Novel chitosan nanoparticles (SCN) were synthesized via reaction of chitosan with different concentration of 2-chloro-N-(3-methylisoxazol-5-yl) acetamide (5 %, 10 % and 15 %) at 70-80 oC for 7 h to give the grafted polymer, whichcondensed with cyclohexanone Mannich base 45 oC for 7 h to afford the corresponding (SCN). These were stirred withDeflazacort drug to achieve the Deflazacort loading (SCN), which, compressed with calcium starch glycolate (CaSgly) togive the corresponding tablets. The pH 2. 1 and concentration of SCN-10 %/CaSgly (1:4) was found to be importantparameters in controlling the release profiles.

In this paper we study the behavior of the difference equation xn+1 = axnxn−2/bxn−2 + cxn−3, n = 0, 1, ..., where the initial conditions x−3, x−2, x−1, x0 are arbitrary positive real numbers and a, b, c, are positive constants. Also, we give the solution of some special cases of this equation. At the end we present some numerical examples to support our theoretical discussion

Offshore platforms in seismically active areas must be designed to survive in the face of intense earthquakes without a global structural collapse. This paper scrutinizes the seismic performance of a newly designed and established jacket type offshore platform situated in the entrance of the Gulf of Suez region based on the API-RP2A normalized response spectra during seismic events. A nonlinear finite element model of a typical jacket type offshore platform is constructed taking into consideration the effect of structure-soil-interaction. Soil properties at the site were manipulated to generate the pile lateral soil properties in the form of load deflection curves, based on API-RP2A recommendations. Dynamic characteristics of the offshore platform, the response function, output power spectral density and transfer functions for different elements of the platform are discussed. The joints deflection and acceleration responses demands are presented. It is generally concluded that consideration of the interaction between structure, piles and soil leads to higher deflections and less stresses in platform elements due to soil elasticity, nonlinearity, and damping and leads to a more realistic platform design. The earthquake-based analysis for offshore platform structure is essential for the safe design and operation of offshore platforms.

Although BPSCCO superconducting regime has very low stability under high oxygen pressures as reported in the literature, we managed to synthesize relatively pure 2212-BPSCCO and their Nb-doped samples having general formula Bi1-xNbxPbSr2CaCu2O8, where x = 0.1, 0.2, 0.4 and 0.6 mole, respectively, at moderate oxygen pressure (~30 bar). The superconducting measurements proved that the best recorded Tc ~ 69 K was for the undoped 2212-BPSCCO, while the lowest Tc ~ 58 K was recorded for the maximum doped sample x = 0.6 mole indicating that superconductive transition temperatures Tcs decrease regularly with increasing Nb-dopant concentration from x = 0.1 to 0.6, respectively. The lattice parameter c exhibited a slight length compression as Nb-dopant ratio increases from 0.1 to 0.6 mole, respectively. From SE-microscopic analysis, the average grain size was estimated and found in between 0.44 and 1.6 lm which is considered relatively high to that reported in the literature. The measured Jc’s values were found to be enhanced remarkably as Nb-dopant concentration increases. Yarrow oil ameliorates ulcerative colitis in mice model via regulating the NF-κB and PPAR-γ pathways

Background/Aims: Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic inflammatory disorder with indefinite etiology; however, environmen-tal, genetic, immune factors and microbial agents could be implicated in its pathogenesis. UC treatment is lifelong, therefore; the potential side effects and cost of the therapy are significant. Yarrow is a promising medicinal plant with the ability to treat many disorders, owing to its bioactive compounds especially the essential oil. The main aim of this research was to investigate the therapeutic effect of the yarrow oil on colitis including the involved mechanism of action. Methods: In 21-female C57BL/6 mice were divided into 3 groups; control group, colitis model group, and oil-treated group. Groups 2 and 3 received 5% dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) in drinking water for 9 days, and concomitantly, only group 3 was given 100 mg/kg yarrow oil. Mice were examined for their body weight, stool consistency and bleeding, and the disease activity indexes were calculated. Results: Oral administration of yarrow oil markedly repressed the severity of UC via the reduction of the inflammatory signs and restoring colon length. The oil was able to down-regulate nuclear factor kappa light chain enhancer of activated B cells (NF-κB), up-regulate peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPAR-γ), and enhance transforming growth factor-β expression. The oil normalized the tumor necrosis factor-α expression, restored the normal serum level of interleukin-10 (IL-10) and reduced the serum level of IL-6. Conclusions: Yarrow oil mitigated UC symptoms and regulated the inflammatory cytokines secretion via regulation of NF-κB and PPAR-γ pathways in the mice model, however, this recommendation requires further investigations using clinical studies to confirm the use of the oil on humans. Global behaviour and periodicities of some fractional recursive sequences

In this paper, we obtain the expression and form of the solutions of the following recursive sequences xn+1 = xn−2xn−7 / xn−4(±1 ± xn−2xn−7) , n = 0, 1, ..., where the initial conditions x−7, x−6, x−5, x−4, x−3, x−2, x−1, x0 are arbitrary positive real numbers. We studied the equilibrium points of the given equation. Some qualitative properties such as the global stability, and the periodic character of the solutions in each case have been studied. We found expression and form of solution and presented some numerical examples by using random initial values in each case. Some figures have been given to explain the behavior of the obtained solutions by using MATLAB 6.5 to confirm the obtained results.
