The present study has been undertaken to see if any proper measure be found for the determination of available phosphorus by chemical extraction on the basis of A-values as the standard. The results obtained are described as follows. 1. Since A-value of the samples under study showed a significant correlation with Fe-P at 1% level. The available phosphorus in the present paddy soils was considered to be affected by Fe-P. 2. Six methods for chemical extraction were not correlated with the determination of Fe-P, proving them inadequate for the quantitative measurement of available phosphorus. 3. Adequate method for extracting available phosphorus in paddy soils should rest on the measurement of the reduction intensity of Fe-P. The extractable intensity was estimated to be 270 ppm in average. 4. Bray No. 2-P showed significant correlation with Lancaster-P, Spurway-P, Truog-P, and (Ca+Al)-P at 5% level. Olsen-P and Lancaster-P indicated significant correlation with Al-P and Spurway-P with Ca-P respectively at 1% level. 한국답토양십종(韓國畓土壤十種)을 시료(試料)로하여 유효인산정량(有動燐酸定量)에 적합한 화학적(化學的) 추출방법(油出方法)을 찾고저 A-value인(燐)-32 추적자법(追跡子淪)에 의한 유효인산정량치(有效燐酸定量値)를 표준으로 하여 시험한 결과 다음과 같은 결과(讀果)를 얻었다. 1 A·value는 Fe-P(인산철(燐酸鐵))와만 1%수준(水準)의 유의상관(有意相鬪)이 있으므로 답토양(畓土壤)의 유효인산(有刻燐酸)은 Fe·p계(系)에 의하여 지배(支配)되고 있다고 볼 수 있다. 2. 본(本) 실험(實驗)에 사용(使用)한 6개침출법(個浸出法)은 Fe-P와 상안(相關)이 없으므로 답토양유효인산정량법(容土壤有效燐酸定量法)으로 적합하지 않다. 3. 답토양유효인산(容土壤有效燐酸)에 적합한 침출법(浸出法)은 Fe-P계(系)의 환원강도(還元强度)를 측정(測定)할 수 있는 것이어야 하며 침출강도(浸出强度)는 평균(平均) 270 ppm 으로 추정(推定)된다. 4. Bray No. 2-p는 Lancaster-p, Spurway-p, Truog-p 및 (Ca+Al)-p와 5% 수준(水準) 이상(以上)에서 유의상관(有意相關)이 있고 Al-P는 Olsen-P 및 Lancaster-p와, Ca-p는 Spurway-p와 1% 수준(水準)에서 유의상관(有意相關)이 있다.

The fractions of protein, albumin, globulin, oryzenin, and prolamine extracted from 20 varieties of rice were determined, which include upland and paddy rice with both waxy and nonwaxy types. The protein content is higher in the waxy type and especially in upland rice. The content of oryzenin and albumin were likewise higher in the waxy and upland types. The results were discussed in the view point of nutrition. 한국산(韓國産) 벼 20품종(品種)(주(主)로 도입(導入) 품종(品種)) 즉 수륙도(水陸稻) 찹쌀 및 멥쌀 각(各) 5품종(品種)씩에 대하여 그 조단백질량(粗蛋白質量)과 각획분(各劃分) 단백질의 량(量)을 분석 검토하였다. 멥쌀보다 찹쌀 그리고 수도(水稻)보다 육도(陸稻)가 평균으로 단백질함량이 많았으며 oryzenin 과 albumin의 각(各) 함량비(含量比)도 같은 경향을 보였다.
대두(大豆) 단백질(蛋白質)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) 제2보[第二報]-7S Globulin중의 복합단백질(複合蛋白質)의 분리(分離) 및 그 구성(構成) Subunit에 대하여

