Pharmacokinetics of amikacin in plasma of healthy goats after intravenous injection once daily for three days

        Naseem, Sania,Sultana, Mudasir,Raina, Rajinder,Pankaj, Nrip Kishore,Verma, Pawan Kumar,Nasir, Nasir Ahmad,Ahanger, Azad Ahmad,Rahman, Shafiqur,Prawez, Shahid The Korean Society of Veterinary Science 2011 大韓獸醫學會誌 Vol.51 No.4

Amikacin is a semisynthetic derivative of kanamycin and primarily active against aerobic Gram-negative-pathogens with limited activity against Gram-positive bacteria. Meager study was reported on pharmacokinetic data on multi-days administration of amikacin. Hence, pharmacokinetics study was done in five clinically healthy goats (n = 5), after intravenous bolus injection of amikacin sulfate at the dose rate of 10 mg/kg body weight daily for three consecutive days. The amikacin concentrations in plasma and pharmacokinetics-parameters were analyzed by using microbiological assay technique and noncompartmental open-model, respectively. The mean peak plasma concentrations (Mean ${\pm}$ SD) of amikacin at time zero ($Cp^{0}$) was $114.19{\pm}20.78$ and $128.67{\pm}14.37{\mu}g/mL$, on day 1st and 3rd, respectively. The mean elimination half-life ($t_{1/2}ke$) was $1.00{\pm}0.28h$ on day 1st and $1.22{\pm}0.29h$ on day 3rd. Mean of area under concentration-time curve ($AUC_{0{\rightarrow}{\infty}}$) was $158.26{\pm}60.10$ and $159.70{\pm}22.74{\mu}g.h/mL$, on day 1st and 3rd respectively. The total body clearance ($Cl_{B}$) and volume of distribution at steady state (Vdss) on day 1st and 3rd were $Cl_{B}=0.07{\pm}0.02$ and $0.06{\pm}0.01L/h.kg$ and $Vdss=0.10{\pm}0.03$ and $0.11{\pm}0.05L/kg$, respectively. No-significant difference was noted in both drug-plasma concentration and pharmacokinetics-parameters, respectively. Amikacin concentration in plasma was found higher up-to 4 h and 6 h onward on down-ward trends favour to reduce toxicity. Which also support the pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic way of dosing of aminoglycosides and hence, amikacin may be administered 10 mg/kg intravenously daily to treat principally Gram-negative pathogens and limitedly Gram-positive-pathogens.

Enhanced TDMA based MAC Protocol for Adaptive Data Control in Wireless Sensor Networks

        Ahmad Naseem Alvi,Safdar Hussain Bouk,Syed Hassan Ahmed,Muhammad Azfar Yaqub,Nadeem Javaid,김동균 한국통신학회 2015 Journal of communications and networks Vol.17 No.3

In this paper, we propose an adaptive time division multiple access based medium access control (MAC) protocol, called bitmap-assisted shortest job first based MAC (BS-MAC), for hierarchical wireless sensor networks (WSNs). The main contribution of BS-MAC is that: (a) It uses small size time slots. (b) The number of those time slots is more than the number of member nodes. (c) Shortest job first (SJF) algorithm to schedule time slots. (d) Short node address (1 byte) to identify members nodes. First two contributions of BS-MAC handle adaptive traffic loads of all members in an efficientmanner. The SJF algorithm reduces node’s job completion time and to minimize the average packet delay of nodes. The short node address reduces the control overhead and makes the proposed scheme an energy efficient. The simulation results verify that the proposed BS-MAC transmitsmore data with less delay and energy consumption compared to the existing MAC protocols.

        M. Naseem,Mohammed Aslam Husain,Ahmad Faiz Minai,Ahmad Neyaz Khan,Mohd Amir,J. Dinesh Kumar,Arif Iqbal 한국전기전자재료학회 2021 Transactions on Electrical and Electronic Material Vol.22 No.3

Numerous global peak searching mechanisms have been proposed to solve the problem of energy loss due to partial shading of solar photovoltaic (PV) plants but still there is a great need for an effi cient and fast global maximum power point tracker (GMPPT). A detailed review of GMPPT based on various meta-heuristic and classical methods along with the basics of partial shading phenomenon, proper positioning of the PV panels, distributed MPPT, Field MPPT etc. will be of great help to the researchers. Till date, it looks like that not a single literature has covered these issues at a single place and thus, this article fi lls this gap by providing a detailed assessment, tabulated gist of the various GMPPT along with the basics of key issues related to partial shading of PV plants. Various classical and bio-inspired meta-heuristic based GMPPT methods have been compared in this literature. It is expected that this paper will prove to be a valuable asset and a complete reference for the academicians and professionals for further research and proper selection of a GMPPT technique.

