A slag building simplified model was developed to determine wall heat flux of a Shell 300 MW coal gasifier. In the model 4 layers(particulate, sintered, molten slag, solidified slag) were considered and mass conservation and energy balance were used to obtain each slag layer"s thickness and surface temperature. Thermo-chemical and fluid charateristics of the gasifier were studied with and without considering the slag model using commercial CFD code FLUENT. Consideration of the slag layer did not affect syn-gas mole fractions. However, the slag layer caused to increase the exit gas temperature by about 50 K.

Technology on gasification of co-gasification from mixed coal and biomass has been important. This paper performed computational fluid dynamics (CFD) on simulating gasifier from reaction constant of CO2 gasification with mixed coal and biomass. The results of CFD increased H2 higher blending ration of biomass, while decreased CO.

At the end of 1999, the TeraCluster Project in the KISTI Supercomputing Center was initiated to explore the possibility of PC clusters as a scientific computing platform to replace the Cray T3E system in KISTI by 2002. Since actual performance of a computing system varies significantly for different architectures, representative in-house codes from major application fields were executed to evaluate the actual performance of systems with different combination of CPU, network and network topology. As an example of practical CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulations, the flow past the Onera-M6 wing and the flow past a infinite wing were simulated on a clusters of Linux and several other hardware environments.

For proper wound healing, dermal contraction and remodeling are critical; during the natural healing process, differentiated fibroblasts called “myofibroblasts” typically undertake these functions. For severe wounds, however, a critical mass of dermal matrix and fibroblasts are lost, making self-regeneration impossible. To overcome this impairment, synthetic wound patches with embedded functional cells can be used to promote healing. In this study, we developed a polydioxanone (PDO)-based cell-embedded sheet on which dermal fibroblasts were cultured and induced for differentiation into myofibroblasts, whereby the following combinatorial physicochemical stimuli were also applied: aligned topology, electric field (EF), and growth factor. The results show that both the aligned topology and EF synergistically enhanced the expression of alpha smoothmuscle actin (α-SMA), a key myofibroblast marker. Our proof-of-concept (POC) experiments demonstrated the potential applicability of a myofibroblast-embedded PDO sheet as a wound patch.

웹의 발전과 더불어 웹 캐시 시스템의 중요성이 증대되면서, 다양한 구조의 웹 캐시 시스템이 제안되고 있으며 최근에는 Squirrel 과 같은 P2P 방식을 이용한 웹 캐시 시스템도 출현하였다. 본 논문에서는 Squirrel과 같은 일반적인 P2P 웹 캐시를 서브넷에 국한시킨 경우의 P2P 웹 캐시의 효용성을 분석한다. 이를 위하여, P2P 웹 캐시를 이용하는 사용자들의 웹 접근 성향을 웹 로그 트레이스로 시뮬레이션 하여, P2P 웹 캐시가 서브넷에서도 웹 캐시로서의 효용성이 있음을 보인다. 또한 현실적인 접근법으로써 중앙 프락시 서버를 두고 P2P 웹 캐시를 사용하는 경우에도 성능상의 효용성이 있음을 기술한다.
