In this work, synthesis, characterization and antimicrobial activity of series of imidazolines-oxazolines scaffolds 5a-f and 10a-d have been investigated. All the imidazolines-oxazolines derivatives were prepared from acid derivatives 1 and 6a-c, and enantiomerically pure (S)-2-amino-3-methyl-1-butanol in four steps with excellent optical purity. The structures of all newly synthesized compounds have been elucidated by $^1H$, $^{13}C$ NMR, GCMS, and IR spectrometry. Their purity was confirmed using elemental analysis. Some newly synthesized compounds were examined to in-vitro antimicrobial activity. Among the prepared products 10d was found to exhibits the most active against all tested bacteria and fungi with minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) ranged between 21.9 and $42.6{\mu}g/mL$.

The SrBixAlxFe12-2xO19 (x = 0.0–1.0) nano-hexaferrites were prepared via facile micro-emulsion methodand ferroelectric, dielectric, magnetic, photocatalytic and antibacterial properties were investigatedbased on doping contacts. The XRD analysis confirmed the hexagonal single-phase material with P63/mmc space group. P-E loops indicated the higher polarization and coercivity values for doped materials. VSM results showed that maximum and remnant magnetizations were quite high for undoped materialwhile coercivity was low than doped hexaferrite. Optical band gap was reduced to 1.63 eV from 2 eV(pristine) for highly doped composition. PL intensity showed a sharp decline with doping, which indicatedthe better inhibition of charge carriers on doping. The photo-catalytic activity of pristine and thedoped SrBixAlxFe12-2xO19 was investigated using Crystal Violet and Rhodamine B dyes under solar irradiation. SrAlxBixFe12-2xO19 (x = 1.0) exhibited improved catalytic efficiency and up to 83 and 86 (%) removalof CV and RhB dyes with rate constant of 0.047 and 0.048 (min1), respectively. Highly doped ferrite alsoshowed enhanced bactericidal action against S. aureus and E. coli strains. Superior mineralization of textiledyes and good antimicrobial activity of Bi and Al doped strontium nano-hexaferrites make such materialas crucial candidate for solar light responsive photocatalytic and antimicrobial applications.

In this paper, the effect of fire conditions according to ISO 834 standard on the behavior of carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) reinforced steel beams coated with gypsum-based mortar has been investigated numerically. To study the efficiency of these beams, 3D coupled temperature-displacement finite element analyzes have been conducted. Mechanical and thermal characteristics of three different parts of composite beams, i.e., steel, CFRP plate, and fireproof coating, were considered as a function of temperature. The interaction between steel and CFRP plate has been simulated employing the adhesion model. The effect of temperature, CFRP plate reinforcement, and the fireproof coating thickness on the deformation of the beams have been analyzed. The results showed that within the first 120 min of fire exposure, increasing the thickness of the fireproof coating from 1 mm to 10 mm reduced the maximum temperature of the outer surface of the steel beam from 380°C to 270°C. This increase in the thickness of the fireproof layer decreased the rate of growth in the temperature of the steel beam by approximately 30%. Besides excellent thermal resistance and gypsum-based mortar, the studied fireproof coating method could provide better fire resistance for steel structures and thus can be applied to building materials.

