      • Ligand-Asymmetric Janus Quantum Dots for Efficient Blue-Quantum Dot Light-Emitting Diodes

        <P>We present ligand-asymmetric Janus quantum dots (QDs) to improve the device performance of quantum dot light-emitting diodes (QLEDs). Specifically, we devise blue QLEDs incorporating blue QDs with asymmetrically modified ligands, in which the bottom ligand of QDs in contact with ZnO electron-transport layer serves as a robust adhesive layer and an effective electron-blocking layer and the top ligand ensures uniform deposition of organic hole transport layers with enhanced hole injection properties. Suppressed electron overflow by the bottom ligand and stimulated hole injection enabled by the top ligand contribute synergistically to boost the balance of charge injection in blue QDs and therefore the device performance of blue QLEDs. As an ultimate achievement, the blue QLED adopting ligand-asymmetric QDs displays 2-fold enhancement in peak external quantum efficiency (EQE = 3.23%) compared to the case of QDs with native ligands (oleic acid) (peak EQE = 1.49%). The present study demonstrates an integrated strategy to control over the charge injection properties into QDs via ligand engineering that enables enhancement of the device performance of blue QLEDs and thus promises successful realization of white light-emitting devices using QDs.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>

        Analysis of Narratography in Almodóvar’s Broken Embraces

        This study aims to examine how media interface in one of Pedro Almodovar’s latest features, Broken Embraces, functions at the moment of narrative bifurcations and consolidates the film’s cinematic theme, using Garrett Stewart’s “narratography” methodology as a basis. Four representative narratographically registered sequences of this film are analyzed, all of which are composed of diverse media juxtapositions from photos to films-within-a-film plot devices. The results reveal that visual tactility and digital indexicality associated with each given medium helps the audience not only embrace the film’s central theme in a more concrete way but also appreciate the inter-character bonds and emotions that rule the major plot drives on a much deeper level, compared with those that would be felt with only the surface medium of the film.

        마블시네마틱유니버스(MCU) ‘인피니티 사가’ 서사 구조 분석: 캡틴 아메리카를 중심으로

        본고의 목적은 마블시네마틱유니버스(MCU) 페이즈(phase) 1-3 시기인 ‘인피니티 사가(Infinity Saga)’의 개별 영화들 가운데 아이언맨에 이어 두 번째 중심 캐릭터라 할 수 있는 캡틴 아메리카 중심의 연속적 내러티브의 구조를 규명하기 위해 북미 및 국내에서 가장 대중적으로 활용되고 있는 시나리오 작법인 블레이크 스나이더(Blake Snyder)의 ‘세이브더캣(STC)’ 패러다임을 활용하고 그 실효성을 검증하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 총 952분에 이르는 7편의 영화들을 하나의 텍스트로 간주하여, 110분의 표준 극영화를 기준으로 15단계의 서사 단위(beat)로 구성된 STC 비트 패러다임의 원형이 제시하는 기준 비율에 의거하여 해당 서사 연속체를 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 조정된 STC 패러다임에서 제안하는 위치에서 15단계의 서사 단위가 적절하게 탐색되었으며, 이 탐색의 과정에서 각 서사 단위에 해당하는 극적 전환이 전체 내러티브에서 점유하는 의미를 재차 확인하는 과정을 통해 952분의 방대한 텍스트를 더욱 유기적으로 명료하게 분석해낼 수 있었다. 본 연구의 의의는 MCU 페이즈 1-3 시기의 중심 캐릭터 중 하나인 캡틴 아메리카 연계 서사 분석에 있어 STC 패러다임의 실효성을 입증함으로써, 호흡이 긴 시리즈물의 텍스트의 서사 구조를 분석적으로 파악하고 기획적으로 설계하는 데 있어서도 해당 패러다임이 유효함을 입증했다는 데 있다. 이러한 시도를 통해 페이즈 4로 진입을 앞둔 MCU의 종결된 ‘인피니티 사가’의 방대한 내러티브를 보다 포괄적이고 입체적으로 명확하게 파악하는 데 성공할 수 있었으며, 향후 추가 검증과 논의를 거친 후에 여타의 다른 시리즈물을 분석하고 기획하는 데에도 STC 패러다임을 유의미하게 활용할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다. As ‘Infinity Saga’of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) concluded in 2019, it is time to systematically analyze this storytelling of the phenomenal franchise. In order to identify the structure of the continuous stories focusing on ‘Captain America’, the second leading character of MCU Phase 1-3, this study used Blake Snyder’s “Save the Cat (STC)” Beat Sheet as the tool for narrative analysis. The seven films with 952 minute-run time in total was analyzed based on the 15-beat paradigm by adjusting the distance ratio between each beat of its prototype originally based on conventional 110-minute films. The results reveal that all 15 beats of the combined texts were fairly properly discovered in the positions suggested by the adjusted STC Beat Sheet. Moreover, through the investigation, the vast text was able to be analyzed in a far more comprehensive, satisfying manner in the process of reconfirming the meaning of the dramatic transition corresponding to each beat against the entire narrative. The significance of this paper lies in its attempt to prove the STC paradigm as a meaningful signpost for plot drives even for such a voluminous text, following the author’s previously successful analysis on combined texts focusing on another leading character of the same saga, ‘Iron Man.’ Therefore, it is believed that application of this paradigm would be likely to help not only analyze but also design other serialized franchises as well. Prior to that, however, it is necessary to continue examining other franchises designed in similar forms and intention to MCU movies through the same paradigm to verify effectiveness of such application.

