For every inverse semigroup S with subsemigroup E of idempotents, necessary and sufficient conditions are obtained for the weighted semigroup algebra $l^1(S,{\omega})$ and its second dual to be $l^1(E)$-module amenble. Some results for the module Arens regularity of $l^1(S,{\omega})$ (as an $l^1(E)$-module) are found. If S is either of the bicyclic inverse semigroup or the Brandt inverse semigroup, it is shown that $l^1(S,{\omega})$ is module amenable but not amenable for any weight ${\omega}$.

As long as the prognosis of teeth remains a matter of concern, the endodontic-periodontal relationship will be considered a challenge for the clinician. Many etiologic factors, including bacteria, fungi, and viruses, plus other contributing factors, such as trauma, root resorptions/perforations, and dental malformations, play a role in the co-occurrence of endodontic and periodontal lesions. Whatever the cause, a correct diagnosis on which to base the treatment plan is the key to successful maintenance of the tooth. This article reports the successful endodontic management of a furcation lesion in a mandibular molar that was nonresponsive to a previous periodontal surgical graft. The case had presented a diagnostic challenge for the clinicians, and this article reviews the key points that can lead to a correct diagnosis and treatment planning.
Necrosis of intact premolar caused by an adjacent apical infection: a case report

Although periapical inflammatory lesions are usually resulted by infection in the root canal system, this rare case showed that a periapical lesion related to an infected tooth may cause pulpal necrosis in adjacent intact tooth, with no history or clinical signs of caries, disease, trauma or developmental anomaly. This case also suggests that the periapical lesion can be treated conservatively, without surgical intervention. Furthermore, this case highlights the importance of prompt treatment of apical periodontitis before the lesion becomes extensive as well as follows up of large lesions.
GENERALIZATIONS OF T-EXTENDING MODULES RELATIVE TO FULLY INVARIANT SUBMODULES

The concepts of t-extending and t-Baer for modules are generalized to those of FI-t-extending and FI-t-Baer respectively. These are also generalizations of FI-extending and nonsingular quasi-Baer properties respectively and they are inherited by direct summands. We shall establish a close connection between the properties of FI-t-extending and FI-t-Baer, and give a characterization of FI-t-extending modules relative to an annihilator condition.
Material distribution optimization of 2D heterogeneous cylinder under thermo-mechanical loading

In this paper optimization of volume fraction distribution in a thick hollow cylinder with finite length made of two-dimensional functionally graded material (2D-FGM) and subjected to steady state thermal and mechanical loadings is considered. The finite element method with graded material properties within each element (graded finite elements) is used to model the structure. Volume fractions of constituent materials on a finite number of design points are taken as design variables and the volume fractions at any arbitrary point in the cylinder are obtained via cubic spline interpolation functions. The objective function selected as having the normalized effective stress equal to one at all points that leads to a uniform stress distribution in the structure. Genetic Algorithm jointed with interior penalty-function method for implementing constraints is effectively employed to find the global solution of the optimization problem. Obtained results indicates that by using the uniform distribution of normalized effective stress as objective function, considerably more efficient usage of materials can be achieved compared with the power law volume fraction distribution. Also considering uniform distribution of safety factor as design criteria instead of minimizing peak effective stress affects remarkably the optimum volume fractions.

Iatrogenic perforations negatively impact the outcome of endodontic treatments. Studies on prognostic factors showed that perforations in the coronal third of the root with periodontal pocket formation have an unfavorable prognosis. A 36-year-old female was referred for endodontic evaluation of tooth #13 with a history of an iatrogenic perforation, happened 3 years ago. There was a sinus tract associated with perforation, 10 mm probing on the mesial and mesio-palatal, bleeding on probing, radiolucent lesion adjacent to the perforation and complete resorption of the interdental bone between teeth #13 and #12. After the treatment options were discussed, she chose to save the tooth. The tooth was accessed under rubber dam isolation, the perforation site was cleaned and disinfected using 0.5% sodium hypochlorite and sealed with calcium-enriched mixture cement. Eighteen months after treatment the tooth was functional and asymptomatic. The probing depths were normal without bleeding on probing. Radiographically, the interdental crestal bone formed between teeth #13 and #12. Despite all negative prognostic factors in this case (i.e., perforations in the coronal third, pocket formation, and radiolucent lesion), healing was unexpectedly achieved via non-surgical repair of the perforation. Further research on biological aspects of healing in the periodontium following iatrogenic perforations are recommended.

An improved convergent and economical method has been developed for the synthesis of erlotinib, a 4-anilinoquinazoline and an EGFR-tyrosine kinase inhibitor for treatment of non-small-cell lung cancer. The final two steps for the formation of this 4-anilinoquinazoline from suitable 2-aminobenzonitrile intermediate and 3-ethynylaniline were modified and were performed in a simple one-pot reaction. The ring-closing mechanism for the formation of erlotinib from the suitable formamidine intermediate and 3-ethynylaniline was investigated and determined to proceed via the formation of phenyl benzamidine intermediate rather than involving Dimroth rearrangement reported earlier. The new benzamidine intermediate was isolated for the first time and characterized.
Surgical management of a failed internal root resorption treatment: a histological and clinical

This article presents the successful surgical management of a failed mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) orthograde obturation of a tooth with a history of impact trauma and perforated internal root resorption. A symptomatic maxillary lateral incisor with a history of perforation due to internal root resorption and nonsurgical repair using MTA was referred. Unintentional overfill of the defect with MTA had occurred 4 yr before the initial visit. The excess MTA had since disappeared, and a radiolucent lesion adjacent to the perforation site was evident radiographically. Surgical endodontic retreatment was performed using calcium enriched mixture (CEM) cement as a repair material. Histological examination of the lesion revealed granulation tissue with chronic inflammation, and small fragments of MTA encapsulated within fibroconnective tissue. At the one and two year follow up exams, all signs and symptoms of disease had resolved and the tooth was functional. Complete radiographic healing of the lesion was observed two years after the initial visit. This case report illustrates how the selection of an appropriate approach to treatment of a perforation can affect the long term prognosis of a tooth. In addition, extrusion of MTA into a periradicular lesion should be avoided.
A critical review on scale concept in GIS-based watershed management studies

Watershed management is critical in achieving sustainable development for water resources. Geographic information system (GIS) provides efficient functions to store, retrieve, analyze, and display spatial data. Therefore, GIS is used to develop watersheds’ decision support systems (DSS) to find useful ways of solving waterbodies’ problems. Studies on watershed problems need considering both biophysical conditions and information on human– environment relationships, which points to the need to deal with different geographical fields. Definitions of scale in each field and making clear connections among them is essential for having comprehensive and practical water management plans. These scales are spatial, social, and political scale. However, in studies on developing a DSS for watershed management, there is a gap in defining social and political scales and aligning them with spatial scale, which can be a barrier to have concrete and integrated watershed GIS-based DSS’s. This study reviews papers in dominating fields of GIS-based DSS’s for watershed management and provides proof that studies have focused only on spatial scales, while social and political scales are considerably neglected. This paper aims to point to this problem by reviewing relevant papers, elaborating some critical issues arisen from this neglect, and suggesting some future directions.
