BubR1 acetylation at prometaphase is required for modulating APC/C activity and timing of mitosis

<P>Regulation of BubR1 is central to the control of APC/C activity. We have found that BubR1 forms a complex with PCAF and is acetylated at lysine 250. Using mass spectrometry and acetylated BubR1-specific antibodies, we have confirmed that BubR1 acetylation occurs at prometaphase. Importantly, BubR1 acetylation was required for checkpoint function, through the inhibition of ubiquitin-dependent BubR1 degradation. BubR1 degradation began before the onset of anaphase. It was noted that the pre-anaphase degradation was regulated by BubR1 acetylation. Degradation of an acetylation-mimetic form, BubR1–K250Q, was inhibited and chromosome segregation in cells expressing BubR1–K250Q was markedly delayed. By contrast, the acetylation-deficient mutant, BubR1–K250R, was unstable, and mitosis was accelerated in BubR1–K250R-expressing cells. Furthermore, we found that APC/C–Cdc20 was responsible for BubR1 degradation during mitosis. On the basis of our collective results, we propose that the acetylation status of BubR1 is a molecular switch that converts BubR1 from an inhibitor to a substrate of the APC/C complex, thus providing an efficient way to modulate APC/C activity and mitotic timing.</P>

This research is to understand customer satisfaction with virtual fitting based on a 3D body scanner and avatars as well as differences between avatars and the 'real me'. To this end, this research examined Korean college students to facilitate 3D body scanning, avatar generation and surveys. The author used 3D body scan data with direct measurements to identify differences between the 3D body scan data-based 'my avatar' and 'real me' in the virtual dress fitting system. The survey results on 'the level of customer awareness on 3D body scanner' found that the majority of both genders did not know about it and indicated a lower usability to incorporate IT technology into the fashion industry. The question in the 3D body scanning and avatar found an affirmative attitude. Satisfaction levels on the 3D avatars' similarity with 'own body' and garment fitting were positive and indicated a need for further technological improvements to express the avatars identical to customers' own body. More research is necessary for the accuracy of sizes for 3D body scanning that measure body sizes while wearing clothes. Avatars based on such datamay be less similar to 'own body' and cause customer dissatisfaction. Thus, further technology development is required to narrow gaps using data to make avatars that provide more accurate virtual fitting simulation services to customers.
THE IMPACT OF HUMOR IN ANNOUNCEMENTS ON SERVICE CUSTOMER’S INTENTION TO COMPLY WITH THE ANNOUNCEMENT

Service customers influence the quality of service outcome through their role in the service delivery process. As a way of informing customers of their role and motivating customers to play the role well, service providers often use auditory announcements. However, how to design an effective announcement for service customers still remains largely under-studied. To fill this gap in the research, the current study examines the impact of humor in a service announcement on customer intention to comply with the announced message. Specifically, we examine the impact of two humor design factors: location of humor in the announcement and the degree of message-relatedness of the humor. Further, we explore the structure of the impact of humor on customer intention to comply. We propose that the two design elements of humor will first influence the degree of customer perceptions of funniness of the announcement, which will influence the degrees of customer attention to the announcement and customer memory of the message, which will eventually influence customer intention to comply with the message. To empirically examine our hypotheses, we conducted a two (positions of humor: beginning versus ending of the announcement) by two (message relatedness of humor: strong versus weak) between-subject experiment. The context of our experiment was college students’ course evaluation. In the message, listeners were asked to participate in an online evaluation of the course which they were taking. Pre-recorded messages were played to students at the beginning of five different sections of one particular course at a business school in a major university in Seoul, Korea. The results of an ANCOVA analysis demonstrated the significant impact of both humor position in the message and the message-relatedness of the humor. A structural equation modeling analysis showed that perceived funniness influence customer attention to the announcement but not customer memory of the message. The degree of customer attention, in turn, influenced customer intention to comply with the announced message.
미이용 농축산 바이오매스 발생특성 및 데이터베이스 구축

우리나라는 저탄소 녹색성장을 새로운 국가비전으로 제시한 이후 「폐자원 및 바이오매스 에너지 대책」실행계획을 통해 폐자원 및 바이오매스를 국가 녹색성장 구현의 최적 대안으로 제시하고 다양한 사업 제안 및 실행계획을 수립하여 추진중에 있다. 이러한 활용정책 계획과 수립, 기술개발을 위해서는 폐자원 및 바이오매스 자원량에 대한 정확한 정보가 중요한데, 정확한 발생량 산정이 가능한 음식폐기물을 비롯한 생활계 폐자원바이오매스에 비해 국내 발생 바이오매스의 대부분을 차지하는 농산부산물바이오매스에 대해서는 별도의 통계조사를 시행하고 있지 않아 정확한 발생량 추정이 어렵다. 농산업에서 발생되는 바이오매스는 대부분은 작물 생산 과정에서 발생되며, 이중 식용부분을 제외한 비식용부분이 폐자원 바이오매스로 발생하는데, 이들의 효율적 이용을 위해서는 특성에 대한 정확한 정보가 필요하지만, 대부분의 연구는 식용 및 사료용 바이오매스 특성연구에 치중되어 있어 자원으로써 미이용 바이오매스의 활용계획 수립에 한계가 있다. 본 연구는 궁극적으로 지역단위 바이오매스 순환실증단지 모델 개발을 목표로 하고 있으며 이를 위해서는 지역에서 발생되는 바이오매스의 분류, 정확한 발생량 산정 및 특성을 바탕으로 한 활용방안 수립이 필요하다. 바이오매스는 에너지로서의 잠재성 이외에도 순환사회 구축을 위해 필수적인 물질자원으로서의 가치를 내재하고 있다. 따라서 바이오매스의 활용은 에너지 및 물질 순환을 고려한 방안 마련이 필요하다. 본 연구에서 바이오매스 순환단지모델지역의 물질자원화 및 에너지화를 위하여 지역별 특산물을 중심으로 농축수산 바이오매스 45종을 선정하여 발생특성을 조사하고 이화학적 성상분석을 통해 미이용계 농축수산 바이오매스45종에 대한 성상분석 데이터베이스를 구축하였다. 본 연구결과는 바이오매스 순환단지 추진을 위한 기초 자료로서의 가치를 가지며 향후 바이오매스 순환실증단지모델개발 및 사업화 과정에서 필수 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.
