This study examined the influence of situated teaching on the effectiveness of a property management company’s employee training. The study findings revealed that the training recipients exhibited a considerable improvement in learning outcomes after the intervention and showed an overall satisfactory learning attitude during the training. An expert interview and onsite investigation were performed to identify five systems (i.e., electrical and mechanical system, fire protection system, light-current system, elevator system, and gas system) in the sample apartment complex. These systems were used as the training materials. The study results determined that the recipients displayed lower degrees of familiarity with the electrical and mechanical, gas, and fire protection systems than with the other two systems. Therefore, this study suggested that more attention must be paid to these three systems in future employee training. Shift time did not affect the recipients’ familiarity with the location and operation of the apartment facilities and equipment. Thus, this study suggests that field supervisors must provide individual instructions to subordinate employees to ensure smooth property management. Property management service personnel provide round-the-clock field services to the residence areas they serve to immediately respond to emergency facility or equipment problems and minimize potential loss of property. This dedicated work attitude is aptly a core value that the property management service industry has long promoted.

Compared with land-based helicopters, ship-based helicopters are required to land in a more challenging working environment as the airwakes generated by the wind field flowing through the superstructure of the ship changes the wind field structure. This complicates the wind field structure and affects the safety of flight control. The flight safety of the helicopter pilot can be significantly improved with prior understanding of the relevant information in the ship-based helicopter operating limits (SHOL) diagram. In previous studies, the SHOL diagram of ship-based helicopters has been obtained using numerical simulations in conjunction with a flight simulator. However, the flight simulator equipment is expensive and difficult to maintain. This study references the aforementioned studies by initially employing a numerical simulation method to obtain the flow field information of the interaction between the airwakes of the ship’s superstructure and the downwash flow of the helicopter. Then, the flight simulator is replaced by computational intelligence methods involving artificial intelligence. This significantly reduces the research cost for envelope construction. This study integrates design of experiments (DOE) and computational intelligence techniques (soft computing) to establish a recommended range for the SHOL diagram of ship-based helicopters. This study utilizes the DOE and computational intelligence techniques to construct the SHOL diagram of ship-based helicopters, provide suggestions, and serve as a reference for helicopter pilots and engineering designers to improve the safety during flight.

<P>PtS2 is a newly developed group 10 2D layered material with high carrier mobility, wide band gap tunability, strongly bound excitons, symmetrical metallic and magnetic edge states, and ambient stability, making it attractive in nanoelectronic, optoelectronic, and spintronic fields. To the aim of application, a large-scale synthesis is necessary. For transition-metal dichalcogenide (TMD) compounds, a thermally assisted conversion method has been widely used to fabricate wafer-scale thin films. However, PtS2 cannot be easily synthesized using the method, as the tetragonal PtS phase is more stable. Here, we use a specified quartz part to locally increase the vapor pressure of sulfur in a chemical vapor deposition furnace and successfully extend this method for the synthesis of PtS2 thin films in a scalable and controllable manner. Moreover, the PtS and PtS2 phases can be interchangeably converted through a proposed strategy. Field-effect transistor characterization and photocurrent measurements suggest that PtS2 is an ambipolar semiconductor with a narrow band gap. Moreover, PtS2 also shows excellent gas-sensing performance with a detection limit of ∼0.4 ppb for NO2. Our work presents a relatively simple way of synthesizing PtS2 thin films and demonstrates their promise for high-performance ultrasensitive gas sensing, broadband optoelectronics, and nanoelectronics in a scalable manner. Furthermore, the proposed strategy is applicable for making other PtX2 compounds and TMDs which are compatible with modern silicon technologies.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>
Calvarial Defect Healing Induced by Small Molecule Smoothened Agonist
Lee, Soonchul,Shen, Jia,Pan, Hsin Chuan,Shrestha, Swati,Asatrian, Greg,Nguyen, Alan,Meyers, Carolyn,Nguyen, Vi,Lee, Min,Soo, Chia,Ting, Kang,James, Aaron W. Mary Ann Liebert 2016 Tissue engineering. Part A Vol.22 No.23
<P>Hedgehog (Hh) signaling positively regulates both endochondral and intramembranous ossification. Use of small molecules for tissue engineering applications poses several advantages. In this study, we examined whether use of an acellular scaffold treated with the small molecule Smoothened agonist (SAG) could aid in critical-size mouse calvarial defect repair. First, we verified the pro-osteogenic effect of SAG in vitro, using primary neonatal mouse calvarial cells (NMCCs). Next, a 4mm nonhealing defect was created in the mid-parietal bone of 10-week-old CD-1 mice. The scaffold consisted of a custom-fabricated poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) disc with hydroxyapatite coating (measuring 4mm diameterx0.5mm thickness). Treatment groups included dimethylsulfoxide control (n=6), 0.5mM SAG (n=7) or 1.0mM SAG (n=7). Evaluation was performed at 4 and 8 weeks postoperative, by a combination of high-resolution microcomputed tomography, histology (H & E, Masson's Trichrome), histomorphometry, and immunohistochemistry (BSP, OCN, VEGF). In vivo results showed that SAG treatment induced a significant and dose-dependent increase in calvarial bone healing by all radiographic parameters. Histomorphometric analysis showed an increase in all parameters of bone formation with SAG treatment, but also an increase in blood vessel number and density. In summary, SAG is a pro-osteogenic, provasculogenic stimulus when applied locally in a bone defect environment.</P>

Social and behavioral scientists have proposed that a person's belief system crucially influences his or her behaviour, and therefore may affect outcomes of pain management. The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between analgesic beliefs, analgesic adherence and pain experience amongst Taiwanese cancer outpatients. The cross-sectional study included 92 oncology outpatients in two teaching hospitals in the Taipei area of Taiwan. The research instruments included the Pain Opioid Analgesic Beliefs Scale-Cancer (POABS-CA), opioid adherence, and the Brief Pain Inventory-Chinese (BPI-Chinese). Beliefs about pain and opioids demonstrated a significant relationship with patients' opioid adherence (r = -0.30, p < 0.01). The more negative beliefs regarding opioids and pain the patient had, the worse their adherence to around the clock (ATC) analgesic regimen. However, there was no significant correlation between opioid belief and pain experience. As well, there were no significant relationships between adherence to opioid regimen and any of the measures of pain experience. The study highlights the potential importance of a patient's pain and opioid beliefs in adherence to pain medication.

The study was inspired by the specialized facial masks made of rayon non-woven fabrics which contained collagen peptides for improving moisturizing function. This study explored the moisturizing function of a rayon fabric containing collagen peptides extracted from tilapia fish scales under various conditions of relative humidity. This research had implications for the development of clothing that can prevent dry skin. A two-stage nested design experiment was adopted. The first-stage factor such as the fabric has two levels and the second-stage factor such as the relative humidity with three levels nested under each level of the first-stage factor. Preliminary results indicated that introducing a new variable (i.e., fabric moisturizing value, which combines the moisture regains of adsorption and desorption) would be useful. The moisturizing value of the novel rayon fabric and regular rayon fabric increased with the increase in relative humidity, and moisturizing effect of the novel rayon fabric with collagen peptides was better than that of the regular rayon fabric. Therefore, the novel rayon fabric may be suitable for preventing dry skin in winter.
