        Accuracy of Ultrasound-Guided and Non-guided Botulinum Toxin Injection Into Neck Muscles Involved in Cervical Dystonia: A Cadaveric Study

        Objective To compare the accuracy of ultrasound-guided and non-guided botulinum toxin injections into the neck muscles involved in cervical dystonia. Methods Two physicians examined six muscles (sternocleidomastoid, upper trapezius, levator scapulae, splenius capitis, scalenus anterior, and scalenus medius) from six fresh cadavers. Each physician injected ultrasound-guided and non-guided injections to each side of the cadaver’s neck muscles, respectively. Each physician then dissected the other physician’s injected muscle to identify the injection results. For each injection technique, different colored dyes were used. Dissection was performed to identify the results of the injections. The muscles were divided into two groups based on the difficulty of access: sternocleidomastoid and upper trapezius muscles (group A) and the levator scapulae, splenius capitis, scalenus anterior, and scalenus medius muscles (group B). Results The ultrasound-guided and non-guided injection accuracies of the group B muscles were 95.8% and 54.2%, respectively (p<0.001), while the ultrasound-guided and non-guided injection accuracies of the group A muscles were 100% and 79.2%, respectively (p<0.05). Conclusion Ultrasound-guided botulinum toxin injections into inaccessible neck muscles provide a higher degree of accuracy than non-guided injections. It may also be desirable to consider performing ultrasound-guided injections into accessible neck muscles.

      • Effects of Equine-Assisted Learning on Firefighters’ Psychological Stress Reduction: A Preliminary Study

        This study investigated changes in psychological stress levels of 60 firefighters after participation in an eight-week Equine-Assisted Learning (EAL) program consisting of 16 sessions. The Korean versions of the Posttraumatic Diagnosis Scale (PDS-K), the Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale (K-CESD), and the Difficulties in Emotional Regulation Scale (K-DERS) were used for measurements. Participants were divided into two groups according to level of posttraumatic stress symptoms (PTSS): the PTSS risk group and the PTSS non-risk group. Results showed that PDS-K, K-CESD, and K-DERS scores were significantly reduced after the program in the PTSS risk group. Significant reduction was also found in all sub-scales of PDS-K: re-experiencing, avoidance/emotional numbing, and hyperarousal. Moreover, in the PTSS risk group, there were greater improvements with significant group x time interactions. These findings suggest that EAL is effective in relieving PTSD and PTSD-related symptoms of firefighters with subsyndromal or more severe levels of PTSD.

      • Transparent Urethane-Siloxane Hybrid Materials for Flexible Cover Windows with Ceramic-Like Strength, yet Polymer-Like Modulus

        <P>Any transition toward an era of flexible electronics will have to overcome the mechanical limitations of materials. Specifically, the attainment of both strength and flexibility, which are generally mutually exclusive, is required including glass-like wear resistance, plastic-like compliance, and a high level of strain. Here, we fabricate a urethane-methacrylate-siloxane hybrid (UMSH) material. It is found that UMSH, with molecule-level hybridization of urethane linkage and methacrylate-siloxane conetworks, demonstrates ceramic-like high strength (574 MPa), yet polymer-like low modulus (8.42 GPa), and even high strain (6.3%) at fracture with excellent optical transparency. This combination of high strength, flexibility, and optical transparency indicates that this is a suitable material for glass substitution and can be used as a transparent flexible cover window for foldable display.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>

