Permeability- and Surface-Energy-Tunable Polyurethane Acrylate Molds for Capillary Force Lithography
Suh, Dongchul,Tak, Hyowon,Choi, Se-jin,Kim, Tae-il American Chemical Society 2015 ACS APPLIED MATERIALS & INTERFACES Vol.7 No.43

A permeability- and surface-energy-controllable polyurethane acrylate (PUA) mold, a “capillary-force material (CFM)” mold, is introduced for capillary-force lithography (CFL). In CFL, the surface energy and gas permeability of the mold are crucial. However, the modulation of these two main factors at a time is difficult. Here, we introduce new CFM molds in which the surface energy and permeability can be modified by controlling the degree of cross-linking of the CFM. As the degree of cross-linking of the CFM mold increases, the surface energy and air permeability decrease. The high average functionality of the mold material makes it possible to produce patterns relatively finely and rapidly due to the high rate of capillary rise and stiffness, and the low functionality allows for patterns to form on a curved surface with conformal contact. CFMs with different functionality and controllable-interfacial properties will extend the capabilities of capillary force lithography to overcome the geometric limitations of patterning on a scale below 100 nm and micro- and nanopatterning on the curved region.

Graphic Abstract

ACS Electronic Supporting Info

Seo, Hyowon,Yun, Hwayoung,Lee, Sujin,Jang, Jaebong,Han, Young Taek,Kim, Dae-Duk,Lee, Jeeyeon,Suh, Young-Ger American Chemical Society 2013 Organic letters Vol.15 No.3

The enantioselective synthesis of 7-epi-incarvilline for formal syntheses of (−)-incarvilline, (+)-incarvine C, and (−)-incarvillateine is described. The key features of our synthesis involve (1) stereoselective construction of the optically active bicyclic lactone utilizing Pd(0)-catalyzed allylic alkylation, (2) efficient transformation of the bridged bicyclic lactone to the key bicyclic lactam skeleton, and (3) stereoselective elaborations of two stereocenters via a substrate-controlled catalytic hydrogenation and a 1,4-addition.

Graphic Abstract

ACS Electronic Supporting Info

Soonhwan Kim,Hyowon Suh The Pacific Early Childhood Education Research Ass 2023 Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhoo Vol.17 No.2
This study aims to conduct philosophical discussions with kindergarten teachers to understand their perceptions regarding the adoption of intercultural education through. To this end, eight kindergarten teachers’ perceptions of intercultural education were grasped, initially through individual face-to-face interviews and additionally-after dividing the teachers into two groups of four-through philosophical discussions. First, through repeated questioning and grounds suggestions on philosophical questions during the active discussion, the kindergarten teachers were found to engage in reconceptualization toward mutual agreement. Secondly, the teachers were found to have different perceptions of how intercultural education affects early childhood teachers versus how it affects children. They suggested that philosophical discussions may be effective in intercultural education for teachers, while a democratic class climate should be formed within the current framework of education in advance to allow children to practice intercultural education. Ultimately, it was suggested that the highlighted topics and cases that make intercultural education possible should be developed for early childhood teachers and children.
A Recommendation System for Design Information based on PDM Data
Gyeongjune Hahm,Hyowon Suh (사)한국CDE학회 2013 한국CAD/CAM학회 국제학술발표 논문집 Vol.2010 No.8
During the product development process, a large amount of knowledge is created and organized in the form of documents, drawings, reports, and email. In general, engineers perform their assigned tasks using these stored engineering data. Therefore, to promote the productivity of engineers, it is necessary to assist engineers by suggesting relevant design information. In particular, for most novice engineers, since they are not always aware of what they need to know during their tasks, appropriate information recommendations are more necessary. Thus, we propose a recommendation system for design information based on user’s task context. For this purpose, an approach for capturing user’s interested parts/assembly based on the PDM (Product Data Management) data is introduced. Also, based on the interested parts of the user, a recommendation method to provide design information related to the user’s task is introduced.

Most engineers in manufacturing industries routinely handle large volumes of engineering documents that are stored in PLM system. The challenge for extracting knowledge from the engineering documents is to quickly gather the right information from unstructured text in engineering documents into a structured knowledge. Since context is very important information to understand knowledge in unstructured text, it should be extracted and reflect to organize a structured knowledge. Several studies to extract knowledge from unstructured text focus on extracting concepts and their relationships using matching between terminologies in text and concepts in a predefined ontology. They did not extract context information from unstructured texts. This paper undertakes the in-depth analysis of failure analysis documents collected from a manufacturing company and provides a method for failure knowledge extraction based on failure context, which enables to prevent potential failure in a design process by securing the failure knowledge. Two-layered model, failure-context and product-component layers, is also developed to exploit both failure knowledge and relevant design information through a series of proposed linguistic operations.
수명주기가 긴 제품의 설계정보관리를 위한 다층 제품정보 모델링 방안
이재현(Jaehyun Lee),서효원(Hyowon Suh) (사)한국CDE학회 2012 한국CDE학회 논문집 Vol.17 No.4
This paper proposes a multi-level product modeling framework for long-term lifecycle products. The framework can help engineers to define product models and relate them to physical instances. The framework is defined in three levels; data, design model, modeling language. The data level represents real-world products, The model level describes design models of real-world products. The modeling language level defines concepts and relationships to describe product design models. The concepts and relationships in the modeling language level enable engineers to express the semantics of product models in an engineering-friendly way. The interactions between these three levels are explained to show how the framework can manage long-term lifecycle product information. A prototype system is provided for further understanding of the framework.

Mobile harbor is a novel type harbor system that can be moved out to the outside of general harbor to allow large container ships to unload cargo without having to come into port. The mobile harbor system is developed to reduce the time ships are required to remain at harbor and to build harbors capable of receiving large ships regardless of depth and tides. However, the mobile harbor consists of many complex components such as stabilized crane system at the sea, transfer unit, high speed container handing system at the quay, etc. and they must be evaluated as a integrated system for optimal construction of the mobile harbor. In this paper, efficiently integrated 3D simulation platform for mobile harbor is developed with Siemens NX and Plant Simulation which are well known general purpose PLM software, for evaluation of the various performances of the mobile harbor. To show effectiveness of the developed simulation platform, the one feasible arrangement of the mobile harbor from various alternatives is selected and simulation result is carried out. The simulation result shows that the developed simulation platform can be adopted to evaluate performances of the mobile harbor.
