        Antiviral Activities of Natural Compounds Derived from Traditional Chinese Medicines against Porcine Circovirus Type 2 (PCV2)

        Twenty natural compounds isolated fromtraditional Chinese medicines were examined for theirantiviral activities against PCV2 in vitro. Antiviral activitywas analyzed by the assays of blocking of virus entry,inhibition of virus replication and inactivation of virusparticles in the virus suspension. 50% cytotoxic concentration(CC50) and 50% effective concentration (EC50) for eachcompound were determined by using the MTT method andimmunofluorescence assay (IFA), respectively. The resultsobtained from the inhibition of virus replication andinactivation of virus particles showed that the maximuminhibition rates for matrine and scutellarin were 57 and72.69% and their SI were 29.87 and 18.66, respectively. However, the results from the assays of inhibition of virusentry and inhibition of virus replication demonstrated thatboth aesculetin and arecoline hydrochloride stimulatedPCV2 replication, with the maximum stimulation rate of387.3 and 219.4%. In summary, both matrine and scutellarinhad antiviral activity against PCV2, while aesculetin andarecoline hydrochloride promoted PCV2 infection replicationin vitro.

It is also stated that a practical case of the WPCS in Heilongjiang north China. The operation results demonstrate practicability and the advancement of the system.

        Effect of Fluctuation in Al Incorporation on the Microstructure, Bond Lengths, and Surface Properties of an AlxGa1-xN Epitaxial Layer

        AlxGa1-xN (0.15 ≤ x ≤ 0.87) epilayers were grown on sapphire substrates by metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD). The lattice deformation, chemical bonding states, and local electronic structure were characterized by a series of techniques, including X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman scattering, X-ray photoelectron (XPS), and extended Xray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) spectroscopy. The XRD and Raman spectra revealed that substitution of Ga with Al in AlxGa1-xN epilayers induces a significant contraction in the crystal lattice and a slight expansion of internal parameter u. The XPS measurements indicated the absence of remarkable disorder of the chemical bonds in AlGaN with a high Al content. The EXAFS analysis also demonstrated that the Ga-N and Ga-Al bond lengths are independent of the Al content, whereas the Ga-Ga bond length varies with Al content.

        Damage Evolutions and AE Characteristics for Square Concrete-Filled Steel Tubular Columns Under Axial Load

        The damage evolutions of square concrete-fi lled steel tubular (CFT) columns were experimentally studied by the axial compression cyclic loading test and the acoustic emission (AE) monitoring technique. Based on the mechanical analysis and damage observations, the limit damage states, i.e. inner concrete cracking, confi nement of steel tube, yielding and buckling of steel tube, weld seam splitting and inner concrete spalling were verifi ed. The released strain energy due to the damage of CFT column was monitored by the AE technique and analyzed by the peak frequency classifi cation method. The results show that the buckling of steel tube is the damage state with the maximum load carrying capacity for CFT columns. Most of the released strain energy were detected by the AE signals with the peak frequency between 30 and 75 kHZ and most of the strain energy were released after the buckling of the steel tube.

      • Design and Optimization of Micro Gas Sensor

        The ordinary gas sensor has low material utilization, high power consumption, temperature distribution uneven and poor consistency problems. Based on film processing technology, this paper designs a new structure of micro gas sensor. Triangle type design is first adopted in the structure, with platinum as the electrode material, ceramics substrate. Using ANSYS Workbench to analysis different size electrode and substrate that including the temperature field, stress field and the optimization design for substrate and electrode, the sensor can be uniform temperature distribution, stress of small and the effective control of power consumption, it is beneficial to improve the overall performance of the sensor. In addition, the sensor is tested to verify the accuracy of the finite element simulation.

        Synthesis of SrTiO3 Fibers and Their Effects on the Thermoelectric Properties of La0.1Dy0.1Sr0.75TiO3 Ceramics

        SrTiO 3 fi bers were fabricated by an in situ hydrothermal method using hydrated TiO 2 fi bers as both template and reactant. La 0.1 Dy 0.1 Sr 0.75 TiO 3 powders containing x wt.% SrTiO 3 fi bers ( x = 0, 1, 3, 5) were prepared by the sol–gel method andthen sintered at 1450 °C under a reducing atmosphere (N 2 /H 2 = 95/5). XRD analysis showed that the samples were mainlycomposed of SrTiO 3 phase and a few Dy 2 Ti 2 O 7 phase. TiO 2 phase was detected in the samples with x = 3 and x = 5, and itspeak intensity clearly reinforced with increasing x . With the addition of SrTiO 3 fi bers, the electrical conductivity increasedsignifi cantly and the Seebeck coeffi cient kept almost unchanged, resulting in a high power factor of 1015 μW m −1 K −2 at200 °C with a loading of 3 wt.% SrTiO 3 fi bers. Meanwhile, combined with low thermal conductivity, the sample with 3 wt.%SrTiO 3 fi bers showed the peak ZT value of 0.19 at 500 °C, which was 127% higher than that of La 0.1 Dy 0.1 Sr 0.75 TiO 3 .

