      • Sinapic acid(SA) attenuated the letrozole-induced ovarian fibrosis and modulated the abolic disturbances in polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS) SD rat

        This study investigated the antifibrotic effects of SA on ovarian fibrosis in letrozole-induced PCOS in rats. SA treatment restored letrozole-induced alterations in the body weight (BW), relative weights of the ovaries, and visceral adipose tissues. Histological observation showed that SA reduced the number of atretic follicles, cystic follicles, and fibrosis of the ovaries in PCOS rats. SA treatment also modulated the serum levels of sex hormones, which decreased the luteinizing hormone (LH), and testosterone (T) and increased the follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) in PCOS rats. Administration of SA reduced letrozole-induced metabolic dysfunction by decreasing the serum levels of triglyceride (TG) and total cholesterol (TC) and increasing the levels of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) in PCOS rats. Finally, SA treatment appeared to increase the activity of PPAR-γ, reduce the activation of the TGF-β1/Smad pathway, and reduce the collagen I, α-SMA and CTGF levels in the ovaries of the PCOS rats. Our results demonstrated that SA significantly ameliorated ovarian fibrosis and abolic disturbances in the letrozole-induced PCOS rats.

      • Rhamnocitrin (Rha) attenuates ovarian fibrosis in rats with letrozole-induced experimental polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)

        In this study, we investigated the antifibrotic effects of Rha on letrozole-induced PCOS in rats.         Study on Fiber Cutting Performance of Isometric Straight Bar Plate with Different Bar Angle

        The refining plate is a direct-acting component of refiners in pulping, and the bar profile of it have a major impact on fiber cutting, which affects the paper forming and strength of the formed paper. In this paper, the fiber average length, the fiber length distribution, the original fiber cutting rate and adjacent fiber cutting rate of samples collected in different refining time are used to analyze the fiber cutting mechanism of the isometric straight bar refining plates with different bar angles. The results show that the fiber cutting performance of plates gradually decreases and the limit fiber cutting length of the plate increases with the increase of the bar angle which is opposite to the conclusion predicted by specific edge load (SEL). However, the fiber cutting action of plates is gradually weakened until the average fiber length is reduced to the limit cutting length of plates. Meanwhile, the cutting mechanism of the straight bar plates with different bar angles is different. The larger bar angle of plate, the lower fiber cutting rate and the adjacent cutting rate of which is basically kept constant during refining, while the adjacent cutting rate of smaller bar angle plate on fibers gradually decreases with refining and finally remains constant. The study on the cutting performance of different bar angle plates has positive significance for the selection and design of refining plates for different pulping process.

        Parametric Design and Performance Characteristic of Isometric Curved Bar Plate Based on SEL and SSL

        Curved bar plate is common used in the pulp refining, but its design method is rather vague due it complex shape. A design method of isometric curved bar plate using two main parameters, the starting point and bar angle of central curve, was proposed in this paper and the calculation of characterization parameters of specific edge load (SEL) and specific surface load (SSL) was described. Isometric curved bar plates designed by two methods, one with fixed starting point and various bar angles and another with fixed bar angle and various starting points, were analyzed by characterization parameters of SEL and SSL. It would be expected to design isometric curved bar plate by the first method and the SEL would be a useful refining intensity to measure it in actual refining, however, the refining characteristics of different isometric curved bar plates should be further studied. The study on the design of isometric curved bar plate would be conductive to the research of curved bar plate and rapid design of it.

        PREPARATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF SILVER NANOPARTICLES/CARBON NANOFIBERS VIA ELECTROSPINNING WITH RESEARCH ON THEIR CATALYTIC PROPERTIES

        Ag nanoparticles (Ag NPs) embedded carbon nano¯bers (CNFs) were prepared by a new routewhich included chemical reaction process, electrospinning and calcination technique. The mor-phology and structure of the composite nano¯bers were investigated by scanning electron mi-croscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy and X-raydi®raction. It indicated that Ag NPs were uniformly distributed in the CNFs. This e®ectivesynthesis method can be used to prepare other composite nano¯bers with functionality. The AgNPs/CNFs that served as supported catalysts were used in the styrene epoxidation by TBHP. The Ag NPs/CNFs catalyst showed its highly catalytic activity for the epoxidation of styrene(conversion: 40.6%, SO selectivity: 35.9%). This kind of composite nano¯ber membrane wasproved e®ectively catalytic activity and recycled easily in the styrene epoxidation.

        Highly Sensitive Luminescence Assessment of Bile Acid Using a Balofloxacin-Europium(III) Probe in Micellar Medium

        A novel and simple method of luminescence enhancement effect for the determination of trace amounts of bile acid was proposed. The procedure was based on the luminescence intensity of the balofloxacin-europium(III) complex that could be strongly enhanced by bile acid in the presence of sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS). Under the optimum conditions, the enhanced luminescence intensity of the system exhibited a good linear relationship with the bile acid concentration in the range 5.0 × 10−9 - 7.0 × 10−7 mol L−1 with a detection limit of 1.3 × 10−9 mol L−1 (3σ). The relative standard deviation (RSD) was 1.7% (n = 11) for 5.0 × 10−8 mol L−1 bile acid. The applicability of the method to the determination of bile acid was demonstrated by investigating the effect of potential interferences and by analyzing human serum and urine samples. The possible enhancement mechanism of luminescence intensity in balofloxacin-europium(III)-bile acid-SDBS system was also discussed briefly.

        Advanced Gastric Cancer and Perfusion Imaging Using a Multidetector Row Computed Tomography: Correlation with Prognostic Determinants

        Objective: To investigate the relationship between the perfusion CT features and the clinicopathologically determined prognostic factors in advanced gastric cancer cases. Materials and Methods: A perfusion CT was performed on 31 patients with gastric cancer one week before surgery using a 16-channel multi-detector CT (MDCT) instrument. The data were analyzed with commercially available software to calculate tumor blood flow (BF), blood volume (BV), mean transit time (MTT), and permeability surface (PS). The microvessel density (MVD), was evaluated by immunohistochemical staining of the surgical specimens with anti- CD34. All of the findings were analyzed prospectively and correlated with the clinicopathological findings, which included histological grading, presence of lymph node metastasis, serosal involvement, distant metastasis, tumor, node, metastasis (TNM) staging, and MVD. The statistical analyses used included the Student’s t-test and the Spearman rank correlation were performed in SPSS 11.5. Results: The mean perfusion values and MVD for tumors were as follows: BF (48.14 16.46 ml/100 g/min), BV (6.70 2.95 ml/100 g), MTT (11.75 4.02 s), PS (14.17 5.23 ml/100 g/min) and MVD (41.7 11.53). Moreover, a significant difference in the PS values was found between patients with or without lymphatic involvement (p = 0.038), as well as with different histological grades (p = 0.04) and TNM stagings (p = 0.026). However, BF, BV, MTT, and MVD of gastric cancer revealed no significant relationship with the clinicopathological findings described above (p > 0.05). Conclusion: The perfusion CT values of the permeable surface could serve as a useful prognostic indicator in patients with advanced gastric cancer.         No-Load Power of Disc Refiner in Low Consistency Refining

        Disc refiner is the key equipment in pulping and papermaking process, and the no-load power of disc refiner will directly affect the refining efficiency. So the refining efficiency and energy saving of the refining process will be promoted through theoretical and experimental study on it. In this paper, the measurement and the theoretical calculation method of the no-load power of disc refiner in low consistency refining were summarized. And the effects of pulp properties, control parameters and bar parameters of refining plate on no-load power were analyzed. The main research direction of the no-load power of disc refiner was proposed which has a positive significance on energy saving and pulp quality improvements of refining process.
