin and PA biosynthesis pathways of Arabidopsis. Therefore, MaMYBx likely represents a new potential gene for the molecular breeding of horticulture and ornamental plants via the regulation of anthocyanin and PA.

Visual Tracking Using Improved Multiple Instance Learning with Co-training Framework for Moving Robot

( Zhiyu Zhou ),( Junjie Wang ),( Yaming Wang ),( Zefei Zhu ),( Jiayou Du ),( Xiangqi Liu ),( Jiaxin Quan ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2018 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.12 No.11

Object detection and tracking is the basic capability of mobile robots to achieve natural human-robot interaction. In this paper, an object tracking system of mobile robot is designed and validated using improved multiple instance learning algorithm. The improved multiple instance learning algorithm which prevents model drift significantly. Secondly, in order to improve the capability of classifiers, an active sample selection strategy is proposed by optimizing a bag Fisher information function instead of the bag likelihood function, which dynamically chooses most discriminative samples for classifier training. Furthermore, we integrate the co-training criterion into algorithm to update the appearance model accurately and avoid error accumulation. Finally, we evaluate our system on challenging sequences and an indoor environment in a laboratory. And the experiment results demonstrate that the proposed methods can stably and robustly track moving object.

Improving Soil-Water Characteristics and Pore Structure of Silty Soil Using Nano-aqueous Polymer Stabilisers

        Wei Huang,Cuiying Zhou,Zhen Liu,Hao Sun,Jiaxin Du,Lihai Zhang 대한토목학회 2021 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.25 No.9

Polymer soil stabilisers have been shown to improve soil strength and erosion resistance, for example on slopes where topsoil can be easily eroded. However, fundamental mechanisms of soil stabilisers in soil enhancement through modifying the soil-water characteristic and microstructure of soil (e.g., distribution of pore size) have not been fully understood. This gap in understanding is not conducive to the subsequent development and engineering applications of soil stabilisers. This paper reports a series of experimental studies on the influence of nano-aqueous adhesive (NAA) in modifying the pore size distribution and water content of the soil. The results show that NAA can change the soil-water characteristic curve and has the potential to increase water retention capacity, which is essential for vegetation growth on a slope. In addition, they indicate that NAA could improve soil microstructure and pore uniformity by blocked small pores. The results also show that the NAA could reduce wilting coefficient, improve air entry value, and thereby protect vegetation, which helps stabilise the slope.

Combination of High-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol and Lipoprotein(a) as a Predictor of Collateral Circulation in Patients With Severe Unilateral Internal Carotid Artery Stenosis or Occlusion

        Shuyin Ma,Meijuan Zhang,Huiyang Qu,Yuxuan Cheng,Shuang Du,Jiaxin Fan,Qingling Yao,Xiao Dong Zhang,Mengying Chen,Nan Zhang,Kaili Shi,Yizhou Huang,Shuqin Zhan 대한신경과학회 2022 Journal of Clinical Neurology Vol.18 No.1

Background and Purpose Collateral circulation is considered an important factor affecting the risk of stroke, but the factors that affect collateral circulation remain unclear. This study was performed to identify the factors associated with collateral circulation, especially blood lipids. Methods The study involved patients who had undergone digital subtraction angiography and were confirmed as having severe unilateral stenosis or occlusion of the internal carotid artery (ICA). We classified the collateral circulation status of each patient as good (Grade 3 or 4) or poor (Grade 0, 1, or 2) according to the grading system of the American Society of Interventional and Therapeutic Neuroradiology/American Society of Interventional Radiology. We collected data on patients’ characteristics and identified the factors that affect collateral circulation. Results This study included 212 patients. The multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) concentration and a complete anterior half of the circle of Willis were independent protective factors for good collateral circulation, whereas elevated lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] and serum creatinine concentrations were independent risk factors for good collateral circulation. The area under the receiver operating characteristics curve (AUC) was 0.68 (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.61–0.76) for HDL-C and 0.69 (95% CI, 0.62–0.76) for Lp(a). A binary logistic regression model analysis of the joint factor of HDL-C and Lp(a) yielded an AUC of 0.77 (95% CI, 0.71–0.84). Conclusions In patients with severe unilateral ICA stenosis or occlusion, the combination of HDL-C and Lp(a) is a useful predictor of collateral circulation.