        캥거루족 가구의 소비패턴 유형화와 가구주의 삶의 만족도에 관한 연구

        최근 한국 사회에서 부모에게 주거적·경제적으로 의존하는 캥거루족이 꾸준히 증가하고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 캥거루족을 새로운 가족 형태로 바라보고, 선행연구에서 서로 상반되는 시각으로 다루어지는 캥거루족 가구의 이면을 다각도로 살펴보고자 연구를 진행했다. 구체적으로 본 연구에서는 캥거루족 가구만의 특성을 파악하고, 이들을 소비패턴에 따라 유형화하여 그 이면을 자세히 들여다보고, 캥거루족 가구주의 삶의 만족도와 그 영향요인을 알아보았다. 이를 위해 21차년도 한국노동패널조사 자료를 활용하여 총 507개의 캥거루족 가구를 연구대상으로 삼아 분석을 진행하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 캥거루족 가구는 비캥거루족가구에 비해 총자산, 총부채, 총소득, 월평균 지출액이 모두 유의하게 더 많은 것으로 나타났으며, 비캥거루족에 비해 피복비, 교통비, 통신비 등 선택재의 지출비중이 유의하게 높은 것으로 확인되었다. 둘째, 캥거루족 가구를 소비패턴에 따라 유형화한 결과, 자녀용돈비중심형, 식비주거비중심형, 교육비중심형, 보건의료비중심형으로 분류되었으며, 각 유형들은 가구의 사회인구적·경제적 특성에서 유의한 차이를 보였다. 셋째, 캥거루족 가구의 유형별 가구주 삶의 만족도의 차이를 살펴본 결과, 자녀용돈비 중심형은 전반적으로 높은 만족도를 보인 반면, 보건의료비 중심형은 전반적으로 낮은 만족도를 보였다. 식비주거비 중심형은 주거환경 만족도가 낮은 반면, 교육비 중심형은 가족관계 만족도가 높았다. 마지막으로 캥거루족 가구주의 삶의 만족도 영향요인을 살펴본 결과, 각 하위 만족도별 영향요인에는 차이가 있음을 확인하였다. 특히 캥거루족 소비패턴 유형은 가구주의 주거환경만족도와 가족관계 만족도에 부분적으로 유의한 영향을 미쳤으며, 수입만족도나 여가활동 만족도에는 영향을 미치지 않았다. 본 연구는 캥거루족 가구를 소비패턴 및 가구주의 삶의 만족도 등을 다각도로 살펴봄으로써 같은 캥거루족 가구라 할지라도 그 가구의 일반적·경제적 특성에 따라 매우 다른 삶의 질을 보일 수 있음을 밝혔다. 궁극적으로 본 연구는 캥거루족 가구의 ‘다양성’에 대한 논의를 제공하는 데 기여할 것으로 기대된다. Recently, in Korean society, the number of kangaroos tribe who depend on their parents for housing and finances has been steadily increasing. Therefore, this study was conducted to look at the Kangaroos households as a new family form and to examine the backside of kangaroo households from various angles, which are dealt with from opposite perspectives in previous studies. Specifically, this study identified the characteristics of kangaroo households only, categorized them according to consumption patterns, looked closely behind them, and investigated the life satisfaction and influencing factors of kangaroo householders. To this end, a total of 507 kangaroo households were analyzed using data from the 21st year Korea Labor Panel Survey. The results of this study are as follows. First, kangaroo households showed significantly higher total assets, total debt, gross income, and monthly average expenditures than non-kangaroo households, and the proportion of optional materials such as transportation, and communication expenses was significantly higher than that of non-Kangaroo. Second, as a result of categorizing kangaroo households according to consumption patterns, they were classified into children s allowance centered, food-residential centered, education centered, and health care centered, and each type showed significant differences in the socio-demographic and economic characteristics of households. Third, as a result of examining the difference in the life satisfaction of the head of household by type of kangaroo households, the children s allowance centered type showed high satisfaction overall, while the health care centered type showed low satisfaction overall. Finally, as a result of examining the factors affecting the life satisfaction of the head of a kangaroo family, it was confirmed that there were differences in the factors affecting each sub- satisfaction level. In particular, the consumption pattern type of the kangaroo tribe had a partially significant effect on the householder s satisfaction with the residential environment and family relationship, but had no effect on income satisfaction or leisure activity satisfaction. This study revealed that kangaroo households can show very different quality of life depending on the general and economic characteristics of the household by examining consumption patterns and life satisfaction of the householder from various angles. Ultimately, this study is expected to contribute to providing a discussion on the ‘diversity’ of kangaroo households.

