Does Green Bond Issuance Enhance Market Return of Equity Shares in the Indian Stock Market?

        Snehith Jacob Kodiyatt,Biju A V Nair,Manna Sarah Jacob,Krishna Reddy 한국증권학회 2024 Asia-Pacific Journal of Financial Studies Vol.53 No.3

This study examines the announcement effect of a green bond on the issuer's stock returns in the Indian Stock Market. The event study methodology for data analysis and abnormal returns were calculated using the market model for the 16‐day event window that includes the 5 days prior and 10 days after the issuance of the green bonds. The findings of this study show that green bond announcements do not create any significant abnormal returns, thus suggesting investors' irrationality toward environmental factors. This study informs policymakers that investor education relating to the environment is needed in India.

      • STIGMATIZED IN THE LUXURY MARKET: STEREOTYPE THREAT UNDERMINES LOWER-INCOME CONSUMERS’ LUXURY DECISION PERFORMANCE

Jacob Chaeho Lee 글로벌지식마케팅경영학회 2017 Global Fashion Management Conference Vol.2017 No.07

The present research investigated whether stereotypes embedded within the luxury market (Han, Nunes, & Dreze, 2010) can undermine decision performance for lower-income consumers, who encounter negative stereotypes about their ability to make good luxury product decisions. Two studies tested the effect of stereotype salience (Shapiro & Neuberg, 2007; Steele, 1997) on lower-income consumers’ performance on a luxury good decision task. In Study 1, we manipulated the decision domain (luxury versus economy purchase) and found evidence of the predicted stereotype threat effect among lower-income consumers performing a luxury (but not economy) market decision task. In Study 2, we manipulated the extent to which the luxury market stereotype would be seen as an accurate reflection of actual income-based differences in the ability to make good luxury product decisions. We found that the gap in the decision task between lower- and higher- income consumers was attenuated when the stereotype had been portrayed as inaccurate. Together, these studies suggest that marketers and policy-makers should recognize this stereotype threat in the marketplace, which undermines the quality of important purchase decisions by lower-income consumers, and should implement interventions to protect their welfare.

      • Evaluating Fluid Based Transient Calorimetric Method for Measurement of the Ferrite Core Losses

        Jacob Reynvaan,Milan Pajni?,Johann Krenn 전력전자학회 2023 ICPE(ISPE)논문집 Vol.2023 No.-

An evaluation of fluid based transient calorimetric method for measurement of ferrite core losses is presented in this paper. The calorimetric type of measurement of the ferrite core losses is considered to be an attractive solution to overcome the limits of the electrical measurements as it is largely independent of the excitation of the magnetics and the operating frequency. First, the performance of the adiabatic calorimeter with variable stirring speed is evaluated. Further on, the influence of specific heat capacity of different ferrite materials on measurement results was investigated by DC current injection method applied on different ferrite core samples. Finally, the proposed method for measuring ferrite loss is tested experimentally. Experimental results were presented in comparison to the results acquired from analytical calculation.

The Girinya Dance Theatre of The Tiv People of Nigeria : an Aesthetic Evaluation

Jacob Manase Agaku 국립민속박물관 2008 International Journal of Intangible Heritage Vol.3 No.-

‘Residual theatre’ is used to refer to mean ritualperformances that are still enacted but which have losttheir original purpose. Such performances can still beenjoyed and can still play a role in promoting socialcohesion and a sense of identity, so long as the performers, and the audience, recognise and accept the way they havechanged. The Girinya dance of the Tiv people of Nogeria, which was originally a war dance, is a case in point. In theTiv dance aesthetic, men’s dances should be vigorous andenergetic, as the Girinya dance is, but whereas in the pastthe dance was about the way warriors should behave inbattle, it is now about continuity and renewal. I have tried todescribe and evaluate this aesthetic and the way it hasbeen adapted to have a new meaning within the changingculture of the Tiv people.

The Return of the Returnee: A Historicized Reading of Adult Overseas Adoptees “Going Back” in South Korean Cinema

Jacob Ki Nielsen 한국학중앙연구원 한국학중앙연구원 2015 THE REVIEW OF KOREAN STUDIES Vol.18 No.1

This article concerns itself with representations of adult overseas adoptee returnees in South Korean cinema since liberation until the present/2015. Attempting to historicize these, it questions how the adoptee returnee—as a gendered and ethnoracialized figure—comments on text-embedded ideologies of Koreanness and kinship at different moments in time. It argues that adoptee returnee representation, as deployed in male-authored nation narration, has evolved in consolidation with the socio-economical, ideological and political circumstances of the day. The first part of the article traces the adoptee returnee figure as it first appeared in the films of the late 1960s and early 1970s. With the booming South Korean economy in the 1970s, the adoptee returnee figure largely disappeared from the silver screen and was “replaced” by representations of adoptees within their adoptive countries. Since the Asian Financial Crisis in 1997 and the official declaration of the New Multicultural South Korea in 2005/2006, the adoptee returnee has reappeared as a salient and refurbished figure in the cinescape, which can be considered as “a return of the returnee” (thus the title). The second part of the article offers a closer reading of returnees and family reunion discourse in postmillennial films.

