Discovering Redo-Activities and Performers’ Involvements from XES-Formatted Workflow Process Enactment Event Logs

( Dinh-lam Pham ),( Hyun Ahn ),( Kwanghoon Pio Kim ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2019 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.13 No.8

Workflow process mining is becoming a more and more valuable activity in workflow-supported enterprises, and through which it is possible to achieve the high levels of qualitative business goals in terms of improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the workflow-supported information systems, increasing their operational performances, reducing their completion times with minimizing redundancy times, and saving their managerial costs. One of the critical challenges in the workflow process mining activity is to devise a reasonable approach to discover and recognize the bottleneck points of workflow process models from their enactment event histories. We have intuitively realized the fact that the iterative process pattern of redo-activities ought to have the high possibility of becoming a bottleneck point of a workflow process model. Hence, we, in this paper, propose an algorithmic approach and its implementation to discover the redo-activities and their performers’ involvements patterns from workflow process enactment event logs. Additionally, we carry out a series of experimental analyses by applying the implemented algorithm to four datasets of workflow process enactment event logs released from the BPI Challenges. Finally, those discovered redo-activities and their performers’ involvements patterns are visualized in a graphical form of information control nets as well as a tabular form of the involvement percentages, respectively.

Discovering Temporal Work Transference Networks from Workflow Execution Logs

        Dinh-Lam Pham,안현,김광훈 한국인터넷정보학회 2019 인터넷정보학회논문지 Vol.20 No.2

Workflow management systems (WfMSs) automate and manage workflows, which are implementations of organizational processes operated in process-centric organizations. In this paper, wepropose an algorithm to discover temporal work transference networks from workflow execution logs. The temporal work transference network is a special type of enterprise social networks that consists of workflow performers, and relationships among them that are formed by work transferences between performers who are responsible in performing precedent and succeeding activities in a workflow process. In terms of analysis, the temporal work transference network is an analytical property that has significant value to be analyzed to discover organizational knowledge for human resource management and related decision-making steps for process-centric organizations. Also, the beginning point of implementinga human-centered workflow intelligence framework dealing with work transference networks is to develop an algorithm for discovering temporal work transference cases on workflow execution logs. To this end, we first formalize a concept of temporal work transference network, and next, we present a discovery algorithm which is for the construction of temporal work transference network from workflow execution logs. Then, as a verification of the proposed algorithm, we apply the algorithm to an XES-formatted log dataset that was released by the process mining research group and finally summarize the discovery result.

Dual-band isotropic metamaterial absorber based on near-field interaction in the Ku band

        The Linh Pham,Hong Tiep Dinh,Dinh Hai Le,Xuan Khuyen Bui,Son Tung Bui,Hong Luu Dang,Anh Duc Phan,Dac Tuyen Le,Dinh-Lam Vu 한국물리학회 2020 Current Applied Physics Vol.20 No.2

We numerically and experimentally investigate single-band and dual-band isotropic metamaterial absorbers (IMAs) based on metallic disks. By optimizing the diameter of the metallic disks and the thickness of the dielectric substrate, the single-band IMA is observed at 16.2 GHz with absorptivity of 97%. When adding one diskpair to the structure, the dual-band IMA is obtained at 12.8 and 15.5 GHz due to the symmetry breaking. The physical mechanics is explained by near-field coupling effect and equivalent LC circuit model. The measurement results performed in the range 12–18 GHz show a good agreement with simulation and theoretical analysis. Our findings demonstrate a new approach to achieve dual-band and multi-band IMAs.