In classical literature of Unani system of medicine, physicians wrote a lot about this procedure. The details of venesection is mentioned in the given paper on the basis of classical literature including history, indications, types, amount of blood to be venesected, time, person, procedure, complications and special focus has been made on the number of vessels to be venesected and their benefits with respected to disease and condition.

      • Quad-Active-Bridge Converter with Integrated Magnetic Current Balancing Cell for DC Distribution System

        Nabeel Naseem,Honnyong Cha,Ubaid Ahmad,Heung-Geun Kim 전력전자학회 2019 ICPE(ISPE)논문집 Vol.2019 No.5

In this paper integrated magnetic current balancing (IMCB) cell-based asymmetrically configured Quad-Active-Bridge (QAB) converter is proposed. QAB converter provides high-frequency isolation for a dc-dc stage of solid-state-transformer (SST), as well as provides a modular solution to the SST medium-voltage (MV) dc link. The proposed IMCB cell ensures the current balancing among the three active H-bridges without using any dedicated controller when transferring equal power from MV to low voltage (LV) side. The proposed IMCB cell is the integration of three inductors of the active H-bridges required for power transfer and zero voltage switching (ZVS), which doesn’t require extra magnetic volume. Simulation and experimental results are presented to validate the performance.

      • Integrated Current Balancing Transformer Based Input-Parallel Output-Parallel LLC Resonant Converter Modules

        Ubaid Ahmad,Honnyong Cha,Nabeel Naseem,Duc-Tuan Do 전력전자학회 2019 ICPE(ISPE)논문집 Vol.2019 No.5

Input-parallel output-parallel (IPOP) connected converter system allows the use of low power converter modules for high power applications. In this paper, a reliable integrated current balancing transformer (ICBT) is proposed for the current balancing requirement of IPOP LLC resonant converter modules. The proposed ICBT based IPOP LLC resonant converter modules ensures both input current sharing (ICS) and output current sharing (OCS) in constituent modules, without dedicated controller. The proposed ICBT is basically the resonant inductors of LLC resonant converter modules, coupled to perform the function of current balancing, and also have enough leakage inductance for resonance operation simultaneously. Moreover, the proposed ICBT can significantly reduce the overall magnetic volume, and increase the power density of IPOP LLC resonant converter modules. Magnetic and electrical models of the proposed ICBT have been presented in this paper. To validate the performance of the proposed ICBT based IPOP LLC resonant converter modules, a 2.5 kW hardware prototype has been designed, fabricated and tested successfully.

      • An Improved Method of Organogenesis from Cotyledon Callus of Acacia sinuata (Lour.) Merr. using Thidiazuron

Shahzad Anwar,Ahmad Naseem,Anis Mohammad The Korean Society of Plant Biotechnology 2006 Plant molecular biology and biotechnology research Vol.8 No.1

An efficient protocol for in vitro multiple shoot bud induction and plant regeneration from mature green cotyledon derived callus tissues of Acacia sinuata has been developed. Callus formation occurs at all the concentrations of thidiazuron (TDZ) in Murashige and Skoog's (MS) medium, but 0.6 ${\mu}M$ proved to be the best with maximum callus formation frequency. Supplementation of TDZ in combination with indole-acetic acid (IAA) in MS media accelerates shoot bud organogenesis in differentiating callus tissues with 60-70% conversion of shoot buds into shoot Most efficient shoot organogenesis was recorded when TDZ induced calli were subcultured at different concentrations of 6-benzyla-denine (BA). Optimum shoot bud induction and plant regeneration from callus was achieved when 0.6 ${\mu}M$ (TDZ) induced calli were subcultured at 3.0 ${\mu}M$ (BA) where $16.6{\pm}0.74$ shoots/unit callus on obtained. Rooting in in vitro differentiated shoots was achieved when transferred to medium containing different concentration of indole-3-butyric acid (IBA) in full & half strength MS medium. The well rooted plantlets were hardened and transferred to net house with 90% survival rate.

