Living with COVID-19: The Resilience of Korean English Teachers

This study is to find how Korean English teachers’ levels of resilience and teacher knowledge correlated. First, this study found Korean English teachers possess high levels of resilience and teacher knowledge in professional, emotional, social and motivational dimensions. Second, levels of groups of teachers exhibited some differences but these differences were generally not significant. Rather, differences in Korean English teachers’ individual competencies and experience were more significant. Third, a regression analysis of teacher resilience and knowledge found that the motivational dimension in particular influenced all knowledge systems of Korean English teachers. The motivational resilience of Korean English teachers is based on educational and technology training experience. It can be improved through the utilization of a teacher knowledge system. Finally, this study found that while the emotional and motivational dimensions had a low influence on general teacher resilience, they had a significant influence on teacher knowledge systems. In conclusion, this study suggests that the educational implications of teacher knowledge systems and teacher resilience are significant as educators prepare to live with COVID-19.

This study postulates that the inconclusive relationship between social and financial performance may be based on different motivation to engage in corporate social responsibility (CSR). As an unexplored dimension of the motivation for CSR actions, we propose the aspect that firms seek for enhancing ethical status, called conspicuous CSR. Drawn from the theory on conspicuous consumption (Veblen, 1899), we explore the possibilities that firms may spend their resources for society to reveal their ethical status. This implies that firms are likely to engage in CSR to advertise their CSR status. From this standpoint, we attempt to discern the behavioral aspect that a firm’s prosocial activities are dependent on its prior ethical status. And we investigate how different motivations, i.e. strategic CSR vs. conspicuous CSR, affect financial performance, especially instantiated by Tobin’s q. With a sample of 1,665 U.S. public firms between 1993 and 2012, we find that conspicuous CSR has a negative impact on market performance while strategic CSR has a positive impact. We expect that these findings can reconcile the inconclusive debate on the CSR-CFP relationship.

본 연구의 목적은 유아교육 관련 학술지 분석을 통한 유아교육에서 부모의 참여에 대한 연구동향을 다음 4가지 기준에 근거하여 조사하는데 있었다: 1) 빈도 및 전체 논문 대비 비율, 2) 연구대상, 3) 연구방법, 4) 연구내용. 연구자들은 2006년에서 2012년까지의 유아교육 관련 학술지에서 156개의 논문을 선정하여 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 부모참여 연구의 전체 논문 대비 비율은 일정한 수준을 유지하고 있었으나 2012년에는 비율이 증가하였다. 둘째, 연구대상은 큰 변화가 나타나지 않았으나 2012년에 부모 참여 관점에서 누리과정 및 무상보육 정책 자체를 연구의 대상으로 하는 사례가 증가하였다. 셋째, 양적 연구 방법이 큰 비중을 차지하고 있지만, 질적 연구와 같은 연구 방법들이 지속적으로 사용되고 있었다. 넷째, 연구의 내용은 양육태도 및 행동과 같은 내용이 높은 비중을 유지하고 있었다. The purpose of this study was to analyze the research trends of parent involvement in early childhood education based on the following categories: 1) overall proportion, 2) research participants, 3) research method, and 4) research topics. The study selected 141 research papers from 5 early childhood related journals. The results of the study are as follows: 1) The overall proportion of research related to parent involvement in early childhood education was maintaining its proportion; 2) The research participants were becoming more diverse, including multicultural and non-traditional groups; 3) Quantitative research method was still the majority in this area, but different types of research methods including qualitative research method are being used continuously; 4) Research topics were focused on specific topics.
UTAUT2 모델을 적용한 중학교 스마트 영어교육 환경에 관한 연구

This study aims to enhance the effectiveness of smart device English education in school by examining the intentions of 235 middle school students through the Extended Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT2) model. In this study, five factors, including performance expectancy, effort expectancy, facilitating conditions, hedonic motivation, and habit, were set as independent variables influencing students’ usage intentions for their smart devices. Gender, age, and usage time were considered as moderating variables. Findings revealed that hedonic motivation, performance expectancy, and habit significantly impacted the intention to use smart devices. Usage time emerged as the sole significant moderating factor, influencing the relationship between smart device characteristics and usage intentions. Additionally, middle school students’ subjective English course grades recognition, overall subject grade recognition levels, and smart device usage time all had a direct impact on their intention to use their devices; however, only English grades, performance expectancy, and hedonic motivation were statistically significant. While usage time directly affected intentions but not device characteristics. This comprehensive analysis sheds light on the intricate interplay of factors shaping students’ intentions to use smart devices.