      • Perceived Risk of Sharing Other People’s Information on Facebook: The Perspective of Young People in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Dinh Tien Minh,Tran Ngoc Thuy,Ngo Nguyen Gia Nghi,Nguyen Yen Vy,Nguyen Thi Thanh Lam,Pham Cong Minh KINFORMS 2021 Management Review Vol.16 No.2

In Vietnam, young people are gradually becoming the most accessible objects to social networks. With the development of technology, they usually use online social networks (ONS) as a tool to update information through multimedia content, which may contain other people s information. In different cases, other people s information will be shared and received for different purposes. Therefore, the risk is inevitable and may affect the privacy of individuals whose information is shared, causing turbulence in the community. This study aims to measure impact and find out the factors that influence the willingness of others to share information on social networks in Ho Chi Minh City by examining young people s perceptions that their activities on Facebook may be risky for other people s information. Besides that, the study proposes solutions to avoid possible risks when sharing information with others.

Toward Post-Pandemic Sustainable FDI Workforce: An Examination of Factors Affecting the Well-Being of Migrant Workers in Ho Chi Minh City

( Pham Thanh Thoi ),( Tran Dinh Lam ),( Nguyen Hong Truc ) 부산외국어대학교 아세안연구원 2024 Suvannabhumi Vol.16 No.1

Globalization and the flow of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the post-pandemic context continue to play a critical role in shaping the workforce of emerging countries. In Vietnam, evidence obtained during the pandemic revealed that the well-being of employees, especially migrant workers, was extremely poor due to both work and non-work factors. This paper examines the most significant factors that impact the well-being of workers employed by various FDI companies in two Vietnamese industrial parks. The survey evidence (n=200) shows that worker well-being is influenced by seven key factors categorized in three dimensions, namely material stressors, social stressors, and human stressors. A further qualitative analysis of 60 participants provides an understanding of the ways in which each factor affects workers’ well-being and how elements of well-being in the Vietnamese context are different compared with other countries. Low salaries, lack of social support, work-life imbalance due to job demands, and the interplay between these three determinants significantly affect the overall well-being of workers. In the current business climate, it is important to have well-targeted policies that encourage high-tech investments as well as persuade domestic firms to address low salaries and economic migration. To manage valuable human resources and keep competitive advantages, foreign firms need to authentically implement corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives focusing on workers’ benefits, especially providing workforce housing. This will bring about win-win outcomes of improved employee well-being and business sustainability.

      • Access to Anti-smoking Information among School Children and its Potential Impact on Preventing Smoking Initiation: Results from the Global Youth Tobacco Use Survey (GYTS) 2014 in Viet Nam

Hoang, Van Minh,Kim, Bao Giang,Phan, Thi Hai,Trinh, Dinh Hoang,Doan, Thu Huyen,Luong, Ngoc Khue,Nguyen, Thuy Linh,Nguyen, Tuan Lam,Pham, Thi Quynh Nga Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2016 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.17 No.no.sup1

Scientific evidence on all aspects of smoking amongst youth is very important for designing appropriate interventions to reduce smoking among this vulnerable population. This paper describes current access to anti-smoking information among school children aged 13 to 15 years in Vietnam in 2014 and examines its potential impact on preventing smoking initiation. The data used in this paper were obtained from the 2014 Global Youth Tobacco Survey (GYTS) in Vietnam. Students were asked questions about their level of awareness of anti-smoking information from various sources in the past 30 days and about lessons in school regarding the dangers of tobacco use during the last 12 months. Those who have never smoked were asked "whether or not they thought about avoiding cigarettes because of health warnings on cigarette packages" and answers were analyzed in combination with data on access to anti-smoking information from other sources. The prevalence of exposure to antismoking campaigns was high among school children in Viet Nam: 55.3% of current smokers reported thoughts of smoking cessation because of health warnings on cigarette packages; 60.5% of never smokers avoided initiating smoking because of the same health warnings. The potential impact of graphic health warnings to prevent school-aged children from smoking initiation would be stronger if there was concurrent access to anti-smoking programs on the dangers of tobacco use in schools. However, school education for tobacco prevention and control has not been as strong as expected. A more comprehensive school curriculum on tobacco prevention and control is recommended to reinforce antismoking messages among school children.
