        Synthesis of isoamyl salicylate using a novel mesoporous titania superacid as a catalyst

        Mesoporous titania was prepared by hydrothermal method and mesoporous titania solid superacid catalyst was prepared by wet impregnation method. The structure and property of the as-prepared catalysts were characterized by means of XRD, FT-IR and N2 physical adsorption. Isoamyl salicylate was synthesized by using concentrated sulfuric acid and solid superacid as catalyst, respectively. The effects of the molar ratio of raw material, the amount of catalyst, reaction time and reaction temperature on the yield of the product were systematically investigated. The results show that mesoporous titania solid superacid is a good catalyst for synthesizing isoamyl salicylate. The optimum conditions of isoamyl salicylate synthesized by using mesoporous titania solid superacid are the following: the molar ratio of salicylic acid to isoamyl alcohol is 1 : 4, the quantity of catalyst is 1.6 g, the reaction time is 5 h, the reaction temperature is 130 oC and the yield can reach 94.6%.

        Damping of Inter-Area Low Frequency Oscillation Using an Adaptive Wide-Area Damping Controller

        This paper presents an adaptive wide-area damping controller (WADC) based on generalized predictive control (GPC) and model identification for damping the inter-area low frequency oscillations in large-scale inter-connected power system. A recursive least-squares algorithm (RLSA) with a varying forgetting factor is applied to identify online the reduced-order linearlized model which contains dominant inter-area low frequency oscillations. Based on this linearlized model, the generalized predictive control scheme considering control output constraints is employed to obtain the optimal control signal in each sampling interval. Case studies are undertaken on a two-area four-machine power system and the New England 10-machine 39-bus power system, respectively. Simulation results show that the proposed adaptive WADC not only can damp the inter-area oscillations effectively under a wide range of operation conditions and different disturbances, but also has better robustness against to the time delay existing in the remote signals. The comparison studies with the conventional lead-lag WADC are also provided.

      • The Research on WSNs Localization Algorithm for Danger Area Warning

        Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are a new kind of data acquisition technology for danger area warning to ensure the safety of personnel production operation. In order to apply the suitable wireless node localization algorithm for danger area warning,an improved CT-IPIT+ algorithm is proposed in this paper.Considered the "edge effect", the algorithm improved the interior point judgment rules which reduces the error rate of Out-To-In effectively.Through the selection of reasonable restriction threshold, the In-To-Out error is eliminated.By counting number of inside and outside judgement results, the purpose of reducing the total error rate of misjudgment is further realized.Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can reduce the rate of two types of errors and the total error rate can be controlled under 6.3%.

        Silencing of Long Non-Coding RNA MALAT1 Promotes Apoptosis of Glioma Cells

        The metastasis-associated lung adenocarcinoma transcription 1 (MALAT1) is a highly conserved long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene. However, little is known about the pathological role of lncRNA MALAT1 in glioma. In the present study, we explored the expression level of lncRNA MALAT1 in primary glioma tissues as well as in U87 and U251 glioma cell lines. Using qRT-PCR, we found that the expression of lncRNA MALAT1 was significantly increased in glioma tissues compared with that of paracancerous tissues. Meanwhile, the expression of MALAT1 was highly expressed in U98 and U251 cells. In order to explore the function of MALAT1, the expression of MALAT1 was greatly reduced in U87 and U251 cells transfected with siRNA specifically targeting MALAT1. Consequently, cell viability of U87 and U251 cells were drastically decreased after the knockdown of MALAT1. Concomitantly, the apoptosis rate of the two cell lines was dramatically increased. Furthermore, the expression levels of some tumor markers were reduced after the knockdown of MALAT1, such as CCND1 and MYC. In summary, the current study indicated a promoting role of MALAT1 in the development of glioma cell.

        Simple and Sensitive Electrochemical Sandwich-type Immunosensing of Human Chorionic Gonadotropin based on b-cyclodextrin Functionalized Graphene

        The effective detection of human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) is considerably important for the clinical diagnosis of both of early pregnancy and nonpregnancy-related diseases. In this work, a simple and sensitive electrochemical sandwich-type immunosensing platform was designed by synthesizing b-cyclodextrin (CD) functionalized graphene (CD/GN) hybrid as simultaneously sensing platform and signal transducer coupled with rhodamine b (RhB) as probe. In brief, GN offers large surface area and high conductivity, while CD exhibits superior host-guest recognition capability, thus the primary antibody (Ab1) of HCG can be bound into the cavities of CD/GN to form stable Ab1/CD/GN inclusion complex; meanwhile, the secondary antibody (Ab2) and RhB can also enter into the cavities, producing RhB/Ab2/CD/GN complex. Then, by using Ab1/CD/GN as sensing platform and RhB/Ab2/CD/GN as signal transducer (in which RhB was signal probe), a simple sandwich-type immunosensor was constructed. Under the optimum parameters, the designed immunosensor exhibited a considerable low analytical detection of 1.0 pg mL<sup>-1</sup> and a wide linearity of 0.002 to 10.0 ng mL<sup>-1</sup> for HCG, revealing the developed sandwich-type electrochemical immunosensing platform offered potential real applications for the determination of HCG.

        Study on adaptive concentric performance of floating self-concentric seals

        In present study, solution models for CTPS, CCPS, and LS were established to study radial pressure distribution of the seals and to analyze the effects of inlet/outlet pressure ratios and eccentricity ratios on floating concentric force. A floating self-concentric seal experiment apparatus was designed to study the effects of inlet/outlet pressure ratios and eccentricity ratios on response time and moving track of CTPS, CCPS and LS. The results show that CTPS has a good adaptive concentric performance, which is more suitable as a floating seal ring. Under different inlet/outlet pressure ratios and eccentricity ratios, CTPS always move towards concentric direction, and thereafter stabilizes at equilibrium location with a low eccentricity ratio, which is contributed to the greater floating concentric force counteracting friction force between the ball and plate. With the increase of inlet/outlet pressure ratio and eccentricity ratio, it takes a shorter floating response time to reach the equilibrium location.
