Purpose: The purpose of this study was to obtain comprehensive understanding of Korean university students’; experience having attachment to Idol. The findings of this study will help find nursing method to improve quality of mental health of university students. Method: Max van Manen’s hermeneutical phenomenology was adopted for the study. 8 participants were recruited using Random Sampling method: aged from 17 to 24 years old. Data came from in-depth, semi-structured interviews. Max van Manen’s 4 steps method for data analyzing were adopted. Result: The analysis produced five themes: 'Fall into Idol for the first time', 'Affection that infinitely penetrates one's heart', 'Secure attachment towards Idol leads to the route of happiness', 'Exhausted lives due to Insecure attachment towards Idol', 'Idol, who is actually in the other world' Conclusion: These results presented that university students could gain psychological stability through fan activity, and consider it as a leisure activity. Meanwhile, they spent a lot of money and time due to an obsession with Idol, and felt negative emotions like skepticism or isolation because of the one-way relationship with Idol. Thus, Mental health professionals need to encourage university students who are attached to Idol to build relationships based on reality, and provide mental health counseling to help them handle emotional stress.

<P>Highly stretchable polymer composite microtubes of poly(methyl methacrylate)/polypyrrole (PMMA/ PPy) were produced as a microarch shape by a meniscus -guided approach using colloidal solutions of the composite polymers. The polymer composite (PMMA/PPy) microarches show high stretchability up to 80% maintaining the electrical properties. Moreover, the microarches endure repeated stretching over 104 (9 x 102) cycles at 20% (80%) stretching without degradation of the electrical properties. The stretchable PMMA/PPy microtube arches are demonstrated as gas sensors with persistent sensitivities and response (recovery) times up to 80% stretching for various NH3 concentrations. These robust properties of the stretchable PMMA/PPy microtube arch sensors can be suitable for portable sensing devices operating under extreme stretching conductions to be used in research laboratories and chemical processing industries for chemical leak detection and environmental monitoring. A coherent synchrotron X-ray microradiology investigation of bubble and droplet coalescence

<▼1><P>Microradiology with coherent X-rays is shown to be very effective in revealing interfaces in multiphase systems and in particular gas bubbles. Its use has been tested in the study of bubble colescence validating the results with a simple theoretical analysis based on mass conservation.</P></▼1><▼2><P>A quantitative application of microradiology with coherent X-rays to the real-time study of microbubble and microdroplet coalescence phenomena, with specific emphasis on the size relations in three-body events, is presented. The results illustrate the remarkable effectiveness of coherent X-ray imaging in delineating interfaces in multiphase systems, in accurately measuring their geometric properties and in monitoring their dynamics.</P></▼2>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>Parkinson's disease (PD), defined as a neurodegenerative disorder, is characterized by the loss of dopaminergic neurons and the presence of Lewy bodies in neurons. Morphological study of Lewy bodies is important to identify the causes and the processes of PD. Here, we investigate a possibility of phase contrast radiography using coherent synchrotron X-rays to explore the microscopic details of Lewy bodies in thick (∼3?mm) midbrain tissues. Autopsied midbrain tissues of a PD patient were sliced in 3?mm thickness and then examined using synchrotron X-rays from the 7B2 beamline of the Pohang Light Source. Refraction-enhanced phase contrast radiography and microtomography were adopted to identify dark core and dim edge of Lewy bodies in neurons. The morphology of Lewy bodies was clearly revealed by the phase contrast radiography in very thick (3?mm) midbrain tissues without any staining treatment. Three-dimensional volume rendered microtomography of the autopsied midbrain tissues demonstrates striking evidence that several Lewy bodies are agglomerated by dim edges in a neuron. We suggest that the phase contrast radiography could be a useful tool to morphologically investigate the causes or the processes in PD.</P>
Rudaea cellulosilytica gen. nov., sp. nov., isolated from soil

<P>A yellow-pigmented, Gram-negative, aerobic, rod-shaped bacterium, strain KIS3-4T, was isolated from soil collected on Daechung Island in the West Sea of Korea. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene sequence placed strain KIS3-4T in a distinct lineage in the family Xanthomonadaceae. Strain KIS3-4T shared 87.3-93.7% sequence similarity with members of the family Xanthomonadaceae, and was related most closely to the genera Dyella and Dokdonella. In its biochemical characteristics, strain KIS3-4T was clearly separable from other genera within the family Xanthomonadaceae on the basis of the hydrolysis of cellulose and urea, high G+C content (64 mol%) and fatty acid profile. Major fatty acids (>10% of the total fatty acids) were iso-C17:1omega9c (32.8%), iso-C17:0 (18.0%) and iso-C16:0 (12.7%). Q-8 was the predominant respiratory quinone. Phosphatidylethanolamine and several unidentified aminophospholipids and phospholipids were present. Based on its unique phenotypic, genotypic and phylogenetic features, strain KIS3-4T represents a novel genus and species, for which the name Rudaea cellulosilytica gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain of Rudaea cellulosilytica is KIS3-4T (=KACC 12734T=JCM 15422T).</P>
Advanced X-ray Microscopy in Materials and Biomedical Sciences

In recent years, x-ray microscopy has been literally revolutionized by the exploitation of the unique characteristics of synchrotron sources. In particular, the high spatial coherence of the radiation significantly contributes to the development of advanced and powerful xray microscopy. The results are very high quality microradiology and microtomograhy images and movies - taken with a limited x-ray dose ? that find a variety of applications in materials science, biology and medical research. In this talk we review basic theory and selected applications of phase contrast x-ray microscopy to materials and biomedical sciences. Furthermore we introduce a new strategy of combining phase contrast radiology and diffraction x-ray microscopy to visualize atomic level defects such as misfit dislocations and micropipes in semiconductor single crystals. Finally phase contrast x-ray imaging in nanometer-resolution (< 30 ㎚) will be demonstrated.
Roseomonas aerilata sp. nov., isolated from an air sample

<P>A polyphasic study was carried out to clarify the taxonomic position of a pink-coloured, Gram-negative bacterium isolated from air in the Suwon region of Korea. The novel strain, 5420S-30(T), grew in the temperature range of 5-35 degrees C (optimum 30 degrees C) and pH range of 5-9 (optimum pH 6-7). Growth did not occur in the presence of as little as 1 % (w/v) NaCl. It contained Q-10 as the predominant ubiquinone. The major fatty acids were C(18 : 1)omega7c, summed feature 3 (C(16 : 1)omega7c/iso-C(15 : 0) 2-OH) and C(16 : 0) (together representing 77.7 % of the total). The DNA G+C content was 72.1 mol%. The 16S rRNA gene sequence similarities between strain 5420S-30(T) and members of the genus Roseomonas were in the range 91.6-95.1 %, with the highest sequence similarities (95.1 and 94.5 %, respectively) to Roseomonas aquatica TR53(T) and Roseomonas gilardii ATCC 49956(T). On the basis of its phenotypic and genotypic characteristics, strain 5420S-30(T) represents a novel species of the genus Roseomonas, for which the name Roseomonas aerilata sp. nov. is proposed, with 5420S-30(T) (=KACC 12521(T) =DSM 19363(T)) as the type strain.</P>
