A kinetic model for the oxidation of a $UO_2$ pellet to $U_3O_8$ powder has been suggested by considering the mass transfer and the diffusion of oxygen molecules. The kinetic parameters were estimated by a fitting of the experimental data. The activation energies for the chemical reaction and the product layer diffusion were calculated from the kinetic model. The oxidation conversion of a $UO_2$ pellet was simulated at various operating conditions. The suggested model explains the oxidation behavior of $UO_2$ well.

<P>In this paper, a multiple U-shaped slot antenna is described, designed, fabricated, and measured for Hiper-LAN. The design is based on a U-shaped slot and two inverted U-shaped slots. To obtain sufficient bandwidth, a foam layer is inserted between the ground plane and substrate. A measured impedance bandwidth approximately 400 MHz or about 7.6% (VSWR ≤ 1.5) referenced to the center frequency is obtained. The gain is measured at 5.43–4.45 dBi. The experimental far-field patterns are shown to be broad across the pass band, with the 3-dB beam width in azimuth and elevation at 58.17° and 66.57°, respectively. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Background: An 8-week feeding trial was designed to evaluate the potential of yellow mealworm (MW; Tenebrio molitor) as a locally available nutrient-rich feedstuff for rainbow trout fry (Oncorhynchus mykiss). Methods: Triplicate groups of fish (mean ± SE; 1.11 ± 0.01 g) were assigned to each of the five isonitrogenous and isocaloric practical diets containing graded level of a full fat MW (0, 7, 14, 21, and 28%) at the expense of fish meal (designated as MW0, MW7, MW14, MW21, and MW28, respectively). Results: Fish growth performance in terms of weight gain and specific growth rate significantly increased with increasing dietary MW level up to 14% and then declined when dietary MW levels further increased to 28%. Significantly higher protein efficiency ratio and lower feed conversion ratio were found in fish fed with diets containing MW compared to fish fed the control MW0. Myeloperoxidase activity was significantly higher in fish fed MW7 diet compared to fish fed the MW0 diet. Fish fed the MW14 and MW28 diets had significantly higher lysozyme activities than those fed the MW0 diet. Conclusions: Overall, the efficacy of MW as promising alternative to fish meal in practical diets for rainbow trout fry has been proved not only in relation to growth rates and feed utilization, but also from the viewpoint of immunopotentiation effects.

An electrochemical reduction of a mixture of metal oxides was conducted in a LiCl molten salt containing 3 wt% $Li_2O$ at $650^{\circ}C$. The oxide reduction was carried out by applying a current to an electrolysis cell, and the $Li_2O$ concentration was analyzed during each run. The concentration of $Li_2O$ in the electrolyte bulk phase gradually decreases according to Faraday's law due to a slow diffusion of the $O^{2-}$ ions. A hindrance effect of the unreduced metal oxides was observed for the reduction of the uranium oxide. Cs, Sr, and Ba of high heat-load fission products were diffused into and accumulated in the salt phase as predicted with thermodynamic consideration.

We have developed surface micromachined Infrared ray (IR) focal plane array (FPA), in which single SiO2 layer works as an IR absorbing plate and Pb(Zr0.3Ti0.7)O3 thin film served as a thermally sensitive material. There are some advantages of applying SiO2 layer as an IR absorbing layer. First of all, the SiO2 has good IR absorbance within 8 ~ 12 μm spectrum range. Measured value showed about 60% absorbance of incident IR spectrum in the range. SiO2 layer has another important merit when applied to the top of Pt/PZT/Pt stack because it works also as a supporting membrane. Consequently, the IR absorbing layer forms one body with membrane structure, which simplifies the whole MEMS process and gives robustness to the structure.
A Review of Pharmacopuncture Treatment for Frozen Shoulder: A Literature Review of Clinical Trials

The objective of this study was to review clinical trials of pharmacopuncture treatment for Frozen Shoulder and to evaluate trends in this field. The literature search was performed using PubMed, the Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and 5 Korean electronic databases. A combination of "pharmacopuncture," "acupoint injection," "Frozen Shoulder," "adhesive capsulitis," and "periarthritis of shoulder" search terms were used. A total of 9 studies were included in this review. The studies were classified into herbal extract-based (5 types) and animal-based (2 types) pharmacopuncture treatment of Frozen Shoulder. There were 14 different acupoints and Ashi points used in the 9 studies. The total volume of herbal extract-based pharmacopuncture injected was usually between 2 mL and 4 mL, and for animal-based pharmacopuncture it was 1 ml. In most studies of Frozen Shoulder, pain was reduced and function was significantly improved after pharmacopuncture treatment. These results demonstrate that pharmacopuncture alleviates pain and restores function in patients with Frozen Shoulder. Further studies must be conducted on pharmacopuncture for management of Frozen Shoulder.

인체 연조직에서 기계적인 진동의 전달 특성은 조직의 탄성 특성에 의존한다. 연조직의 진동 특성으로부터 암이나 종양을 진단할 수 있기 때문에 진동의 전달 특성에 대한 연구는 중요한 의미를 가진다. 이 논문은 연조직의 표면에 위치하는 여러 형태의 응력 진동원에 의해 연조직 내에 발생되는 변위 패턴을 분석하고 비교하였다. 진동원으로는 수직하중, 접선하중, 그리고 면외전단하중이 고려되었다. 점탄성 단일층에서의 변위에 대한 이론적 표현식을 구하였고, 수치계산은 반공간 및 무한평판조직에서 수행되었다. 그리고 유한크기조직에서의 변위패턴을 유한요소법으로 시뮬레이션하였다. 응력 형태, 진동원 크기 및 주파수, 그리고 경계면이 변위에 미치는 영향이 분석되었다. The propagation characteristics of a mechanical wave in human soft tissue depend on its elastic properties. Investigation of these propagation characteristics is of paramount importance because it may enable us to diagnose cancer or tumor from the vibration response of the tissue. This paper investigates and compares displacement patterns generated in soft tissue due to several forms of low-frequency vibration sources placed on a surface. Among vibration sources considered are a normal load, tangential load, and antiplane shear load. We derive analytical expressions for displacements in viscoelastic single layers, and calculate displacement patterns in half space and infinite plate type tissue. Also, we simulate the vibration response of a finite-sized tissue using finite element method. The effects of the type of stress, the size and frequency of vibration sources, and medium boundaries on displacement patterns are discussed.

The Cosmic Far-Infrared Background (CFIRB) contains information about the number and distribution of contributing sources and thus gives us an important key to understand the evolution of galaxies. In order to detect CFIRB fluctuation effectively, we have
