The application of entomopathogenic nematodes (EPN) and their symbiotic bacteria as biological controlapproaches depend on their lethal parasites to pest and antifungal activities against plant pathogenic fungi.Wehave collected 23 symbiotic bacterial strains from 23 EPN isolates gathered from different regions of China. Inthe present study, the insecticidal and antifungal activities of all these bacterial isolates were evaluated in thelaboratory. Bioassay results showed that the broth and crude extract of all these 23 EPN symbiotic bacteria strainshave, to a certain extent, oral insecticidal activity and/or growth inhibition to the larvae of Ostrinia furnacalis andantifungal activity against Bipolarismaydis and Curvularia lunata. Among these strains, SY5 exhibited highest insecticidaland antifungal activities to O. furnacalis, B. maydis and C. lunata. The adversity resistance of strain SY5showed that the antifungal activity of the broth was more stable than the insecticidal activity, and the stabilityof antifungal activity to B. maydis and C. lunata was different.

There is a significant demand to make various dissolved gases in water. However, the conventional aeration method shows low gas mass transfer rate and gas utilization efficiency. In this study, a novel rotating wheel entraining gas method was developed for making high dissolved $O_2$ and $O_3$ in water. It produced higher concentration and higher transfer rate of dissolved $O_2$ and $O_3$ than conventional bubble aeration method, especially almost 100% of gas transfer efficiency was achieved for $O_3$ in enclosed reactor. For application of rotating wheel entraining gas method, aerobic bio-reactor and membrane bio-reactor (MBR) were successfully used for treatment of domestic and pharmaceutical wastewater, respectively; and vacuum ultraviolet $(VUV)/UV+O_3/O_2$ reactors were well used for sterilization in air/water, removal of dust particles and toxic gases in air, and degradation of pesticide residue and sterilization on fruits and vegetables.
Natural occurrence of entomopathogenic nematodes in Liaoning (Northeast China)

Entomopathogenic nematodes (EPNs) can provide effective biological control of pest. In order to contribute toknowledge on these organisms for regional biological control programs,we studied EPN distribution and ecologicalrequirements in Liaoning Province, Northeast China. One hundred and forty-nine soil samples were takenfrom 36 locations. EPNs were recovered from 22 of the 36 locations (61.11%). Forty-four samples containedsteinernematids (89.80%) and 5 samples contained heterorhabditids (10.20%). EPN recovery varied among thedifferent soil and habitat type. Most EPNs were isolated from sandy loam, and most of the samples containingEPNs were collected from woodland and fruit crop habitats. The morphological characters of infective juvenileswere used for preliminary species diagnosis. We preliminarily identified 15 species of Steinernematidae(Steinernema litorale, Steinernema silvaticum, Steinernema feltiae, Steinernema bicornutum, Steinernemarobustispiculum, Steinernema affine, Steinernema riobrave, Steinernema yirgalemense, Steinernema kushidai,Steinernema scapterisci, Steinernema carpocapsae, Steinernema ritteri, Steinernema tami, Steinernema rarum andSteinernema sasonense) and 4 species of Heterorhabditidae (Heterorhabditis megidis, Heterorhabditis zealandica,Heterorhabditis brevicaudis and Heterorhabditis bajardi).

To solve the corrosion problem of the copper plates caused by fluoride ions, the Ni55 and CoCrNi medium-entropy alloycoatings were prepared via high-velocity oxygen fuel technology. The corrosion resistance of the Ni55 and CoCrNi coatingsin NaF solution was compared through electrochemical experiments and immersion corrosion experiments. The Ni55coating contained complex precipitated phases, resulting in preferential corrosion at the phase boundaries between the γ-Nisolid solution and the precipitated phases. The composition of the CoCrNi coating was more homogeneously distributed,and mainly uniform corrosion occurred. The corrosion products of the two coatings in the NaF solution were both complexescomposed of metal oxides and fluorides. Compared with the Ni55 coating, the passive film formed on the CoCrNi coatinghad a more uniform and protective property; therefore, the CoCrNi coating had better corrosion resistance. This researchcan pave a pathway for developing coating on copper and its alloys with excellent corrosion resistance.
Synthesis of light olefins from syngas over Fe–Mn–V–K catalysts in the slurry phase

Fe–Mn–V–K catalysts for the synthesis of light olefins from CO hydrogenation were prepared by a specially controlled degradation method. The effect of the V content on the structure and the catalytic performance of the catalysts were investigated in a continuously stirred tank slurry reactor. Mo¨ssbauer spectra (MES) results show that the incorporation of V with appropriate contents can improve the dispersion of the a-Fe2O3 phase. CO hydrogenation results indicate that a small addition of V can improve the product distribution. The addition can also increase the selectivity to light olefins by inhibiting the secondary hydrogenation reaction of the initial olefin. The best catalytic performance was obtained at the Fe/Mn/V molar ratio of 3/1/0.2. The total C2–C4 content in all hydrocarbons and O/P in the C2–C4 fraction were 49.15 wt% and 3.95, respectively.