        지하철 역사 내 경로탐색을 통한 성별 시지각-인지관계에 관한 연구

        (Background and Purpose)Since movements carried out within subway stations have a clear purpose, ease in terms of path-finding is very important. However, the public environment of cities is becoming increasingly complicated, and users are facing greater difficulties in finding their way. In addition, as the cognition of direction in underground spaces is restricted in terms of information that can be acquired externally with regard to the characteristics of the space, there is greater necessity for supplementary visual cues. Thus, from a preliminary knowledge point of view, this research investigates the visual environmental factors and gender cognition characteristics that influence spatial cognition among visitors searching for a path through the subway station. (Method) First, this study considered spatial cognition environments within underground spaces, and the composition required for path-finding, and identified the visual clues that are used to move through a subway station based on advanced research. Second, an eye-tracking test was carried out among sample groups that were equally divided by genders after establishing the test environment. Third, visual information based on advanced research was set as the “Area of Interest,” and observation characteristics were analyzed based on an observation data heatmap, number of observations, and time of observations. Fourth, gender cognition characteristics were analyzed based on previously considered observation characteristics, and a general conclusion was drawn after investigating the gender differences. (Results) This research identified a range of observation characteristics using a heatmap via a qualitative analysis, and a proportional relationship was established by drawing a correlation between the number of participants in the quantitative analysis. Based on this, a conclusion could be drawn from the differences in gender observation characteristics within the observation data. (Conclusions) First, reliance on signs was high in the case of signs that were attached to the ceiling, and in terms of the observation characteristics of the first visit; in revisits, there was a high frequency of relying on signs located higher in the ceiling. Second, unlike females, who observed the specific facilities in the ratio of observation number in situation first visit, males observed all factors of the space and showed high cognitive ability with respect to the place they visited first. Third, it was recognized that large and invariable factors acted as visual clues in the case of males, and small and variable factors formed visual clues in the case of females, when they searched areas during situation revisits. It was thus interpreted that the observation characteristics of males and females are similar, as the information-acquisition ability of females increased depending on the surrounding environment. Fourth, regarding the number of observations, the visual clues were influenced by the surrounding location and size, but also by the signs that indicated the purpose of the space and facilities.

