Backgrounds/Aims: Vitamin K may plays a role in controlling hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cell growth. In this study, we intended to present 5-year experience of 72 patients receiving oral vitamin K with or without sorafenib. Its end-point was to evaluate the safety of combination therapy using sorafenib and vitamin K. Methods: An interim analysis was performed as a single-arm cross-sectional study, including 72 HCC patients who underwent liver resection or transplantation and administered oral vitamin K2 alone (n=47) or with sorafenib (n=25). Results: In all patients, administration of vitamin K2 analog 45 mg/day did not show any noticeable adverse side-effect during vitamin K therapy of 23.3±10.6 months, except for one patient who experienced skin rash at the third day of vitamin K therapy. In 25 patients receiving sorafenib and vitamin K for 6 months or longer, any noticeable adverse side-effect suspected of vitamin K origin was not identified yet. A small proportion of patients showed unexpectedly favorable anti-tumor effects after use of vitamin K with or without sorafenib. Conclusions: Because add-on of oral vitamin K did not increase the adverse side-effects of sorafenib, a combination therapy with these two agents appears to be worthy of further clinical trial with an expectation of synergistic therapeutic effects.

Bruchid (Callosobruchus chinenesis L.) and pod sucking bug (Riptortus clavatus Thunberg) are serious insect pests during the reproduction stage and seed storage period of legume crops worldwide. However, few sources of resistance to each of these insects have been identified and characterized, and no genetic studies have been carried out with simultaneous tests of these two insects. In this study, the inheritance of seed resistance to Callosobruchus chinenesis L. and Riptortus clavatus Thunberg was examined in a mungbean cultivar, Jangan mungbean, which was developed by backcrossing with the V2709 resistant donor. The F1, F2, and F3 seed generations were developed from the cross between susceptible and resistant parents, and evaluated for resistance to the two insects. It was found that resistance to bruchid and bean bug was controlled by a single dominant gene in the F1 and F2 seeds. However, the segregation pattern of reciprocal reaction to each insect in F2 seeds showed seeds were susceptible to each insect. These results suggest that the resistance genes in Jangan mungbean to bug and weevil are either different or closely linked with each other. A genetic linkage map 13.7 cM in length with 6 markers was successfully constructed. Two QTLs were identified for bruchid resistance, and a QTL for bean bug resistance was detected. One of the QTLs for resistance to bruchid was shared with the QTL for bean bug. These newly developed closely linked markers will be used for cloning of the resistance genes to bruchid and bean bug in the future.
Fluorine Functionalized Graphene Nano Platelets for Highly Stable Inverted Perovskite Solar Cells

<P>Edged-selectively fluorine (F) functionalized graphene nanoplatelets (EFGnPs-F) with a p-i-n structure of perovskite solar cells achieved 82% stability relative to initial performance over 30 days of air exposure without encapsulation. The enhanced stability stems from F substitution on EFGnPs; fluorocarbons such as polytetrafluoroethylene are well-known for their superhydrophobic properties and being impervious to chemical degradation. These hydrophobic moieties tightly protect perovskite layers from air degradation. To directly compare the effect of similar hydrophilic graphene layers, edge-selectively hydrogen functionalized graphene nanoplatelet (EFGnPs-H) treated devices were tested under the same conditions. Like the pristine MAPbI(3) perovskite devices, EFGnPs-H treated devices were completely degraded after 10 days. The hydrophobic properties of EFGnPs-F were characterized by contact angle measurement. The test results showed great water repellency compared to pristine perovskite films or EFGnPs-H coated films. This resulted in highly air-stable p-i-n perovskite solar cells.</P>

The study was examined the characteristics of sedimentation and dehydration to draw up an efficient treatment of sludge. Sedimentation experiment performed on separated and mixed sedimentation about raw sludge and excess sludge. On separated sedimentation, the raw sludge was not occurred well concentration according to anaerobic reaction, but the excess sludge did well the separation of solid and liquid. On mixed sedimentation, the formation of their interface was in the ratio of one of raw sludge to three of excess sludge. Its efficiency decreased in comparison to that of the mixed sedimentation by the increase of raw sludge quantity. The dehydration experiment in the mix of excess sludge and digestion sludge was decreased dehydration efficiency by the increase of specific resistance coefficient, but was increased by more input of coagulant. Accordingly, the dehydration treatment had a good result in the mix of excess-sludge and digestion sludge generated by raw-sludge. 본 논문에서는 데이터베이스 관리자를 대상으로 한 안드로이드용 SQL*Plus 원격접속 애플리케이션을 개발하였다. 기존의 PC를 이용해 DB에 접근할 수밖에 없었던 시간적, 공간적 제약을 극복하는데 목적이 있으며 직관적인 UI와 여러 기능을 통해 사용자에게 편의를 제공하고자 한다.