      • THE CONSISTENCY OF CEO’S FASHION STYLE AND PERCEIVED TRUST

Jacob Chaeho Lee,MinChung Kim 글로벌지식마케팅경영학회 2017 Global Fashion Management Conference Vol.2017 No.07

The present research examines how a CEO exposed to the public through social media (e.g., Facebook) influences the trustworthiness of the CEO and his/her firm. In particular, we focus on and measure the consistency of a CEO’s fashion style across different occasions, and test the impact of the ‘fashion’ consistency on respondents’ perception on the CEO’s trustworthiness. Based on the previous literature on impression management, we define the consistency of a CEO’s fashion style as how similar (rather than different) the style of his/her clothes across multiple media exposures. We then manipulate the similarity of a CEO’s fashion style, which is the focal independent variable, and measure the subjects’ trust toward the CEO, which is the focal dependent variable. Study 1 is a scenario-based study in which participants read the description of either a fashion-consistent or -inconsistent CEO, and indicated the CEO’s perceived trustworthiness. We find that perceived trust is higher for the fashion-consistent CEO. Study 2 is an experiment in which participants read four news articles of a CEO featured on a social media (i.e., Facebook). Unbeknown to participants, fashion consistency was manipulated such that half of participants saw the news on a fashion-consistent CEO whereas the other half saw the news on a fashion-inconsistent CEO. Interestingly, the interaction between CEO gender and fashion consistency becomes significant, suggesting that for a male CEO, fashion consistency increased trust whereas for a female CEO, fashion inconsistency increased trust. The present research complements to the literature on the roles of fashion of employees including top managers on impression management. We also discuss other interesting and important implications of the results on the mechanism of the ‘fashion consistency’ effects.

      • Numerical Study on the Effect of Equivalence Ratio on Rotating Detonation Engine Flow field

        Jacobs Somnic,Foluso Ladeinde 한국추진공학회 2019 한국추진공학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2019 No.5

Rotating detonation engines (RDEs) have been extensively investigated recently as a candidate for an air-breathing propulsive system with high thermal efficiency, with most of the studies focusing on premixed combustion under stoichiometric conditions. Because a purely stoichiometric condition cannot be ascertained in realistic applications, the knowledge of the effects of equivalence ratio becomes very important. The present study has the objective of investigating the effects of equivalence ratio on premixed combustion in a realistic RDE system. For this purpose, both one-dimensional and two-dimensional spatial models are studied. The effects on the pressure, temperature, and chemical species distributions will be presented. A basic RDE is shown in Fig. 1. The combustion chamber is an annular ring, where the direction of flow is from the head end (bottom in figure) to the exit plane (top of figure). In experimental study, the fuel and oxidizer are injected separately into the combustion chamber to avoid backfire [2]. The mixing process occurs inside the combustion chamber while detonation wave propagates circumferentially to consume fresh reactive mixture. Schwer et al. [2] investigated the flow field of RDE in general and observed the effect of stagnation and back pressure on an RDE. In addition, Schwer et al.[3] also examined the fluid dynamics of rotating detonation engines with hydrogen and hydrocarbon fuels. Jin Zhou et al.[4] studied the effects of injection nozzle exit width on rotating detonation engine. These studies pertain to stoichiometric conditions. Only a handful of studies have investigated the effects of equivalent ratio. Wang et al.[5] recently investigated the effects of equivalence ratio and found that as the equivalence ratio increases, the velocity of the rotating detonation wave first increases and then decreases. Baoxing et al [6] experimentally studied the effects of equivalence ratio on RDE and found that for their engine model operating with equivalence ratio from 0.42 to 1.43, the rotating detonation wave was successfully initiated, and propagation self-sustained. In this study, we are interested to see how equivalence ratio influence RDE flow field in general. Furthermore, we want to see how it affects the detonation wave structure Key Words: Rotating Detonation Engine, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Supersonic Combustion, Equivalence Ratio.