Critical analysis of various supporting mediums employed for the incapacitation of silver nanomaterial for aniline and phenolic pollutants: A review

        Jawayria Najeeb,Ghazia Ahmad,Saima Nazir,Khalida Naseem,Ayesha Kanwal 한국화학공학회 2021 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.38 No.2

An enormous number of specific case studies have been reported that deal with the removal methodologies customarily employed for the reduction of common aqua-soluble pollutants [particularly nitrophenols (NPs) and nitroaniline (NAs)]. However, reviews that not only organize the literature in some presentable form but also work as a guideline for new scholars looking to exploit the field of nanocatalysis are surprisingly non-existent. Here in, an attempt has been made to comprehensively summarize the basic issues along with an insight to specific contributions devoted to NAs and NPs removal by utilizing the nanomaterial of silver. Furthermore, keeping in mind the significance of the surface functionalization of nanomaterial in catalysis, advantages/disadvantages of several entrapment mediums generally adopted for preventing the aggregation of nanomaterial are also summarized. A generalized overview of the various commonly employed removal practices along with its comparison to the catalytic reductive technique is also presented in the study. Finally, remaining unaddressed problems associated with this field and future directions for engineering cost-efficient and effective nanocatalyst assemblies are discussed in the end.

      • No Association of the TGF-β1 29T/C Polymorphism with Breast Cancer Risk in Caucasian and Asian Populations: Evidence from a Meta-Analysis Involving 55, 841 Subjects

Alqumber, Mohammed A.A.,Dar, Sajad Ahmad,Haque, Shafiul,Wahid, Mohd,Singh, Rohit,Akhter, Naseem Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.20

        The transforming growth factor-${\beta}1$ (TGF-${\beta}1$) gene 29 T/C polymorphism is thought to be associated with breast cancer risk. However, reports are largely conflicting and underpowered. We therefore conducted a meta-analysis of all available case-control studies relating the TGF-${\beta}1$ 29T/C polymorphism to the risk of developing breast cancer by including a total of 31 articles involving 24,021 cases and 31,820 controls. Pooled ORs were generated for the allele contrasts, with additive genetic, dominant genetic and recessive genetic models. Subgroup analysis was also performed by ethnicity for the TGF-${\beta}1$ 29T/C polymorphism. No association was found in the overall analysis (C vs T: OR=1.028, 95% CI=0.949-1.114, p-value 0.500; CC vs TC: OR= 1.022, 95% CI=0.963-1.085, p-value 0.478; CC vs TT: OR= 1.054, 95% CI=0.898-1.236, p-value 0.522; CC vs TT+ TC: OR= 1.031, 95% CI=0.946-1.124, p-value 0.482; TT vs CC+TC: OR= 0.945, 95% CI=0.827-1.080, p-value 0.403). Similarly, in the subgroup analysis by ethnicity, no association was found in Caucasian (C vs T: OR= 1.041, 95% CI=0.932-1.162, p-value 0.475; CC vs TC: OR= 1.031, 95% CI=0.951-1.118, p-value 0.464; CC vs TT: OR= 1.081, 95% CI=0.865-1.351, p-value 0.493; CC vs TT+TC: OR= 1.047, 95% CI=0.929-1.180, p-value 0.453; TT vs CC+TC: OR= 0.929, 95% CI=0.775-1.114, p-value 0.429;) and Asian populations (C vs T: OR= 1.004, 95% CI=0.908-1.111, p-value 0.931; CC vs TC: OR= 0.991, 95% CI=0.896-1.097, p-value 0.865; CC vs TT: OR= 1.015, 95% CI=0.848-1.214, p-value 0.871; CC vs TT+TC: OR= 1.000, 95% CI=0.909-1.101, p-value 0.994; TT vs CC+TC: OR= 0.967, 95% CI=0.808-1.159, p-value 0.720;). No evidence of publication bias was detected during the analysis. No significant association with breast cancer risk was demonstrated overall or on subgroup (Caucasian and Asian) analysis. It can be concluded that TGF-${\beta}1$ 29T/C polymorphism does not play a role in breast cancer susceptibility in overall or ethnicity-specific manner.
