On-line communities on the Internet are highly self-organizing, dynamic and ubiquitous. The prime interest of peers in this community is often sharing common interest, even when compromising privacy. This paper presents a peer coordination strategy and a data sharing process for peers on the Internet which allows them to discover their common interest in terms of sets of frequently visited URLs. To this end, an algorithm was developed that allows the user to collect URLs of common interest from peers who are currently visiting the same URLs as the user. Using the algorithm, sample data was collected by randomly following links on popular websites to simulate the algorithm in operation. Experiments were then performed to compare the number of discovered frequently visited URL sets and association rules with the overhead induced by our network. An extended discussion on the experiments performed is presented, by which the viability of the proposed model is demonstrated.

The space of periodic Boehmians with {convergence is acomplete topological algebra which is not locally convex. A family ofBoehmians fT g such that T0 is the identity and T 1 + 2 = T 1 T 2 forall real numbers 1 and 2 is called a one-parameter group of Boehmians.We show that if fT g is strongly continuous at zero, thenfT g has anexponential representation. We also obtain some results concerning theinnitesimal generator for fT g.

Neuronal stimulation improves physiological responses to infection and trauma, but the clinical potential of this strategy is unknown. We hypothesized that transdermal neural stimulation through low-frequency electroacupuncture might control the immune responses to surgical trauma and expedite the postoperative recovery. However, the efficiency of electroacupuncture is questioned due to the placebo effect. Here, electroacupuncture was performed on anesthetized patients to avoid any placebo. This is a prospective double-blinded pilot trial to determine whether intraoperative electroacupuncture on anesthetized patients improves postoperative recovery. Patients with electroacupuncture required 60% less postoperative analgesic, even they had pain scores similar to those in the control patients. Electroacupuncture prevented postoperative hyperglycemia and attenuated serum adrenocorticotropic hormone in the older and heavier group of patients. From an immunological perspective, electroacupuncture did not affect the protective immune responses to surgical trauma, including the induction of interleukin-6 and interleukin-10. The most significant immunological effect of electroacupuncture was enhancing transforming growth factor-β1 production during surgery in the older and lighter group of patients. These results suggest that intraoperative electroacupuncture on anesthetized patients can reduce postoperative use of analgesics and improve immune and stress responses to surgery.
On Teaching Large Classes of Spoken English

과밀학급수업은 교사의 능력에 부담을 준다. 이는 40명 이상이 되는 학급에 특히 영어회화와 관련된 수업에 더욱 명백하다. 수업에 참여하는 학생이 많으면 많을수록 래포(rapport)와 수업의 집중력은 떨어지게 마련이다. 개개인의 연습과 교정을 도와주는 데 할애되는 시간은 감소하게 되며 수업의 혼란스러움이 극도로 증가할 것이다. 이 글은 한국의 대학에서 대단위학급의 구어영어 학습효과를 극대화시키는 방법을 고찰함에 있다. 구어영어의 교수법에 대하여 수 년에 결쳐 몇 가지의 방법이 개발돼 왔다. 이 글에서 단일교수이론을 찬성하지 않는다. 몇 개의 교수법이 다른 상황하에서 제 효과를 각각 잘 발휘한다. 그러나, 이 글에서 학습은 개인의 능력을 확장시키고 의미, 진리, 개인의 모든 일에 대한 관심을 찾기 위하여 자기학습을 추구하여야 한다는 견해를 강조한다. 이런 관점에서 영어교사의 가장 효과적인 공헌은 단순히 주어진 사실과 방법을 제공하는 것보다 학습에 도움이 되는 영어에 관한 환경을 제공하는 것이다. 구어영어를 강의하는 과밀학급에 있어서, 교사는 학급의 환경에서 가장 잘 작용하는 여러가지의 방법을 가지고 수업에 임해야 한다. 사실, 일주일에 두, 세변의 수업으로는 영어를 모국어로 하지 않은 학생을 유창한 화자로 만들 수 없다. 교사가 지향해아 할 것은 유용한 시간과 시설내에서 각각의 학습자가 유창한 실력을 성취하도록 하는 것이다. 유창한 화자가 되는 장기적인 목표는 궁극적인 각각의 학습자로 하여금 그들이 수업과 별도로 스스로 노력하여 자립능력개발법에 익숙하게 하는 것이다.

This contribution presents the concept and implementation of a novel architecture for Cognitive Technical Systems, which is methodically based on Situation-Operator-Modeling realizing the representation of the real world’s structure in a unique and homogeneous manner. It is realized by high-level Petri Nets and a related software tool providing graphical modeling and simulation. As a special feature, several instances of the cognitive architecture can be combined to reduce the complexity of the real world by a problem-oriented encapsulation of different action spaces. Finally, an example focusing the interaction of an agent in a dynamic environment is given.
The Impact of Extensive Reading on Pre-service Teachers’ Attitudes toward Reading

The present research explored the use of extensive reading(ER) with pre-service Korean English teachers to determine its viability for cultivating more positive attitudes toward English language reading. Pre and post ER intervention surveys were administered to establish whether one semester of extensive reading can impact participants’ attitudes toward L2 reading. Results revealed that having pre-service teachers engage in ER results in higher levels of comfort with English reading, but there was minimal effect on anxiety and intellectual value. They viewed reading as having less practical value after the intervention as well. Participants also believed that ER changed their views about reading in English and most felt ER improved their English reading to some extent. Findings point to the potential value of engaging in ER during pre-service teacher education courses to improve pre-service teachers’ L2 reading attitudes and counteract the previous negative L2 reading experiences that many have had.