        Physiological responses and small RNAs changes in maize under nitrogen deficiency and resupply

        Background Maize is an important crop in the world, nitrogen stress severely reduces maize yield. Although a large number of studies have identified the expression changes of microRNAs (miRNAs) under N stress in several species, the miRNAs expression patterns of N-deficient plants under N resupply remain unclear. Objective The primary objective of this study was to identify miRNAs in response to nitrogen stress and understand relevant physiological changes in nitrogen-deficient maize after nitrogen resupply. Methods Physiological parameters were measured to study relevant physiological changes under different nitrogen conditions. Small RNA sequencing and qRT-PCR analysis were performed to understand the response of miRNAs under different nitrogen conditions. Results The content of chlorophyll, soluble protein and nitrate nitrogen decreased than CK by 0.52, 0.49 and 0.82 times after N deficiency treatment and increased than ND by 0.52, 1.36 and 0.65 times after N resupply, respectively. Conversely, the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and peroxidase (POD) increased by 0.67 and 1.64 times than CK after N deficiency, respectively, and decreased by 0.09 and 0.35 times than ND after N resupply. A total of 226 known miRNAs were identified by sRNA sequencing; 106 miRNAs were differentially expressed between the control and N-deficient groups, and 103 were differentially expressed between the N-deficient and N-resupply groups (P < 0.05). Real-time quantitative PCR (qPCR) was used to further validate and analyze the expression of the identified miRNAs. A total of 1609 target genes were identified by target prediction, and some differentially expressed miRNAs were predicted to target transcription factors and functional proteins. Gene Ontology (GO) analysis was used to determine the biological function of these targets and revealed that some miRNAs, such as miR169, miR1214, miR2199, miR398, miR408 and miR827 might be involved in nitrogen metabolism regulation. Conclusion Our study comprehensively provides important information on miRNA functions and molecular mechanisms in response to N stress. These findings may assist to improve nitrogen availability in plants.

      • Data Fusion Based Phase Space Reconstruction from Multi-Time Series

        Focused on the problem of imperfect information in the process of reconstruction from single time series, a new technology for phase space reconstruction from multi-time series based on the data fusion is proposed. Firstly, the methods Cao and mutual information are used to select the reconstruction parameters, time delay and embedded dimension; secondly, the social cognitive optimization algorithm is brought to calculate the weights for each variable; thirdly, an adaptive weighted fusion estimating method is applied for data fusion; lastly, the effectiveness of the methods mentioned in this paper is demonstrated by the analysis results of one case study of real chemical plant data sets, and the proposed methods in this paper can improve the completeness of the information of the reconstructed phase space, which is also a good foundation for further analysis of complex system.

        In vitro Screening of Traditional Chinese Medicines Compounds Derived with Anti-encephalomyocarditis Virus Activities

        The prevalence of encephalomyocarditis virus has brought about enormous financial losses to the swine industry throughout the globe. Chinese herbal medicines have potential antiviral activity which has been proved. Fifteen traditional Chinese medicine compounds were screened for anti-encephalomyocarditis virus (EMCV) activity. The maximum non-toxic concentration (MNTC), cytotoxic concentration 50% (CC50), maximal inhibition rate (MIR), and effective concentration 50% (EC50) against EMCV were measured using MTT and antiviral assays on baby hamster syrian kidney (BHK-21) cells. Two of the compounds, baicalin and matrine, with MIR > 50% and selective index (SI) > 3 were chosen for further virus load analysis. The results showed that the MIRs of baicalin and matrine were higher than that of positive control ribavirin while the SI values were much smaller than that of the control. Real-time quantitative PCR analysis demonstrated that baicalin and matrine have significant (p < 0.05) anti- EMCV activity compared to the control. It is a baseline study concluded that baicalin and matrine needs further development as an independent drugs or part of a Chinese medicine prescription for the treatment of EMCV infection.