        Prepregnancy Factors as Determinants of the Development of Diabetes Mellitus After First Pregnancy

        <P>Context: The identification of modifiable factors at prepregnancy or early pregnancy as well as continued monitoring and management of these factors before and during pregnancy may reduce the incidence of diabetes mellitus (DM) among women, regardless of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) status. Objective: This study aimed to identify prepregnancy factors for the development of DM in women with or without GDM in their first pregnancy. Design and Participants: This retrospective, observational, cohort study included data for 53 109 women who underwent a National Health Screening Examination through the National Health Insurance Corporation between 2002 and 2003 and had their first delivery in 2004 with follow-up until 2012. Main Outcomes: The main outcome of the study was the risk of developing DM after 8 years in women with and without GDM during their first pregnancy. Results: The cumulative risks of developing DM after 8 years were 8.4% and 3.3% in women with and without GDM during their first pregnancy, respectively. Old age, a family history of DM, obesity, a high fasting glucose level, and high total cholesterol level were associated with DM development in women without GDM. In women with GDM, a family history of DM, prepregnancy obesity, a high fasting glucose level, and a high total cholesterol level were associated with DM. When stratified by GDM status and the number of prepregnancy risk factors, the number of prepregnancy risk factors was associated with the risk of DM in women with or without GDM. Women with GDM had a higher risk of DM for the same number of prepregnancy risk factors than women without GDM. Conclusion: The results show that GDM may be a marker for development of DM in the future because it shares the same risk factors with DM development. Thus, eliminating other risk factors in women with GDM may lead to a reduction in the risk of DM.</P>

        적응적 완벽성 증진을 위한 집단상담 구안 및 효과 검증

        성취를 지향하는 현대사회에서 완벽한 모습을 추구하는 완벽성은 성공의 요소가 되기도 한다. 향후 인생의 목표를 설정하고 성취해 나가야하는 발달적 과제를 가지고 있는 대학생들에게 있어 완벽성은 성취의 밑거름으로 기능할 수 있다. 선행연구들에서는 완벽성을 개인의 취약한 성격요인으로 보고 완벽성의 역기능적인 면을 감소시키고자 하였다. 본 연구에서는 완벽성의 적응적인 기능에 초점을 맞추어 대학생들의 적응적 완벽성을 증진시키기 위한 집단상담을 구안하였으며 구조화된 집단상담을 2006년 1월에 실시하였다. 프로그램의 효과 검증을 위해 참여한 총 4명의 집단원들을 대상으로 회기별 내용을 분석하였고 반구조화된 질문지의 내용을 분석하였다. 그 결과 프로그램에 참여한 집단원들은 완벽주의에 대한 이해를 증진하고 완벽성의 기능적 측면을 확인한 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 의의와 제한점에 대한 논의를 덧붙였다. Perfectionism is one factor to be required to succeed in achievement-odented present-day. To undergraduate students who have developmental tasks such as setting a life goal, achieving the goal, perfectionism can be a foothold. In this study, a structured program for developing adjustable perfectionism of undergraduate students was designed, and operated on Jan, 2006. To evaluate the program, we analyzed contents of each session and semi-structured questionaries acquired from four participants. Through this analysis we found that participants' abilities in understanding perfectionism were enhanced and perfectionism had the functional effects. Further suggestions and studies for more effective application of the program were discussed.

      • 폐플라스틱 소재를 활용한 저탄소 층상배관 양변기 개발

        세라믹 소재의 위생도기는 1,250도 이상의 온도로 가열하여 만들어지며, 이는 자연상태에서 1,000년 이상 분해되지 않아 자연분해가 매우 어려워 폐기 시 환경문제를 야기한다. 또한 위생도기 중 양변기는 수자원 낭비 및 막힘이라는 고질적인 문제도 가지고 있다. 이러한 문제들을 해결하고자 재생이 어렵고 탄소배출량이 높은 세라믹 소재를 폐플라스틱을 활용한 재활용 소재로 대체한 초절수 및 막힘방지 층상배관 양변기를 개발하고자 한다. 폐플라스틱을 30% 이상 포함하는 폐플라스틱 재활용 소재 개발을 통해 양변기 무게를 약 30% 감소할 수 있으며, 제조·수송·사용·폐기단계에서 발생하는 탄소발생량을 약 40% 이상 저감할 수 있다. 또한 유연성 트랩 기술을 활용한 층상배관 양변기 개발을 통해 절수 1등급으로 막힘방지가 가능할 것으로 기대된다.