      • ENT1-mediated AMPK Regulation of Cordyceps militaris on Cell Death in Human Ovarian Cancer

        Cordyceps militaris extract (CME) has been shown to have anti-cancer effects in various cancer cells, however, the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. CME is enriched for adenosine derivatives including cordycepin. Here, we hypothesized that the adenosine derivatives from CME regulated AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) signaling pathway to induce autophagic cell death in ovarian cancer. As results from CRE-based luciferase assay, CME treatment increased cAMP signaling, indicating that its adenosine derivatives exerted as adenosine analogues. CME treatment effectively induced cell death, but the effect on viability was reversed by Equilibrative Nucleoside Transporter protein 1 (ENT1) inhibitor, not by ADORA inhibitors, suggesting that the cell death induction required adenosine derivatives to be transported to the cytosol via ENT1. As a downstream of AMPK signaling, the autophagic cell death was observed with enhanced production of the autophagic vacuoles and LC3II. In conclusion, the data demonstrated that ENT1-mediated transport of adenosine derivative phytochemicals induced autophagic cell death in ovarian cancer cells by regulating AMPK signaling pathway.

      • Rhodamine spirolactam sensors operated by sulfur-cooperated metal complexation

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>New rhodamine Schiff base sensors were developed to improve selective sensing by introducing sulfide, ester, and dithiocarbonate groups, as well as using ketones coupled to rhodamine-hydrazine. Metal sensing proceeded through the 1:1 complexation of the metal ion for most sensors in the presence of Cu<SUP>2+</SUP> and Hg<SUP>2+</SUP>. A sensor carrying a dithiocarbonate group responded selectively to Hg<SUP>2+</SUP> showing a strong colorimetric change and intense fluorescence. The association constants of the sensors were determined from a linear plot performed at micro-molar concentrations to afford values in the range of 10<SUP>4</SUP>. Sensing was interrupted at the initial time of Hg<SUP>2+</SUP> exposure due to the isomerization of imine and preferential metal bonding of two dithiocarbonate groups regardless of the main structure of rhodamine.         AI를 이용한 인구주택총조사의 자동 분류 개선: 산업 및 직업코드 연구

        본 논문에서는 인구 조사에서 산업 및 직업 코드를 자동 분류하기 위한 인공지능 기반 시스템을 제안한다. 산업 및 직업 코드의 정확한 분류는 정책 결정, 자원 할당 및 연구를 위해 매우 중요하지만, 기존의 방식은 사람이 작성한 사례 사전에 의존하는 규칙 기반 방식으로 규칙 생성에 필요한 시간과 자원이 많이 소요되며 오류 발생 가능성이 높다. 우리는 본 논문에서 통계 기관에서 사용하는 기존의 규칙 기반 시스템을 대체하기 위해 사용자가 입력한 데이터를 이용하는 인공지능 기반시스템을 제안하였다. 이 논문에서는 여러 모델을 학습하고 평가하여 산업에서 86.76%의 일치율, 직업에서 81.84%의 일치율을 달성한 앙상블 모델을 개발하였다. 또한, 분류 확률 결과를 기반으로 프로세스 개선 작업도 제안하였다. 우리가 제안한 방법은 전이 학습 기술을 활용하여 사전 학습된 모델과 결합하는 앙상블 모델을 사용하였으며, 개별 모델과 비교하여 앙상블 모델의 성능이 더 높아짐을 보였다. 본 논문에서는 인공지능 기반 시스템이 인구 조사 데이터 분류의 정확성과 효율성을 향상시키는 잠재력을 보여주며, 인공지능으로 이러한 프로세스를 자동화함으로써 더 정확하고 일관된 결과를 달성하며 기관 직원의 작업 부담을 줄일 수 있다는 점을 보여준다. In this paper, we propose an AI-based system for automatically classifying industry and occupation codes in the population census. The accurate classification of industry and occupation codes is crucial for informing policy decisions, allocating resources, and conducting research. However, this task has traditionally been performed by human coders, which is time-consuming, resource-intensive, and prone to errors. Our system represents a significant improvement over the existing rule-based system used by the statistics agency, which relies on user-entered data for code classification. In this paper, we trained and evaluated several models, and developed an ensemble model that achieved an 86.76% match accuracy in industry and 81.84% in occupation, outperforming the best individual model. Additionally, we propose process improvement work based on the classification probability results of the model. Our proposed method utilizes an ensemble model that combines transfer learning techniques with pre-trained models. In this paper, we demonstrate the potential for AI-based systems to improve the accuracy and efficiency of population census data classification. By automating this process with AI, we can achieve more accurate and consistent results while reducing the workload on agency staff.
