Adsorbent minimisation in a two-stage batch adsorber for cadmium removal
Haya Alyasi,Hamish R. Mackey,Kavithaa Loganathan,Gordon McKay 한국공업화학회 2020 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.81 No.-
Cadmium is a toxic metal prevalent in a variety of industrial effluents that is toxic to both humans andanimals. This study utilizes nanochitosan, a polymer derived from crustacean shells, as an adsorbent forcadmium removal. The uptake capacity has been determined at 2.01 mmol/g and modelled by Langmuir,Freundlich and Sips isotherms, with the Sips isotherm the most suitable model for the adsorbent. In orderto minimise the amount of adsorbent used in a batch treatment process for the cadmium removal, a two-stage batch treatment has been proposed and optimised. A detailed evaluation is made of theconsequences of utilizing a less suitable isotherm, and on the benefits of utilizing a two-stage system overa single stage. Both errors from incorrect isotherms and advantages of a two-stage system are mostsignificant at low influent concentrations and high target removal efficiencies, relevant to environmentalregulatory discharge limits.

Zenab AlSadeq,Haya Alubaidan,Alanoud Aldweesh,Atta-ur-Rahman,Tahir Iqbal International Journal of Computer ScienceNetwork S 2023 International journal of computer science and netw Vol.23 No.6
The rapid increase in the use of new technology known as 'blockchain technologies' has addressed many challenges in different areas and provided benefits to users, in this paper we discuss the field of supply chains, improve confidence and transparency between participants and stakeholders significantly also in this paper we Compare between different blockchain frameworks focusing on most popular frameworks. Moreover, we proposed a model in the supply chain using a blockchain framework, the proposed supply chain model included many different resources that help to exchange information over the network. The proposed model also includes smart contracts that maintain all rules for transactions. using blockchain technology information such as transaction details, time and money are recorded and stored within the system from the beginning of the transaction entry.
Performance Evaluation of SDN Controllers: RYU and POX for WBAN-based Healthcare Applications
Lama Alfaify,Nujud Alnajem,Haya Alanzi,Rawan Almutiri,Areej Alotaibi,Nourah Alhazri,Awatif Alqahtani International Journal of Computer ScienceNetwork S 2023 International journal of computer science and netw Vol.23 No.7
Wireless Body Area Networks (WBANs) have made it easier for healthcare workers and patients to monitor patients' status continuously in real time. WBANs have complex and diverse network structures; thus, management and control can be challenging. Therefore, considering emerging Software-defined networks (SDN) with WBANs is a promising technology since SDN implements a new network management and design approach. The SDN concept is used in this study to create more adaptable and dynamic network architectures for WBANs. The study focuses on comparing the performance of two SDN controllers, POX and Ryu, using Mininet, an open-source simulation tool, to construct network topologies. The performance of the controllers is evaluated based on bandwidth, throughput, and round-trip time metrics for networks using an OpenFlow switch with sixteen nodes and a controller for each topology. The study finds that the choice of network controller can significantly impact network performance and suggests that monitoring network performance indicators is crucial for optimizing network performance. The project provides valuable insights into the performance of SDN-based WBANs using POX and Ryu controllers and highlights the importance of selecting the appropriate network controller for a given network architecture.
