Breast cancer is a serious and potentially lethal multi-factor disease among 40-50 aged women in both developed and developing countries. Also, various studies have pointed to roles of neurotransmitters like serotonin in development of cancers, through action on various types of receptors. This study was conducted to evaluate serotonin receptor (5HT2AR and 5HT3AR) genes expression in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) of breast cancer patients in comparison with the healthy people and in the MCF7 cell line. Peripheral blood samples were obtained from 30 patients and 30 healthy individuals. Total RNA was extracted from PBMCs and MCF-7 cells. and 5HT2AR and 5HT3AR were detected by RT-PCR techniques. Finally, serotonin receptor gene expression variation in breast cancer patients and MCF-7 cells were determined by real time-PCR. This latter indicated significant promotion in expression of 5HT3AR and 5HT2AR in PBMCs in breast cancer patients but expression of 5HT2AR in the MCF-7 cell line was significantly decreased. In conclusion, after performing complimentary tests, determine of gene expression changes in serotonin receptors (5HT2AR and 5HT3AR) may be useful as a new approach in treatment of breast cancer based on use of antagonists.

In this paper, we assess future water demands for the agricultural (irrigation and livestock), energy (electricity generation, primary energy production and processing), industrial (manufacturing and mining), and municipal sectors, by incorporating water demands into a technologically-detailed global integrated assessment model of energy, agriculture, and climate change - the Global Change Assessment Model (GCAM). Base-year water demands - both gross withdrawals and net consumptive use - are assigned to specific modeled activities in a way that maximizes consistency between bottom-up estimates of water demand intensities of specific technologies and practices, and top-down regional and sectoral estimates of water use. The energy, industrial, and municipal sectors are represented in fourteen geopolitical regions, with the agricultural sector further disaggregated into as many as eighteen agro-ecological zones (AEZs) within each region. We assess future water demands representing six socioeconomic scenarios, with no constraints imposed by future water supplies. The scenarios observe increases in global water withdrawals from 3710km<SUP>3</SUP>year<SUP>-1</SUP> in 2005 to 6195-8690km<SUP>3</SUP>year<SUP>-1</SUP> in 2050, and to 4869-12,693km<SUP>3</SUP>year<SUP>-1</SUP> in 2095. Comparing the projected total regional water withdrawals to the historical supply of renewable freshwater, the Middle East exhibits the highest levels of water scarcity throughout the century, followed by India; water scarcity increases over time in both of these regions. In contrast, water scarcity improves in some regions with large base-year electric sector withdrawals, such as the USA and Canada, due to capital stock turnover and the almost complete phase-out of once-through flow cooling systems. The scenarios indicate that: 1) water is likely a limiting factor in meeting future water demands, 2) many regions can be expected to increase reliance on non-renewable groundwater, water reuse, and desalinated water, but they also highlight an important role for development and deployment of water conservation technologies and practices.
Efficient approach to extraction of texture browsing descriptor in MPEG-7

<P>An efficient method for extracting the texture browsing descriptor (TBD) of MPEG-7 using the nonlinear modified discrete Radon transform is proposed. Results show that the proposed method is very fast and extracts the components of TBD efficiently.</P>

Inhibitive performance of a new thiazolo-pyrimidine derivative has been investigated on mild steel in a solution of 1 M H2SO4. Electrochemical measurement, scanning electron microscope analysis and quantum chemical calculations are the tests and methods used to assess the performance of the inhibitors. The results indicate that the thiazolo-pyrimidine derivative used acts as a mixed-type inhibitor retarding the anodic and cathodic corrosion reactions. The studied compounds followed the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Thermodynamic parameters showed that inhibitor adsorption is physical as determined by those parameters. The effect of molecular structure on the inhibition efficiency was investigated by quantum chemical calculations.
Assessment of Various Ductile Damage Criteria in Numerical Simulations of Machining Processes

In the machining processes, chip removal can be performed by the applied forces. Therefore, predicting the required forces and energy is an essential challenge to reach the efficient processes. In this research, employing various ductile damage models of the continuum damage mechanics (CDM), a few machining processes such as 3D plane machining, 3D drilling, and turning are numerically simulated. Using the numerical simulations of finite element method (FEM), variations of the applied forces on the workpiece and the maximum force as well as the mechanism of chip formation during the machining processes are estimated. Besides, to assess the ductile damage models, the numerical simulation results are compared with the experimental results. The comparison reveals that the Ayada, Ayada negative, and Johnson–Cook damage criteria can accurately predict the required forces and respectively are the reliable models for numerical simulations of chip removal in the machining processes.

This study is an investigation into the factors affecting patient dissatisfaction among Saudi hospitals. The selected factors considered for analysis are security of information sharing, operational practices, disruptive technologies, and the ease of use of EHR patient information management systems. From the literature review section, it was clear that hardly any other studies have embraced these concepts in one as was intended by this study. The theories that the study heavily draws from are the service dominant logic and the feature integration theory. The study surveyed 350 respondents from three large major hospitals in three different metropolitan cities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This sample came from members of the three hospitals that were willing to participate in the study. The number 350 represents those that successfully completed the online questionnaire or the limited physical questionnaires in time. The study employed the structural equation modelling technique to analyze the associations. Findings suggested that security of information sharing had a significant direct effect on patient satisfaction. Operational practice positively mediated the effect of security of information sharing on patient dissatisfaction. However, ease of use failed to significant impact this association. The study concluded that to improve patient satisfaction, Saudi hospitals must work on their systems to reinforce them against the active threats on the privacy of patients' data by leveraging disruptive technology. They should also improve their operational practices by embracing quality management techniques relevant to the healthcare sector.