There is a persistent imbalance between energy demand and supply since renewable energy sources are intermittent. A potential answer to this ongoing problem is the development of suitable materials that could be utilized in storage energy devices. Among all the devices, supercapacitors with effficient electrode material are one of the possible storage technologies. Here in the present work, a cerium selenide/reduced graphene oxide (CeSe/rGO) heterostructure-based electrode is fabricated via hydrothermal technique. The synthesized CeSe/rGO performs well with 810.45 F g −1 specific capacitance at 1.5 A g −1, and an exceptional rate of capability with negligible instability up to 5000th cycles. Additionally, the probable contribution of rGO to the composite's ability to increase supercapacitance through synergy effect of CeSe and rGO has been observed. EIS (Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy) was exploited to fi nd out the mechanism of charge transmission for the fabricated material. The electrochemical analysis indicates that CeSe/rGO exhibited the superior performance than the apparently cutting-edge structures.
The effect of microfinance on women’s empowerment : Evidence from Malaysia
Sayed Samer Ali AL-SHAMI,Muhammad M. RAZALI,Izaidin MAJID,Ahmed ROZELAN,Nurulizwa RASHID 이화여자대학교 아시아여성학센터 2016 Asian Journal of Women's Studies(AJWS) Vol.22 No.3
Microfinance is widely known as a financial development tool for those deprived of access to financial services, especially women. However, the literature provides conflicting evidence and shows that women’s empowerment may not, or may only be partially achieved through microcredit, especially in Muslim societies. This study seeks to scrutinize the effect of Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM), a microcredit institution, on Malay Muslim women in an urban area. A quasi-experimental method was used to conduct a cross sectional survey of 500 old and new clients. Informal semi-structured interviews were conducted with 20 current clients who had received microcredit two years earlier. The findings show that AIM microcredit empowered the women and enhanced gender equality. It enabled women to access financial capital, form their micro- and smallbusinesses and obtain an income which helped them to contribute to household expenditure. Even though the effect of microcredit was partial, it provided them bargaining power for decision-making and controlling of resources and enhanced their self-esteem in their households and communities.
Biomass Partitioning during the Life Cycle of Saffron (Crocus sativus L.) Using Regression Models
Mohammad Ali Behdani,Majid Jami Al-Ahmadi,Hamid-Reza Fallahi 한국작물학회 2016 Journal of crop science and biotechnology Vol.19 No.1
In this study saffron biomass partitioning was investigated in the research station of the Saffron Research Group, University of Birjand, Iran during 2009 - 2010. Plant sampling was done 25 times during the crop growth cycle. In each sampling date, the amounts of corm dry weight, root dry weight, root length, leaf dry weight, leaf area, bud number, bud dry weight (nodes on the surface of the corm), and flower weight were measured. Finally, different regression models were tested for predicting biomass partitioning in saffron. The cubic polynomial model was found to be the best for predicting biomass changes in most saffron organs (R2 = ~74%). Total corm dry weight showed a decreasing trend up to the 120th day of plant growth and then increased until the end of the life cycle (mid-May). However, different trends were observed for root and leaf dry weights. Root and leaf dry weight increased up to the 120th and 150th day of the plant growth cycle, respectively, followed then by decreasing trends. Therefore, in the early growing season, leaves and root systems were developed using mother corms reservoirs, but at the end of the growth cycle replacement corms were grown by translocation of reservoirs from other saffron organs. In addition, the number and dry weight of buds had increasing trends during 160 days of measurement from the beginning of the growing season. The total length of roots and leaf area increased up to the middle of the growth cycle (Feb. 10) and then decreased. Moreover, saffron flower yield showed a rapid increasing trend in the first phase of the flowering period and then declined with a slower trend during the second flowering phase.
Dental needle foreign body in the neck: a case report
Mohammed, Hassen,Shallik, Nabil,Barsoum, Mina,Abdulla, Majid Al,Dogan, Zynel,Ahmed, Hassan Haidar,Moustafa, Abbas The Korean Dental Society of Anesthsiology 2020 Journal of Dental Anesthesia and Pain Medicine Vol.20 No.2
Foreign body (FB) ingestion is commonly seen in the ear nose and throat (ENT) field, with different presentations and sequelae. FBs can arrest in the upper aerodigestive tract or continue further down into either the airway tract to the bronchus or the digestive tract to the intestines. The pathway of an FB depends on the size and shape of the FB and how sharp its edges are. Since the 20th century, the use of disposable stainless-steel needles in the oral cavity has proven to be an effective and safe method for performing various intraoral procedures like dental infiltration or a root canal wash. Complications from their use are rare. Generally, dental needle breakages are caused by patients biting the needle, incorrect injection techniques, or inadequate preventative measures. The sudden movement of a patient during a procedure is one of the most common causes of breakage. Occasionally, needles are swallowed during dental procedures such as a root canal. Here, we report a case of a patient that swallowed a broken needle during a dental procedure. A few days later, the patient presented with neck pain, swelling, and a FB sensation. When the patient presented, she claimed that her symptoms had onset after consuming a meal containing duck meat. Initially, the patient was diagnosed as having ingested a duck bone. However, intraoperatively, the FB was discovered to be an injection needle that had migrated from the throat to the neck.

The jurisprudential legal rules govern the way Muslims react and interact to daily life. This creates a huge stream of questions, that require highly qualified and well-educated individuals, called Muftis. With Muslims representing almost 25% of the planet population, and the scarcity of qualified Muftis, this creates a demand supply problem calling for Automation solutions. This motivates the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to solve this problem, which requires a well-designed Question-Answering (QA) system to solve it. In this work, we propose a QA system, based on retrieval augmented generative transformer model for jurisprudential legal question. The main idea in the proposed architecture is the leverage of both state-of-the art transformer models, and the existing knowledge base of legal sources and question-answers. With the sensitivity of the domain in mind, due to its importance in Muslims daily lives, our design balances between exploitation of knowledge bases, and exploration provided by the generative transformer models. We collect a custom data set of 850,000 entries, that includes the question, answer, and category of the question. Our evaluation methodology is based on both quantitative and qualitative methods. We use metrics like BERTScore and METEOR to evaluate the precision and recall of the system. We also provide many qualitative results that show the quality of the generated answers, and how relevant they are to the asked questions.
