Effects of bilateral superficial cervical plexus block on sevoflurane consumption during thyroid surgery under entropy-guided general anesthesia: a prospective randomized study

        Sudheesh Kannan,Nethra S Surhonne,Chethan Kumar R,Kavitha B,Devika Rani D,Raghavendra Rao R S 대한마취통증의학회 2018 Korean Journal of Anesthesiology Vol.71 No.2

Background: Bilateral superficial cervical plexus block (BSCPB) provides good postoperative analgesia, but its effect on anesthetic consumption is unknown. This study evaluated the effects of BSCPB on sevoflurane consumption during thyroid surgery. Methods: Fifty patients were randomly allocated into groups A and B of 25 each in this prospective double-blind study. Group A received BSCPB with 20 ml 0.25% bupivacaine, whereas group B received 20 ml saline immediately before entropy-guided general anesthesia. Intraoperative hemodynamic parameters, end-tidal sevoflurane concentration, minimum alveolar concentration, and sevoflurane consumption were recorded. Postoperative pain was assessed using a visual analog scale, and the time of the first request for analgesia was noted. All side effects were recorded. Results: Demographics were comparable. Mean sevoflurane consumption [for 30 min: group A = 7.2 (1.1) ml, group B = 8.8 (2.0) ml, P = 0.001; for 60 min: group A = 13.5 (1.7) ml, group B = 16.5 (3.9) ml, P = 0.002] and mean end-tidal sevoflurane concentration [for 30 min: group A = 1.2% (0.2%), group B = 1.4% (0.2%), P = 0.008; for 60 min: group A = 1.2% (0.1%), group B = 1.4% (0.2%), P = 0.010] were significantly lower in group A. Patients in group A had a longer duration of analgesia [361.6 (79.5) min vs. 151.0 (60.2) min, P < 0.001] compared to those in group B. Conclusions: Preinduction BSCPB during thyroid surgery significantly reduced sevoflurane consumption and increased the duration of postoperative analgesia.

Jansi Rani, B.,Pradeepa, S.S.,Hasan, Zinab M.,Ravi, G.,Yuvakkumar, R.,Hong, S.I. Elsevier 2020 The Journal of physics and chemistry of solids Vol.138 No.-

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Multifunctional transition metal (Mo, Co, Cu) sulphide electrocatalysts were synthesized employing hydrothermal method with stabilization at 180 °C for 24 h for both supercapacitors and water splitting applications. Rhombohedral (MoS2) and hexagonal (CoS and CuS) structures of the electrocatalysts were identified from the X-ray diffraction patterns. Raman-active modes confirmed the characteristic phonon vibrations. The prepared sulphides optical studies were examined employing photoluminescence spectroscopy and UV spectroscopy. Morphological variations observed for different sulphide nanostructures were confirmed by the scanning electron microscopy images. A comparative electrochemical study of MoS2, CoS and CuS was performed. Of the three candidates, MoS2 has superior capacitive behaviour, exhibiting very high specific capacitance of 513F/g at 0.5 A/g, and moreover exhibited the highest oxygen evolution reaction current density of 442.7 mA/g at a scan rate of 10 mV/s. Hybrid Stepper Motor: Model, Open-loop Test, Traditional PI, Optimized PI, and Optimized Gain Scheduled PI Controllers

        B. Keerthi Priya,D. Akhila Reddy,Wasim Ghder Soliman,A. Daisy Rani,D. V. Rama Koti Reddy,Wasim Ghder Soliman 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2022 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.20 No.12

In this paper, a hybrid stepper motor (HSM) model, open-loop control and closed-loop control are explained. To overcome the stepping nature of the HSM open-loop configuration, the closed-loop control is an essential task and is obtained with the help of the HSM mathematical model. Effective closed-loop control strategies are performed based on the field oriented control (FOC) after performing a Park transform. Those strategies are optimized PI controller and optimized gain scheduling PI controller in which the controller’s parameters are tuned optimally using a particle swarm optimization algorithm (PSO) with the integral absolute error (IAE), integral time absolute error (ITAE), and integral time square error (ITSE) performance indexes mean value as an objective function. Additionally, operation under no-load and loaded conditions are tested and compared with the traditional PI controller. The obtained results show that, under loaded conditions, the optimized gain scheduling PI controller gives better performance due to its adaptive nature.

Optimization and evaluation of multigrain gluten-enriched instant noodles

        Savita Rani,Rakhi Singh,Barjinder Pal Kaur,Ashutosh Upadhyay,Dinkar B. Kamble 한국응용생명화학회 2018 Applied Biological Chemistry (Appl Biol Chem) Vol.61 No.5

Central composite design was employed to optimize the cooking, textural and overall acceptability score of the instant dried noodles prepared with multigrain flour and gluten incorporation. Sorghum flour (X1, 10–50%), soy flour (X2, 10–20%) and gluten (X3, 2–4%) were the independent variables investigated with respect to five response variables including cooking time (Y1), cooked weight (Y2), cooking loss (Y3), hardness (Y4) and overall acceptability (Y5). The optimum level was found to be 24.61% sorghum, 13.23% soy and 2.95% gluten resulting in cooking time = 9 ± 0.60 min, cooked weight = 17.30 ± 0.17 g, cooking loss = 11.46 ± 0.64 g/100 g, hardness = 36.65 ± 3.2 N with overall acceptability score of 7.3 ± 0.71, respectively. Optimized noodles showed higher ash (3.40 ± 0.11%), protein (16.63 ± 0.55%), fiber (4.78 ± 0.04%) as well as iron content (4.53 ± 0.02 mg/ 100 g) than the control (0.83 ± 0.02%, 13.13 ± 0.84%, 0.00 and 2.38 mg/100 g) and Maggie noodles (3.19 ± 0.01%, 10.53 ± 0.30%, 0.41 ± 0.50% and 0.22 ± 0.00 mg/100 g) made with refined wheat flour. Optimized noodles also revealed good total phenolic content (84.57 ± 1.42 mg GAE/100 g DW) and 1,1-diphenyl- 2-picrylhydrazyl scavenging activity (19.64 ± 0.20%). Hence, optimized noodles have substantial potential as a protein–fiber-rich complementary food to improve the nutrient delivery of mid-day meal scheme and satisfying the protein requirement of primary class children (12 g/ child/day) as laid down by MHRD (India) under the scheme.

      • Framework for Mission-Based Evaluation of Integrated Avionics Systems of Unmanned Air Vehicles using Functional Mutation Operators for Timeliness

Sudha Rani. S.V,B. Ramadoss 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Software Engineering and Vol.9 No.7

An Unmanned Air Vehicle (UAV) is a collection of functionalities and capabilities required to execute complex missions, with the combination of ground systems (comprising of vehicle and payload control) on ground and Avionics Systems (along with various payloads) on board. The UAV executes various missions using a combination of payloads and their ground control. The mission-based evaluation of the UAV is a challenging task in terms of achieving sufficient test adequacy in generating effective test cases for accomplishment of complex mission roles. The timeliness performance, which is a combination of event-triggered and time-triggered execution of tasks, is the most important category to evaluate an Integrated System’s Mission based performance, in addition to the correctness and consistency of data transactions among the various systems. This paper proposes a framework for an exhaustive mission-based evaluation of timeliness of integrated Avionics Systems of the UAV. The authors introduce various functional mutation operators for achievement of adequate test adequacy for this timeliness performance evaluation.
