In this article, we considered the stability of the following (${\alpha}$, ${\beta}$, ${\gamma}$)-derivation $${\alpha}D[x,y]={\beta}[D(x),y]+{\gamma}[x,D(y)]$$ and homomorphisms associated to the quadratic type functional equation $$f(kx+y)+f(kx+{\sigma}(y))=2kg(x)+2g(y),\;x,y{\in}A$$, where ${\sigma}$ is an involution of the Lie $C^*$-algebra A and k is a fixed positive integer. The Hyers-Ulam stability on unbounded domains is also studied. Applications of the results for the asymptotic behavior of the generalized quadratic functional equation are provided.

OBJECTIVES: Hypertension (HTN) is an important risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Considering the importance of this disease for public health, this study was designed in order to determine the prevalence, awareness, treatment, control, and risk factors of HTN in the Iranian adult population. METHODS: This cross-sectional study was conducted among 2,107 residents of Isfahan, Iran. Samples were selected through multi-stage random cluster sampling in 2015-2016. The outcome variable was HTN, determined by measuring blood pressure in the right arm via a digital arm blood pressure monitor. Awareness, treatment, and control of HTN were assessed by a validated and reliable researcher-developed questionnaire. Other demographic and clinical variables were assessed via a demographic questionnaire. RESULTS: The overall prevalence of HTN was 17.3% (18.9 and 15.5% in men and women, respectively). The prevalence of HTN increased in both genders with age. The prevalence of awareness of HTN among people with HTN was 69.2%, of whom 92.4 and 59.9% were taking medication for HTN and had controlled HTN, respectively. Logistic regression identified age, body mass index, having diabetes and hyperlipidemia, and a positive family history of HTN as determinants of awareness of HTN. CONCLUSIONS: The results showed that HTN was highly prevalent in the community, especially in men and in middle-aged and older adults. Approximately 30.8% of patients were unaware of their disease, and there was less awareness among younger adults. Despite the high frequency of taking medication to treat HTN, it was uncontrolled in more than 40.1% of patients. Health policy-makers should therefore consider appropriate preventive and therapeutic strategies for these high-risk groups.

The present work investigates the microstructural and mechanical properties of commercial purity titaniumafter processing by a two-step severe plastic deformation procedure entailing warm equal channel angularpressing (ECAP) followed by cold rolling at liquid nitrogen temperature (LNT). The effect of subsequent coldrolling at room temperature is also investigated for comparison. After 10 passes of ECAP, an ultrafine-grainedstructure with average grain size of 213 nm was achieved. Subsequent cold rolling at LNT led to further refinementand decreased the grain size to 114 nm. Under these conditions, the material displayed high tensilestrength of 995 MPa and high elongation to failure of 23%. These promising mechanical properties were interpretedin terms of characteristics of the microstructure: grain refinement, increased dislocation density, and ahigh fraction of high angle grain boundaries.

Dynamic recrystallization behavior of AISI 321 austenitic stainless steel were studied using hot compressiontests over the range of temperatures from 900 °C to 1200 °C and strain rates from 0.001 s-1to 1 s-1. The criticalstrain and stress for initiation of dynamic recrystallization were determined by plotting strain hardening ratevs. stress curves and a constitutive equation describing the flow stress at strains lower than peak strain. Also, thestrain at maximum flow softening was obtained and the effect of deformation conditions (Z parameter) on thecritical strain and stress were analyzed. Finally, the volume fraction of dynamic recrystallization was calculated atdifferent deformation conditions using these critical values. Results showed that the model used for predictingthe kinetics of dynamic recrystallization has a great consistency with the data, in the form of θ-ε curves,directly acquired from experimental flow curves.

Ti-Al multi-laminated composites have great potential in high strength and low weight structures. In the present study, tri-layer Ti-Al composite was synthesized by hot press bonding under 40 MPa at 570 °C for 1 h and subsequent hot roll bonding at about 450 °C. This process was conducted in two accumulative passes to 30% and to 67% thickness reduction in initial and final passes, respectively. Then, the final annealing treatments were done at 550, 600, 650, 700 and 750 °C for 2, 4 and 6 h. Investigations on microstructural evolution and thickening of interfacial layers were performed by scanning electron microscopes, energy dispersive spectrometer, X-ray diffraction and micro-hardness tests. The results showed that the thickening of diffusion layers corresponds to amount of deformation. In addition to thickening of the diffusion layers, the thickness of aluminum layers decreased and after annealing treatment at 750 °С for 6 h the aluminum layers were consumed entirely, which occurred because of the enhanced interdiffusion of Ti and Al elements. Scanning electron microscope equipped with energy dispersive spectrometer showed that the sequence of interfacial layers as Ti3Al-TiAl-TiAl2-TiAl3 which are believed to be the result of thermodynamic and kinetic of phase formation. Micro-hardness results presented the variation profile in accordance with the sequence of intermetallic phases and their different structures.
