Vol.42 No.10
The texture and mechanical properties during fabrication processes - extrusion, cold rolling and aging treatment - of plate in the 7050 Al alloys without/with 0.1%Sc were investigated. In both the cross section(CS) and longitudinal section(LS) of the specimen without Sc, after cold rolling, texture of R-fiber was predominant. In the Sc added alloy after cold rolling, {112}<111>(Cu)+weak (123)<634>(S) texture components developed in the CS of the specimen while strong (3-fiber+(110)<001>(Goss) components developed in the LS of the specimen. After solution treatment and aging treatment, the alloy (CS and LS) without Sc had random texture, but by the alloys with the 0.1%Sc, the components of the rolling texture are not changed. After the aging treatment, hardness and tensile strength of the alloy with 0.1%Sc increased about 15% and 17%, respectively, than those without Sc. Tensile strength of the Sc added specimen was the highest along the rolling direction where the <111> texture was strongly developed. On the other hand, in the specimen without Sc, the mechanical properties were not dependent on the direction of the sample. (Received May 3, 2004)

We analysed 404 patients with primary lung carcinoma who were treated at Soonchunhyang University Hospital from July, 1985 to september, 1993 in order to investigate the survival rate and epidemiolgical properties of primary lung cancer. They were 330 males and 74 females. The most prevalent decade was seventh. In terms of cell type, the squamous cell was 225 patients (55%), and adenocarcinoma, small cell, mixed type was 21%, 19%, 4%, respectively. Among non-small cell lung carcinoma, stage Ⅲa was the most prevalent one(92%). In case of small cell carcinoma, the limited stage was 64%. The 12-, 24-, 36- month survival rate of total patients was 57%, 31%, 22%, respectivley and median sruvival time was 15 months. The 36-month survival rate tended to be longer in non-small cell lung carcinoma than that of small cell lung cancer, but there was no difference between two groups, statistically. In non-small cell carcinoma, The 36-month survival rate and meidan survival time were longer in the stage Ⅰ and Ⅱ than those of Ⅲa, Ⅲb, Ⅳ (80% versus 38%, 22%, 0%, p<0.05). According to involvement of lymph node, the 36-month survival rate was longer in NO and N1 than those of N2, N3 (61.9%, 48.7% versus 17.7%, 17.3%, p<0.05). In small cell carcinoma, The 36-month survival rate and median survival rate were higher and longer in limited stage than those of extensive stage(16.1% and 13 month vs 10% and 8 month, p<0.05). In conclusion, we report here the incidence of primary lung carcinoma and the survival rate of paients with primary lung carcinoma who were treated in Soonchunhyang University Hospital.
Development of the High Performance W-Cu Components by Powder Injection Molding

W-Cu alloy was very useful material for a heat sink, high electric contact and EDM electrode. Powder injection molding (PIM) is the optimum manufacturing technology to provide W-Cu components with low-cost and high-volume. We used various compositions of tungsten coated copper powders (W-Cu with 10 to 80 wt-% of copper) to manufacture W-Cu components by PIM. The optimum mixing, injection molding, debinding and sintering conditions to provide the high performance W-Cu components were investigated. The thermal and mechanical properties of W-Cu parts by PIM were measured. Finally, we can verify the high performance of W-Cu components by PIM with the tungsten coated copper.
Development of Cermet Cutting Tool by Powder Injection Molding
Chung Seong-Taek,Kwon Young-Sam 한국분말야금학회 2006 한국분말야금학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2006 No.1
Chip breaker of cutting tool is an important feature to enhance cutting performance. Powder injection molding process was used to produce a triangular-shape cermet grooving insert which has three chip breakers. Attrition milled cermet powders were mixed with wax-based binder system in continuous twin screw extruder. Three-plate injection mold with slide cores was used to produce injection-molded parts. After molding, solvent and thermal debinding was carried out. Sintering was conducted in a batch furnace with a graphite heater. The sintered parts satisfy the requirements of dimensional tolerances and material properties.
Development of Nano-Tungsten-Copper Powder and PM Processes
Lee Seong,Noh Joon-Woong,Kwon Young-Sam,Chung Seong-Taek,Johnson John L.,Park Seong-Jin,German Randall M. 한국분말야금학회 2006 한국분말야금학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2006 No.1
Thermal management technology is a critical element in all new chip generations, caused by a power multiplication combined with a size reduction. A heat sink, mounted on a base plate, requires the use of special materials possessing both high thermal conductivity (TC) and a coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) that matches semiconductor materials as well as certain packaging ceramics. In this study, nano tungsten coated copper powder has been developed with a wide range of compositions, 90W-10Cu to 10W-90Cu. Powder technologies were used to make samples to evaluate density, TC, and CTE. Measured TC lies among theoretical values predicted by several existing models.

We report the surface reaction that occurs in organic inorganic thin films using a hybrid deposition system that combines thermal evaporation (TE) and metalation processes. Growth of a smooth, uniform organic-inorganic hybrid thin film was demonstrated, and the occurrence of a self-limited surface reaction between the organic semiconductor and the inorganic metal atom during the metalation process was confirmed with X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and Raman analysis. In this study, we utilized a hybrid deposition system that combined TE and vapor-phase metalation to create an organic-inorganic hybrid thin film. Experimental data and theoretical simulation of a model system are also provided to explain the barrierless reaction that occurs during synthesis of a zinc tetraphenylporphyrin thin film. This process can be utilized to increase the flexibility for the advanced synthesis of organic-inorganic hybrid thin films.

Synovial Chondromatosis in Temporomandibular Joint
Chung, A-Young,Hong, Jung-Hun,Kwon, Jeong-Seung,Ahn, Hyung-Joon,Choi, Jong-Hoon,Kim, Seong-Taek Korean Academy of Orofacial Pain and Oral Medicine 2014 Journal of Oral Medicine and Pain Vol.39 No.1
Synovial chondromatosis (SC) in temporomandibular joint is a rare benign disorder characterized by cartilaginous metaplasia of the mesenchymal remnants of the synovial tissue. The etiology of the disease is unclear but may be associated with trauma, overuse, local infection, and embryologic disturbance. SC does not spontaneously resolve and respond to nonsurgical treatment. SC should be differentially diagnosed with other temporomandibular joint disorders such as arthralgia or osteoarthritis because surgery should be done for managing it. However, primary diagnosis of SC is not easy because of nonspecific symptoms and signs. For the patients with unsuccessful conservative treatment response, especially accompanied by crepitus, preauricular swelling or posterior open bite, computed tomography/cone-beam computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging should to be performed to exclude SC. We discussed the importance of the early diagnosis and surgical treatment of SC from this case.
