A Study on the Development of Safety Management Checklist Using Accident Case adjacent to Railway Operation

        Sang-Hwan Ryu,Byeoung-Soo Yum,Won-Mo Gal 한국유통과학회 2018 The Journal of Industrial Distribution & Business( Vol.9 No.10

Purpose - This thesis is to develop a management plan and checklist by analyzing the prevention of accidents in advance by presenting the management plan for the major causes of railway accidents. Research design, data and methodology - In recent 5 years, we have analyzed the cases of railway accident, presented the management plan for the accident, and made a practical safety checklist focusing on the main measures according to the management plan. Results - The analysis of the cases of near-railway accidents suggests more concrete and practical safety management measures because the similar accidents are continuously occurring due to formal safety management. Conclusions - It is more valuable to apply to the adjacent construction of the railway line by creating a detailed checklist based on cases rather than the existing checklist. This study is written only as a human factor. For future real - time safety management, it is necessary to study more precisely cause analysis and safety equipment as a big data - based safety control system for more systematic safety management.

Inhibitory Effects of Curcuminoids on 17β-hydroxysteroid Dehydrogenase Type 1 Activity in Animal Livers

        Sung-Eun Lee,Byeoung-Soo Park,Hye Jin Kim,Eun-Woo Lee,Jong Hwa Yum 대한의생명과학회 2013 Biomedical Science Letters Vol.19 No.2

17-β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1 (17β-HSD type 1) mediates the reaction of 17β-estradiol (E2) production from estrone (E1). Inhibitory effects of curcuminoids on 17β-HSD type 1 activity were investigated to find a lead compound for treating estrogen-dependent diseases including breast cancer. Among curcuminoids, demethoxycurcumin showed potent inhibitory effect (IC50 = 2.7 μM) on mouse 17β-HSD type 1. Curcuminoids also displayed their inhibitory effects on the production of 17α-estradiol which is a carcinogenic metabolite produced by the enzyme. Bisdemethoxycurcumin (IC?? = 1.3 μM) showed potent inhibitory effect on the 17α-estradiol production by chicken 17β-HSD type 1. Curcuminoids did not inhibit ERE transcriptional activity with and without E2. Taken together, curcuminoids can be used for treating and preventing E2-dependent diseases via inhibition on 17β-HSD type 1 activity.

Proteomic evaluation on antiplatelet activity of piperlongumine derived from Piper longum

        Lee, Sung-Eun,Park, Byeoung-Soo,Huh, Tae-Lin,Lee, Eun-Woo,Yum, Jong-Hwa The Korean Society of Toxicogenomics and Toxicopro 2010 Molecular & cellular toxicology Vol.6 No.3

Piperlongumine (PL) abundantly present in Piper longum fruits strongly inhibited platelet cell aggregation. Proteomic studies using two-dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (2D-PAGE) and LC-MSIMS analysis showed that PL inhibited collagen-induced aggregation in rabbit platelet cells induced by collagen. Addition of PL protected aggregation of rabbit platelet cells from collagen induction and mediated proteomic changes as 33 proteins decreased and 24 proteins increased. Coagulation factor and fibrinogen were down-regulated and they are involved in aggregation of the platelet cells. Antithrombogenic effect of PL was determined using mice with an i.v. injection of a mixture of collagen and epinephrine. Protection rate of PL on thrombogenic effect of the mixtures was up to 47.9% and it was 8.6% higher than that of aspirin. Taken together, these results strongly suggest that PL is considered as a potent medicine for treating unexpected platelet cell aggregation.

Original Article: Bioactive Materials : L-glutamine:D-fructose-6-phosphate Aminotransferase as a Key Protein Linked to Multidrug Resistance in E. coli KD43162

( Sung Eun Lee ),( Tae Jeon Jung ),( Byeoung Soo Park ),( Byung Woo Kim ),( Eun Woo Lee ),( Hye Jin Kim ),( Jong Hwa Yum ) 한국응용생명화학회 2015 Journal of Applied Biological Chemistry (J. Appl. Vol.58 No.3

A microarray study has been employed to understand changes of gene expression in E. coli KD43162 resistant to ampicillin, ampicillin-sulbactam, piperacillin, piperacillin-tazobactam, cefazolin, cefepime, aztreonam, imipenem, meropenem, gentamicin, tobramycin, ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin, moxifloxacin, fosfomycin, and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole except for amikacin using disk diffusion assay. Using Sodium dodecyl sulphate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and MALDI-TOF MS analyses, 36 kDa of outer membrane proteins (OMPs) was found to be deleted in the multidrug resistant E. coli KD 43162. Microarray analysis was used to determine up- and down-regulated genes in relation to multidrug resistant E. coli KD43162. Among the up-regulated genes, these genes were corresponded to express the proteins as penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), tartronate semialdehyde reductase, ethanolamine utilization protein, shikimate kinase I, allantoinase, predicted SAM-dependent methyltransferase, Lglutamine: D-fructose-6-phosphate aminotransferase (GFAT), phosphoglucosamine mutase, predicted N-acetylmannosamine kinase, and predicted N-acetylmannosamine-6-P epimerase. Up-regulation of PBPs, one of primary target sites of antibiotics, might be responsible for the multidrug resistance in E. coli with increasing amount of target sites. Up-regulation of GFAT enzyme may be related to theup-regulation of PBPs because GFAT produces N-acetylglucosamine, a precursor of peptidoglycans. One of GFAT inhibitors, azaserine, showed a potent inhibition on the growth of E. coli KD43162. In conclusion, up-regulation of PBPs and GFATs with the loss of 36 kDa OMP refers the multidrug resistance in E. coli KD 43162.

Vol.21 No.4

With a goal to establish a human error prevention system, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is currently devising a countermeasure to minimize human errors by establishing a railway safety innovation plan with key contents including national R&D expansion for railway safety technology development. Rolling stocks are playing a pivotal role among Korea`s urban transportation and also as a distinct means of public transportation. However, the layout inside a train operating room, such as locations and operating methods of devices, is differently designed according to the types of rolling stocks, operational tracks, signaling methods and display installation. This leads to a failure in prompt handling of unexpected situations and, accordingly, frequent occurrence of human errors that lead to accidents. Therefore, it is becoming urgently necessary to ensure safety for railway transportation. This study was aimed at developing a DMI program through accident analysis for the purpose of human error accident prevention.
