Lj-RGD3, an RGD (Arg-Gly-Asp) toxin protein from the salivary gland of Lampetra japonica, exhibits antifungal activity against Candida albicans. Lj-RGD3 has three RGD motifs and shows homology to histidine-rich glycoprotein. We synthesised two mutant derivatives of Lj-RGD3: Lj-26, which lacks all three RGD motifs and contains no His residues; and Lj-112, which lacks only the three RGD motifs. We investigated the effects of the wild-type and mutated toxins on a gram-positive bacterium (Escherichia coli), a gram-negative bacterium (Staphylococcus aureus), and a fungus (C. albicans). rLj-RGD3 and its mutants exhibited antifungal but not antibacterial activity, as measured by a radial diffusion assay. The C. albicans inhibition zone induced by rLj-112 was larger than that induced by the other proteins, and its inhibitory effect on C. albicans was dose-dependent. In viable-count assays, the rLj-112 MIC was 7.7 μM, whereas the MIC of the positive control (ketoconazole) was 15 μM. Time-kill kinetics demonstrated that rLj-112 effectively killed C. albicans at 1× and 2× MIC within 12 and 6 h, respectively. Electron microscopy analysis showed that rLj-RGD3 and rLj-112 induced C. albicans lysis. Our results demonstrate a novel anticandidal activity for rLj-RGD3 and its mutant derivatives.

The dense granular flow spallation target is a new target concept proposed for an Accelerator-Driven Sub-critical (ADS) system. In this paper, the beam-target configurations of a tungsten granular flow target for the ADS with a thermal power of 1 GW is explored. The beam profile options using different scanning methods are discussed. The critical geometry parameters are adjusted to investigate the performance of the granular target from the aspects of neutron efficiency, stability and temperature distribution in target medium. To figure out how the target under accident conditions would behave, different clogging conditions are induced in the simulation. The dynamic processes are analyzed and some important parameters such as abnormal temperature rise and beam cutoff time window are obtained. The response of the sub-critical reactor to a clogging accident is also investigated. It is indicated that the monitoring of the granular flow by the neutron detectors in the sub-critical core will be effective

Magnetically suspended sensitive gyroscopes (MSSGs) provide an interesting alternative for achieving precious attitude angular measurement. To effectively reduce the measurement error caused by the non-uniformity of the air-gap flux density in a MSSG, this paper proposes a novel compensation method based on measuring and modeling of the air-gap flux density. The angular velocity measurement principle and the structure of the MSSG are described, and then the characteristic of the air-gap flux density has been analyzed in detail. Next, to compensate the flux density distribution error and improve the measurement accuracy of the MSSG, a realtime compensation method based on the online measurement with hall probes is designed. The common issues caused by the non-uniformity of the air-gap flux density can be effectively resolved by the proposed method in high-precision magnetically suspended configurations. Comparative simulation results before and after compensation have verified the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed compensation method.

By adding surfactant polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and controlling the preparation process, we successfully synthesized Co–Mo catalysts. For further improving the dispersion, reduced graphene oxide sheets as catalyst carrier were introduced to synthesize Co–Mo@rGO composite catalyst as highly efficient catalysts for hydrolytic dehydrogenation of ammonia borane. The introduction of Mo for preparing Co–Mo@rGO catalyst helped to form alloy catalyst with better structure, better dispersity and smaller particle size. When the molar ratio of Co and Mo was 0.75 : 0.25, the bimetallic composite catalyst exhibited superior activity with TOF value of 16.29 mol H2 · min -1 · mol Co-Mo -1. The activation energy of the reaction was calculated to be 43.72 kJ · mol -1. Furthermore, the reusability tests reveal that waxberry-like Co–Mo still show good catalytic activity with 80.3 % of their initial activity in five successive runs. The enhanced catalytic activities were due to the synergistic interaction between graphene sheets and waxberry-like Co–Mo NPs, which was beneficial to improve the dispersion and stability of bimetallic NPs. Also, ligand effects on the formation of waxberry-like structure and amorphous state further promoted the catalytic activity.

To improve the sensing accuracy of the newly developed magnetically suspended sensitive gyroscope (MSSG), it is necessary to analyze the causes of drift error. This paper build the models of disturbing torques generated by stator assembly errors based on the geometric construction of the MSSG with double spherical envelope surfaces, and further reveals the generation mechanism of the drift error. Then the drift error from a single stator magnetic pole is calculated quantitatively with the established model, and the key factors producing the drift error are further discussed. It is proposed that the main approaches in reducing the drift error are guaranteeing the rotor envelope surface to be an ideal spherical and improving the controlling precision of rotor displacement. The common problems associated in a gyroscope with a spherical rotor can be effectively resolved by the proposed method.

The aim of this paper is to design a centrifugal deformation error compensation method with guaranteed performance that allows angular velocity measurement of the magnetically suspended sensitive gyroscopes (MSSGs). The angular velocity measurement principle and the structure of the MSSG are described, and the analytical model of errors caused by MSSG rotor centrifugal deformation is established. Then, an on-line rotor centrifugal deformation error compensation method based on measurement of rotor spinning speed in real-time has been designed. The common issues caused by centrifugal deformation of spinning rotors can be effectively resolved by the proposed method. Comparative experimental results before and after compensation demonstrate the validity and superiority of the error compensation method.

Magnetically suspended sensitive gyroscopes (MSSGs) provide an interesting alternative for achieving precious attitude angular measurement. To effectively reduce the measurement error caused by dynamic imbalance, this paper proposes a novel compensation method based on analysis and modeling of the error for a MSSG. Firstly, the angular velocity measurement principle of the MSSG is described. Then the analytical model of dynamic imbalance error has been established by solving the complex coefficient differential dynamic equations of the rotor. The generation mechanism and changing regularity of the dynamic imbalance error have been revealed. Next, a compensation method is designed to compensate the dynamic imbalance error and improve the measurement accuracy of the MSSG. The common issues caused by dynamic imbalance can be effectively resolved by the proposed method in gyroscopes with a levitating rotor. Comparative simulation results before and after compensation have verified the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed compensation method.
