There is an increasing focus on integrating flexible dc links for bulk power routing in medium voltage distribu-tion grids. In such applications, the ac-dc Modular Multilevel Converter (MMC) devised for medium voltage and high-power ratings can be an interesting choice. This paper highlights some less explored design trade-offs arising due to the limitation on N in relation to modulation frequency and arm inductance. Specifically, the study intends to describe the interdependent influence of each degree of freedom on several aspects such as capacitor voltage balancing, circulating currents and harmonic performance. Finally, the importance of considering interhar-monics in the performance assessment of the MMC instead of the conventional interpretation of distortion calculation is highlighted.

During the operation of a three line ac link in parallel with a ac-dc-ac link system that employs Back-to-Back (B2B) Medium Voltage Modular Multilevel Converters (MMC), a path for the low frequency zero sequence currents is shown to exist. Apart from causing additional losses, these currents can result in limitations on power capacity. A detailed analysis on the influence of cell capacitance, arm inductance and link conductor length on the circulating zero sequence currents and the means to mitigate them through a simulated control strategy is investigated. The simulations show that the dc link employing B2B-MMC can successfully operate in parallel with ac link without transformer isolation by controlling the zero sequence currents.

Purpose: This study was performed to evaluate the reliability of the identification of anatomical landmarks in panoramic and lateral cephalometric radiographs on a standard medical grade picture archiving communication system (PACS) monitor and a tablet computer (iPad 5). Materials and Methods: A total of 1000 radiographs, including 500 panoramic and 500 lateral cephalometric radiographs, were retrieved from the de-identified dataset of the archive of the Section of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology of the University Of Connecticut School Of Dental Medicine. Major radiographic anatomical landmarks were independently reviewed by two examiners on both displays. The examiners initially reviewed ten panoramic and ten lateral cephalometric radiographs using each imaging system, in order to verify interoperator agreement in landmark identification. The images were scored on a four-point scale reflecting the diagnostic image quality and exposure level of the images. Results: Statistical analysis showed no significant difference between the two displays regarding the visibility and clarity of the landmarks in either the panoramic or cephalometric radiographs. Conclusion: Tablet computers can reliably show anatomical landmarks in panoramic and lateral cephalometric radiographs.
Endoscopic Management of Post-Polypectomy Bleeding
Aditya Gutta,Mark A. Gromski 대한소화기내시경학회 2020 Clinical Endoscopy Vol.53 No.3
Post-polypectomy bleeding (PPB) is one of the most common complications of endoscopic polypectomy. There are multiple riskfactors related to patient and polyp characteristics that should be considered. In most cases, immediate PPB can be effectively managedendoscopically when recognized and managed promptly. Delayed PPB can manifest in a myriad of ways. In severe delayed PPB,resuscitation for hemodynamic stabilization should be prioritized, followed by endoscopic evaluation and therapy once the patientis stabilized. Future areas of research in PPB include the risks of direct oral anticoagulants and of specific electrosurgical settings forhot-snare polypectomy vs. cold-snare polypectomy, benefits of closure of post-polypectomy mucosal defects using through-the-scopeclips, and prospective comparative evaluation of newer hemostasis agents such as hemostatic spray powder and over-the-scope clips.

A coupled thermofluidic-mechanical model has been developed to analyse the thermomechanical state of the solidifying shellin a continuously cast steel billet. The computational fluid dynamics (CFD) based solver simulates the three-dimensionalflow field and solidification of molten steel as it flows inside the mould. Finite element method based thermomechanicalmodel is coupled with the CFD model to determine the resultant temperature distribution and stress–strain evolution in thesolidifying strand. The heat transfer at the mould-billet interface is taken into account by the calculation of heat flux using anovel inverse heat transfer algorithm. Temperature measurements made in the industrial billet mould have been used for thepurpose. Plant experiments and observations are correlated with the numerical results to provide quantitative understandingof the complex thermomechanical process during billet casting. Various parametric studies are also undertaken to examinethe effects of casting speed, superheat and heat flux changes on resultant strain and temperature distribution. It is observedthat the accumulated plastic strains exceed the critical strain at the off-corner region thereby indicating the possibility ofcrack formation in this region. Reduction of heat flux can lead to lowering of the strain rate at the corners and offer a viablesolution for reducing corner cracks.

Six-legged hexapod walking robots are well-known for their intrinsic stability during navigation and 6-DoF object manipulation. The robot must be operated under a stable workspace envelope to attain effective manipulation. The structural parameters of the robot dramatically influence the characteristics of the workspace. Most studies analyze the workspace only by varying the leg parameter of the robot, maintaining the base configuration constant. This study aims to investigate the effect of change in the base plate characteristics on the workspace for an axially symmetric hexapod robot with cyclic and elliptical configurations. Superimposing the lateral 2D workspace of each pair of legs evolved to obtain a 3D workspace. The quantitative data analysis of the workspace shows that the cyclic configuration has an average increase of 23.74 %, and the elliptical configuration has a reduction of 1.97 % reachable workspace volume compared with regular hexapods. Furthermore, regular, cyclic, and elliptical hexapods are fabricated and validated with the selective workspace analysis data to reinforce the results. This study shows that the change in the hexagonal base plate configuration has a significant influence on workspace characteristics.

The designed IC consumes less than 0.15 mm2 of core area, making it feasible to be applied for multi-array medical ultrasound imaging systems, including portable handheld applications.
Boredom, Time-Perception and Algorithmic Governmentality
( Aditya Nayak ) 중앙대학교 인문콘텐츠연구소 2021 인공지능인문학연구 Vol.7 No.-
The contemporary life is organised around systems of entertainment. We are scared of boredom. This fear of boredom is not a natural fear in human beings, it began to be experienced with the dawn of modernity. Repetitive, monotonous boredom protects us from external stimuli, this is why consumer capitalism requires its absolute demolition to acquire complete control over the consciousness of its subjects. This control extends beyond product advertisement to social as well as political control.

This paper studies the limitations and socio-political implications of datacentric AI development process. It argues that the contemporary AI development is limited by its own definition of the field whereby it has become oblivious to several human realities. The paper argues that the big digital-eyes project marks the beginning of a new class of machines that can be called ‘Affective- Machines’. In conclusion, the paper argues that there is a need to shift towards a trans-disciplinary systems approach in order to integrate perspectives from various disciplines while trying to negotiate the socio-political issues arising.
