This study examined effects of pronunciation training using automatic speech recognition technology on common pronunciation errors of Korean English learners. Participants were divided into two groups. One group was given instruction and training about the use of automatic speech recognition for pronunciation practice. The other group was not given such instruction or training as a control group. A pre- and post-test experimental design was used. The treatment period was four weeks. Participants who were taught about using automatic speech recognition for pronunciation practice showed small but significant improvements in pronunciation accuracy than those who did not. In addition, automatic speech recognition was found to assist in the diagnostic evaluation of common pronunciation errors, although it did not produce statistically significant improvements. Participants responded positively to the use of automatic speech recognition for pronunciation practice and testing, although there remain some concerns over technical aspects of the test.
KK graviton resonance and cascade decays in warped gravity

<P>We consider the Kaluza-Klein (KK) graviton and its decays in the presence of the light radion, the modulus of extra dimension, appearing naturally light due to classical scale invariance in warped gravity. Due to the presence of a sizable wave function overlap in the extra dimension between the KK graviton and the radion, the KK graviton can decay largely into a pair of radions, each of which decays into a pair of collimated photons or photon-jets. Focusing on the setup where the KK graviton has suppressed couplings to the Higgs boson and fermions, we discuss the bounds on the light radion in the parameter space where the photon-jets are relevant. Moreover, we pursue the possibility of distinguishing the scenario from the case with direct photon contributions by the angular distributions of photons in the LHC Run 2. Roles of KK graviton and radion as mediators of dark matter interactions, extensions with brane kinetic terms and the model with a holographic composite Higgs are also addressed.</P>
Student Perceptions of Mobile Automated Speech Recognition for Pronunciation Study and Testing

This study utilized Automated Speech Recognition technology to determine the potential utility and acceptance of such technology in the English as a Foreign Language classroom. Learners were made aware of the Automatic Speech Recognition potential of their mobile devices and provided with some direction in, and incentive for, its use. Participants were then scored on their assessment of the technology according to the Technology Acceptance Model. Participants showed a marked appreciation for the ease and utility of the technology with over 72% agreeing that the technology was both accessible and useful. Support for the use of Automatic Speech Recognition as a testing method was somewhat mixed, with 75% of participants agreeing that the testing was fair, but only 60% reporting that they felt they did well on the test. As a secondary point of interest, this study examined the potential use of Automatic Speech Recognition technology for teaching and testing pronunciation.
Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion YouTube Videos as a Source of Patient Education

Study Design: Cross sectional study. Purpose: To assess the quality of anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) videos available on YouTube and identify factors associated with video quality. Overview of Literature: Patients commonly use the internet as a source of information regarding their surgeries. However, there is currently limited information regarding the quality of online videos about ACDF. Methods: A search was performed on YouTube using the phrase ‘anterior cervical discectomy and fusion.’ The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), DISCERN, and Health on the Net (HON) systems were used to rate the first 50 videos obtained. Information about each video was collected, including number of views, duration since the video was posted, percentage positivity (defined as number of likes the video received, divided by the total number of likes or dislikes of that video), number of comments, and the author of the video. Relationships between video quality and these factors were investigated. Results: The average number of views for each video was 96,239. The most common videos were those published by surgeons and those containing patient testimonies. Overall, the video quality was poor, with mean scores of 1.78/5 using the DISCERN criteria, 1.63/4 using the JAMA criteria, and 1.96/8 using the HON criteria. Surgeon authors’ videos scored higher than patient testimony videos when reviewed using the HON or JAMA systems. However, no other factors were found to be associated with video quality. Conclusions: The quality of ACDF videos on YouTube is low, with the majority of videos produced by unreliable sources. Therefore, these YouTube videos should not be recommended as patient education tools for ACDF.

Purpose: Technology and innovation drive new mobile application for ojek online. Using the theory of technology acceptance model and perceived risk theory, the researcher wants to find how these factors affect user’s intention to use GO-FOOD that leads to technology adoption. Research design, data and methodology: The researcher uses GO-FOOD users that located in East Java, Indonesia for the object of study. Results: The findings of the research discovered that perceive usefulness and perceive ease of use do not significantly affect user’s behavioral intention while perceive risk is significantly affecting the user’s behavioral intention. Conclusions: The findings suggested that GO-FOOD or similar application should focus more on reducing or eliminating user’s perception of risk towards the mobile application
Non-invasive estimation of relative pressure in turbulent flow using virtual work-energy

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Vascular pressure differences are established risk markers for a number of cardiovascular diseases. Relative pressures are, however, often driven by turbulence-induced flow fluctuations, where conventional non-invasive methods may yield inaccurate results. Recently, we proposed a novel method for non-turbulent flows, <I>ν</I>WERP, utilizing the concept of virtual work-energy to accurately probe relative pressure through complex branching vasculature. Here, we present an extension of this approach for turbulent flows: <I>ν</I>WERP-t. We present a theoretical method derivation based on flow covariance, quantifying the impact of flow fluctuations on relative pressure. <I>ν</I>WERP-t is tested on a set of <I>in-vitro</I> stenotic flow phantoms with data acquired by 4D flow MRI with six-directional flow encoding, as well as on a patient-specific <I>in-silico</I> model of an acute aortic dissection. Over all tests <I>ν</I>WERP-t shows improved accuracy over alternative energy-based approaches, with excellent recovery of estimated relative pressures. In particular, the use of a guaranteed divergence-free virtual field improves accuracy in cases where turbulent flows skew the apparent divergence of the acquired field. With the original <I>ν</I>WERP allowing for assessment of relative pressure into previously inaccessible vasculatures, the extended <I>ν</I>WERP-t further enlarges the method's clinical scope, underlining its potential as a novel tool for assessing relative pressure <I>in-vivo</I>.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> vWERP-t uses virtual work-energy to accurately assess turbulent relative pressure. </LI> <LI> In-vitro, vWERP-t shows 1:1 agreement with invasive measurements of relative pressure. </LI> <LI> In transient flow, vWERP-t shows significant improvement compared to other approaches. </LI> <LI> vWERP-t guarantees divergence free flow even in turbulent fields, improving accuracy. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>
