An Exponential Smoothing Adaptive Failure Detector in the Dual Model of Heartbeat and Interaction
Zhiyong Yang,Chunlin Li,Yanpei Liu,Yunchang Liu,Lijun Xu 한국정보과학회 2014 Journal of Computing Science and Engineering Vol.8 No.1
In this paper, we propose a new implementation of a failure detector. The implementation uses a dual model of heartbeat and interaction. First, the heartbeat model is adopted to shorten the detection time, if the detection process does not receive the heartbeat message in the expected time. The interaction model is then used to check the process further. The expected time is calculated using the exponential smoothing method. Exponential smoothing can be used to estimate the next arrival time not only in the random data, but also in the data of linear trends. It is proven that the new detector in the paper can eventually be a perfect detector.

Objective: This study was to evaluate effects of mixed plant oils (identified as mixed oil 1 [MO1] and mixed oil 2 [MO2]) on performance, serum composition, viscera percentages, meat quality, and fatty acid deposition of broilers. Methods: A total of 126 one-day-old Arbor Acres male broiler chicks (weighing 44.91± 0.92 g) were randomly allocated to 1 of 3 treatments with 7 replicate pens per treatment (6 broilers per pen). Dietary treatments included a corn-soybean basal diet supplemented with 3% soybean oil (CTR), basal diet with 3% MO1 (a mixture of 15% corn oil, 10% coconut oil, 15% linseed oil, 20% palm oil, 15% peanut oil and 25% soybean oil; MO1), or basal diet with 3% MO2 (a combination of 50% MO1 and 50% extruded corn; MO2). The trial consisted of phase 1 (d 1 to 21) and phase 2 (d 22 to 42). Results: Compared to CTR, broilers fed MO (MO1 or MO2) had greater (p<0.05) average daily gain in phase 1, 2, and overall (d 1 to 42), redness in thigh muscle, concentrations of serum glucose, serum albumin, saturated fatty acids (SFA) and n-6/n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) ratio in breast muscle, while these broilers also showed lower (p≤0.05) drip loss and concentrations of C18:3n-3 and PUFA/SFA ratio in breast muscle. Broilers fed MO2 had higher (p<0.05) liver percentage, while broilers fed MO1 had lower (p≤0.05) feed conversion ratio in phase 1 and increased (p<0.05) contents of C18:2n-6, C20:5n-3, C22:6n-3, and n-3 PUFA in breast muscle compared to CTR. Conclusion: Mixed plant oils had positive effects on performance, serum parameters, meat quality, liver percentage and fatty acid deposition in broilers, which indicates they can be used as better dietary energy feedstocks than soybean oil alone.

Cloning and expression of a Chk1 gene in Daphnia pulex during different modes of reproduction
Xiaoge Guo,Shanliang Xu,Xuemei Yan,Wei Zhou,Xinyu Dai,Xiu Zou,Chunlin Wang,Danli Wang,Yunlong Zhao 한국유전학회 2015 Genes & Genomics Vol.37 No.9
The full-length cDNA of a Chk1 gene (DpChk1) was cloned from Daphnia pulex using RACE method. This cDNA is 1767 bp in length, consisting of a 1497 bp open reading frame encoding 498 amino acid protein. The deduced DpChk1 protein sequence contains phosphorylation sites, three conserved Ser-Gln and Thr- Gln motifs and shares 51–55 % similarity with A. pisum, M. rotundata, D. melanogaster, A. echinatior, B. terrestris, R. pulchellus and M. occidentalis, respectively. Gene expression analysis showed that Chk1 is differentially expressed in D. pulex during different reproductive modes. DpChk1 expression in sexually-reproducing females and males is significantly higher than in parthenogenetic Daphnia. Whole-mount in situ hybridization revealed that DpChk1 was expressed during two kinds of reproductive modes. In parthenogenetic females, hybridization signals were found in the antennae and thoracic limb, whereas expression levels in the corresponding sites of sexuallyreproducing females were relatively strong, DpChk1 could not be detected in the gonads of ephippial and parthenogenetic females. Taken together, these different reproductive stages and sex specific expression patterns are regulated temporally and spatially. We speculate that DpChk1 may be involved in conversion between different stages of reproduction and in sexual differentiation in D. pulex.
Facile, Efficient Liquid Exfoliated Cyanoethylated Cellulose Nanofibrils and Their Application
Weihua Zhang,Mingjie Li,Chunlin Xu,Chaoxu Li 한국고분자학회 2021 한국고분자학회 학술대회 연구논문 초록집 Vol.46 No.2
Traditionally, cellulose nanofibers are difficult to disperse in organic solvent and redisperse after drying, and thereby limit their practical applications. Herein, we develop a new, convenient, scalable and energy efficient method for producing cyanoethylated cellulose nanofibers. Through the synergy of mechanical and chemical reaction processes, the produced cyanoethylated cellulose nanofibers are ca. 3 nm wide and several hundred to 1000 nanometers long. Particularly, compared with common TEMPO oxidized cellulose nanofibrils, they show improved hydrophobicity and redispersibility in different organic solvent. In addition, these dispersed CCNFs also exhibit greater potential to construct high-performance structural materials, e.g., transparent ductile nanopapers with large elongation up to 18% and toughness as high as 16.5 MJ/m³.

For measles viruses, fusion on the cell membrane is an important initial step in the entry into the infected cells. The recent research indicated that hemagglutinin firstly leads the conformational changes in the fusion protein then co-mediates the membrane fusion. In the work, we use the co-immunoprecipitation and pull-down techniques to identify the interactions among fusion protein, hemagglutinin and signaling lymphocyte activation molecule (SLAM), which reveal that the three proteins can form a functional complex to mediate the SLAM-dependent fusion. Moreover, under the confocal microscope, fusion protein and hemagglutinin protein can show the cocapping mediated by the SLAM. So fusion protein not only is involved in the fusion but also might directly interact with the SLAM to be a new fusion-trimer model, which might account for the infection mechanism of measles virus.
