Hemorheological changes and hematometric erythrocyte characteristics in rats after sodium nitrite intoxication

        Ivanov, Ivan,Gluhcheva, Yordanka,Petrova, Emilia,Antonova, Nadia 한국유변학회 2014 Korea-Australia rheology journal Vol.26 No.2

Sodium nitrite ($NaNO_2$) is a precursor to a variety of organic compounds (pharmaceuticals, dyes and pesticides), but it is best known as a food additive. The aim of the study is to investigate the influence of acute (i.p.) treatment of Wistar rats with $NaNO_2$ (at the dose of 50 mg/kg b.w.) on the blood rheological properties and erythrocyte hematometric indices (Hb, HCT, RBC, MCV, RDW, MCH, MCHC). The significant differences were not found in the whole blood viscosity (WBV) values of the control and $NaNO_2$-treated groups. The changes in the erythrocyte hematometric indices were statistically significant for RDW, MCHC and MCH at the $1^{st}$ hour, five- and ten days after $NaNO_2$ administration. Interestingly, at the day $5^{th}$ of the $NaNO_2$ treatment we obtained statistically significant lower values for the RBC count, Hb, HCT, RDW, as well as elevated indices MCV (no statistically significant), MCH, MCHC. The results obtained indicate that hemorheological and hematometric parameters examined should be monitored in cases of acute exposure to nitrites - for the purposes of clinical toxicology. The quantitative values of hematometric indices reported in our experimental model could be suitable for predicting $NaNO_2$ intoxication and methemoglobinemia in animals and humans.

Application of Different Diffraction Peak Profile Analysis Methods to Study the Structure Evolution of Cold-Rolled Hexagonal α-Titanium

        Ivan V. Ivanov,Daria V. Lazurenko,Andreas Stark,Florian Pyczak,Alexander Thömmes,Ivan A. Bataev 대한금속·재료학회 2020 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.26 No.1

This paper presents a comparison between the “classical” and the modified Williamson–Hall and Warren–Averabach methodsapplied to an analysis of the microstructure of -titanium. The microstructural parameters of cold-rolled titanium specimenswere retrieved from analysis of the X-ray diffraction (XRD) peaks. The high-quality XRD patterns were received at the P07beamline (The High Energy Materials Science) at the German electron synchrotron. The dependence of the crystallite size, the inhomogeneous microstrains, the average dislocation density, the dislocation cut-off radius and some other parameterson the plastic strain were estimated. The results clearly indicate that, due to the consideration of the dislocation contrasteffect, the modified models are a much better fit to the experimental data in comparison with the “classical” models. Theresults of hardness and corrosion resistance measurements of Ti samples can be explained based on the results obtainedfrom the XRD analysis.

Essential Occupational Safety and Health Interventions for Low- and Middle-income Countries: An Overview of the Evidence

Verbeek, Jos,Ivanov, Ivan Occupational Safety and Health Research Institute 2013 Safety and health at work Vol.4 No.2

There is still a considerable burden of occupational diseases and injuries in the world. It is not well known which interventions can effectively reduce the exposures at work that cause this burden. The objective of this article is to summarize evidence from systematic reviews of interventions to prevent occupational diseases and injuries. We included systematic reviews of interventions to reduce the incidence of work-related cancer, dust-related diseases, occupational asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, noise induced hearing loss, back pain, and occupational injuries. We searched Medline and Embase with predefined search strategies to locate systematic reviews of these interventions. We found 23 systematic reviews of which the results are also applicable to low- and middle income countries. Effective measures to reduce exposure leading to work-related cancer, dust-related diseases, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, noise, and injuries are available. However, better implementation of these measures is needed. Regulation, enforcement of regulation, and incentives for employers are effective interventions to achieve this goal. There is evidence that feedback and rewards for workers help in reducing occupational injuries. There is no evidence in many studies that back pain can be prevented. Personal protective equipment technically has the potential to reduce exposure but this is difficult to put into effect. There is no evidence in the studies regarding the effectiveness of education and training, preventive drugs, or health examinations. There is evidence that the implementation of technical measures enforced by regulation can prevent occupational diseases and injuries. For other interventions such as education or health examinations, there is no evidence that supports their effectiveness. More systematic reviews are needed in the area of injury prevention.

      • Entropy Estimation of the Position of the Barrier Dimension

        Berik Akhmetov,Alexander Ivanov,Anis Gilmutdinov,Ivan Ognev,Kaiyrkhan Mukapil 제어로봇시스템학회 2015 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2015 No.10

It is shown that large neural networks allow solving tasks that cannot classical quadratic forms in linear algebra. Thus the assessment of output entropy of neural network converters biometrics code is possible. The assessment of high-dimensional entropy is based on the symmetrization of the problem of the correlation of biometric data. Entropy of low dimension and high-dimensional entropy are differently connected with equally correlated data. For low-dimensional transformations only short-sighted algorithms, which not capable to bypass local extrema of quality are effective. The algorithms constructed on the accounting of multidimensional entropy are far-sighted, they don"t see local extrema.

Identification and Characterization of Acetyl-CoA Carboxylase Gene Cluster in Streptomyces toxytricini

        아타나스데미레프,Ji Seon Lee,Bhishma R. Sedai,Ivan G. Ivanov,남두현 한국미생물학회 2009 The journal of microbiology Vol.47 No.4

The gene locus for acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) involved in the primary metabolism was identified from the genomic library of Streptomyces toxytricini which produces a lipase inhibitor lipstatin. The 7.4 kb cloned gene was comprised of 5 ORFs including accD1, accA1, hmgL, fadST1, and stsF. In order to confirm the biochemical characteristics of AccA1, the gene was overexpressed in Escherichia coli cells, and the recombinant protein was purified through Ni2+ affinity chromatography. Because most of the expressed AccA1 was biotinylated by host E. coli BirA in the presence of D-biotin, the non-biotinylated apo-AccA1 was purified after gene induction without D-biotin, followed by exclusion of holo-AccA1 using streptavidin beads. The separated apo-AccA1 was post-translationally biotinylated by S. toxytricini biotin apo-protein ligase (BPL) in a time- and enzyme-dependent manner. This result supports that this gene cluster of S. toxytricini encodes the functional ACC enzyme subunits to be biotinylated.