대두(大豆)(Glycine max cultivar Gwang-gyo)의 각 성숙시기(成熟時期)에 나타나는 7S globulin을 분리하여 Davis 방법(方法)에 의한 전기영동과 PAWU용매에 의해서 유리(遊離)되는 그들의 subunit를 전기영동한 결과 7S globulin중의 복합단백질간(複合蛋白質間)에는 그 구성(構成) subunit에 유사성(類似性)이 있음을 시사하였다. 7S globulin의 복합단백질(複合蛋白質)을 DEAE-Sephadex A-50으로 크로마토그라피하여 분리하였다. 이때 pH 7.6의 인산완충액(燐酸緩衝液)에서 NaCl의 농도구배(濃度句配)가 0.28M부터 0.40M 사이에서 두 개의 분획(分劃)으로 분리되었다. 이들 명(名) 단백질(蛋白質)의 subunit를 5M urea와 1% SDS로 유리(遊離)시켜 7.5% acrylamide-PAWU gel과 5.6% acrylamide-SDS gel에서 전기영동하였다. 그 결과 subunit의 하전량(荷電量)에 의해서 분리되는 PAWU gel전기영동에서 7S globulin이 5개의 주 분리대로 분리되고 그중 2개의 분리대가 7S-A globulin과 7S-B globulin에 공유(共有)되어 있었다. 또 subunit의 분자량(分子量)에 따라서 분리되는 SDS gel 전기영동에서는 7S globulin이 7개의 주 분리대를 나타내는데 그 중에서 3개의 분리대가 7S-A와 7S-B 분획에 공유(共有)되어 있었다. 따라서 7S globulin의 복합단백질간(複合蛋白質間)에는 구성(構成) subunit간(間)에 유사성(類似性)이 있는 것으로 나타났다. The multiple 7S globulins composed of two fractions (A and B) in the electrophoresis with Davis' method were isolated at different stages of the soybean seed development. Electrophoresis of their subunits liberated in PAWU solvent [phenol-acetic acid-water (2 : 1 : 1) solution plus 5M urea] yielded 4 major bands. Observation of both the electrophoretic bands of the multiple 7S fractions(7S-A and 7S-B) and those of their subunits was suggestive of a similarity of the subunit pattern between two 7S fractions. The two fractions in multiple 7S globulins were isolated with DEAE-Sephadex A-50 column$(2.0{\sim}100cm)$ chromatography. They were separated into 2 fractions in a linear gradient concentration of 0.28 to 0.40M NaCl with phosphate buffer (pH 7.8) containing 10mM ${\beta}-mercaptoethanol$(ME). The isolated protein was dissociated into subunits with two different solvent systems; in PAWU solvent and in Tris-HCl buffer(pH 8.0) containing 1% sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and 40mM ME. The dissociated subunits were subjected to electrophoresis in PAWU-treated 7.5% acrylamide gel and in 1% SDS-treated 5.6% acrylamide gel. In PAWU gel electrophoresis, total 7S globulin was separated into 5 major bands, two of which were occupied in common by two 7S fractions(7S-A and 7S-B). In SDS gel electrophoresis, total 7S globulin was separated into 7 major bands, three of which were overlapped with the subunit of the two 7S fractions. The above results alluded us to the presence of a common and/or similar subunit between the multiple 7S globulins.

Recently, the precise cell separation method has great attentions in the bio-engineering research field with advancement of bio technology. The separation technique is applied to recognize particular cell from the suspension solution by specifying fluorescence light on a target material. In the present study, we separated the marker particles from the suspending particle mixture solution using isotachophoresis technique in the micro-channel. As a result, isotachophoresis zones were clearly visualized as going downstream in the electric field. The particle migration velocity has proportional to the applied voltage.
Variability of Protein Content in Rice Grown at Several Different Environments

Protein content of Korean native and currently recommended varieties varied from 5.3% to 9.4%. Higher protein content was shown in Indicas than Japonicas and generally in the earlier varieties than in the latter ones. Additional application of nitrogen significantly increased the protein content, and varietal difference in this response was noticed. Delayed harvesting reduced protein content and denser planting induced higher protein content in the brown rice.
