Anand Chetan Shah,Vishnu Ramanujan,Krishna Muralidharan,Anand Raja 대한혈관외과학회 2021 Vascular Specialist International Vol.37 No.1
Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate and analyze the feasibility and the oncological and functional outcomes of limb salvage surgery in extremity soft tissue sarcomas (ESTS) and bone tumors invading vessels. Materials and Methods: This single-center retrospective analysis included patients with ESTS encasing or invading major blood vessels that were treated by limb salvage surgery with vascular resection and reconstruction between January 1995 and December 2019. Patients with contiguous involvement of major blood vessels and nerves and patients requiring amputation were excluded from the study. Results: A total of 24 vessels (14 arteries and 10 veins) in 14 patients were reconstructed. Ten (71.4%) patients underwent both arterial and venous reconstruction, and four (28.6%) underwent only arterial reconstruction. Reconstruction was performed with a reversed saphenous vein (RSV) graft in 12 patients and with a synthetic graft (SG) in the other 12 patients. At a median follow-up of 27 months, RSV grafts were patent in 10 of 12 (83.3%) vessels and SGs were patent in 6 of 12 (50.0%) vessels (log-rank test, P=0.083). Out of 14 arteries and 10 veins, 11 arteries and 5 veins were patent, respectively. No patient developed local recurrence, and 2 (14.3%) patients developed distant metastases. Limb salvage rate was 13/14 (92.9%). The mean Musculoskeletal Tumor Society score was 83.3%. The 5- and 10-year overall survival rates were 80% and 50%, respectively. Conclusion: Limb salvage surgery in ESTS with vascular resection and reconstruction is feasible and provides favorable oncological and functional outcomes.
Does Sarcopenia Increase the Risk for Fresh Vertebral Fragility Fractures?: A Case-Control Study
Ashish Anand,Ajoy Prasad Shetty,K. R. Renjith,Sri Vijay Anand K. S.,Rishi Mugesh Kanna,Shanmuganathan Rajasekaran 대한척추외과학회 2020 Asian Spine Journal Vol.14 No.1
Study Design: Case-control study. Purpose: Sarcopenia is an age associated condition characterized by decrease in muscle mass, strength, and physical performance. We aimed to investigate whether sarcopenia increased the risk of vertebral fragility fractures among the elderly. Overview of Literature: Initial reports on sarcopenia suggest its contribution to the development of vertebral fragility fractures. However, recent studies showed contradictory findings. Methods: Fifty-one consecutive patients with vertebral fragility fractures and matched controls without fractures were evaluated for sarcopenia, T-score, body mass index, and presence of preexisting vertebral fractures. Sarcopenia was diagnosed as total psoas cross-sectional area (TPA) 2 standard deviations below normative value from normal young adults and decreased handgrip strength (26 kg for men and 18 kg for women). Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed using the fresh fracture occurrence as the dependent variable. Results: Sarcopenia was confirmed in 29.4% and 7.8% of cases and controls (p=0.005), respectively; 56.8% and 13.7% of cases and controls had previous vertebral fractures. Sarcopenia prevalence was greater among those with previous fractures (38% vs. 7.6%; odds ratio, 7.76; p<0.001). TPA was lower among the cases (1,278 mm2 vs. 1,569 mm2, p=0.001) and those with previous fractures (1,168 mm2 vs. 1,563 mm2, p<0.001). Handgrip strength was greater among those without previous fractures (19.6 kg vs. 16.3 kg, p=0.05). In multivariate analysis, sarcopenia was not identified as a significant predictor of fresh fractures whereas previous fractures and lower T-score were found to be significant. Conclusions: Sarcopenia is not an independent risk factor for fresh vertebral fragility fractures in the elderly.
Fatigue Life Validation and Analysis of Connecting Rod
Anand. D. Dantale,Ashok. J. Keche 보안공학연구지원센터 2014 International Journal of Hybrid Information Techno Vol.7 No.6
The connecting rod in four stroke reciprocating diesel engine is subjected to variable loading when Engine is in operating condition. The design of connecting rod is critical for the engine Performance, fatigue life, linear vibration & durability of engine. The fatigue failure is occurred due to alternating compressive & tensile stresses during its two revolutions. The fuel combustion inside cylinder generates a huge compressive force at power stroke. The 3D model is prepared and CAE analysis is done to predict the maximum Stresses and check whether it is safe for fatigue failure. The modification in design is done to make it safe for fatigue life. The experimental Fatigue testing is carried out to validate the predicted & Actual fatigue life of connecting rod.

Anand Balupuri, Pavithra K. Balasubramanian, Seung Joo Cho 조선대학교 기초과학연구원 2015 조선자연과학논문집 Vol.8 No.1
Glycogen synthase kinase 3 (GSK-3) is a serine/threonine protein kinase that has recently emerged as a promising target in drug discovery. It is involved in multiple cellular processes and associated with the pathogenesis of several diseases. A three-dimensional quantitative structure-activity relationship (3D-QSAR) analysis was performed on a series of GSK- 3 inhibitors to understand the structural basis for inhibitory activity. Comparative molecular field analysis (CoMFA) method was used to derive 3D-QSAR models. A reliable CoMFA model was developed using ligand-based alignment scheme. The model produced statistically acceptable results with a cross-validated correlation coefficient (q2) of 0.594 and a non-cross-validated correlation coefficient (r2) of 0.943. Robustness of the model was checked by bootstrapping and progressive scrambling analysis. This study could assist in the design of novel compounds with enhanced GSK-3 inhibitory activity.
Simplified DC voltage sensorless control of single-phase PFC converters in EV chargers
Anand, Nidumolu Vijaya,Praneeth, Ammanamanchi Venkata Jaya Sai,Yalla, Naveen,Sood, Vijay K. The Korean Institute of Power Electronics 2022 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.22 No.11
A novel method for controlling the output DC link voltage of a single-phase power factor correction (PFC) converter without using a DC voltage sensor for electric vehicle (EV) charging is proposed in this paper. The conventional boost PFC converter normally uses three expensive sensors, i.e., at the input voltage, the input current, and the output voltage. These sensors are used to regulate the power quality and maintain system stability. To reduce the cost and hardware complexity in the power converter, a DC voltage sensorless control using an estimator is proposed. This method utilizes the available input voltage and current signals to predict the output DC link voltage. This predicted output voltage contains an average DC component superimposed with a small ripple content at double the line frequency (2f). The proposed control method tracks the reference sinewave signal to maintain a high-power factor. The converter also exhibits very stable behavior under transient load variations. Simulated and experimental validation results obtained with a 1 kW prototype PFC converter are included.

The HIV-1 envelope glycoprotein gp120 plays a vital role in the entry of the virus into the host cells. The crucial role of the glycoprotein suggests gp120 as potential drug target for the future antiviral therapies. Identification of the binding mode of small drug like compounds has been an important goal in drug design. In the current study we attempt to propose binding mode of indole derivatives in the binding pocket of gp120. These derivatives are reported to inhibit HIV-1 by acting as attachment inhibitors that bind to gp120 and prevent the gp120-CD4 interaction and thus inhibit the infectivity of HIV-1. To elucidate the molecular basis of the small molecules interactions to inhibit the glycoprotein function we employed the molecular docking simulation approach. This study provides insights to elucidate the binding pattern of indole-based gp120 inhibitors and may help in the rational design of novel HIV-1 inhibitors with improved potency
