Design and Performance Evaluation of Expansion Buffer Cache

VLIW 프로세서는 간단한 하드웨어 구조로 인해 저전력 및 고성능을 제공하여 임베디드 시스템에 매우 적합한 프로세서 구조로 인식되고 있다. 그러나 VLIW 프로세서는 동시에 수행 가능한 명령어들의 집합인 명령어 패킷 길이가 일정하지 않기 때문에 메모리 접근 지연 시간이 늘어나는 문제점을 안고 있다. 이는 가변 길이의 명령어 패킷으로 인해 일부 명령어 패킷이 두개의 캐쉬 블록에 걸쳐 있게 되고(스트래들 명령어 패킷), 이러한 명령어 패킷을 읽어 오기 위해 두 번의 캐쉬 접근이 요구되기 때문이다. 본 논문에서는 명령어 인출 대역폭을 높여줄 뿐만 아니라 명령어 캐쉬의 전력 소모를 낮춰주는 확장 버퍼 캐쉬를 제안한다. 확장 버퍼 캐쉬는 메인 캐쉬와 함께 스트래들 명령어 패킷의 일부를 저장하기 위한 소량의 확장 버퍼 캐쉬를 갖고 있으며 스트래들 명령어 패킷으로 인해 추가적으로 발생하는 캐쉬 접근을 줄여준다. 실험 결과 스트래들 명령어 패킷으로 인한 캐쉬 접근을 줄여 줌으로써 확장 버퍼 캐쉬는 기존 명령어 캐쉬에 비해 약 $5{\~}9{\%}$의 성능 전력${\cdot}$비용 향상을 가져옴을 확인할 수 있었다. VLIW processor is considered to be an appropriate processor for the embedded system, provided with high performance and low power con-sumption due to its simple hardware structure. Unfortunately, the VLIW processor often suffers from high memory access latency due to the variable length of I-packets, which consist of independent instructions to be issued in parallel. It is because of the variable I-packet length that some I-packets must be placed over two cache blocks, which are called straddle I-packets, so that two cache accesses are required to fetch such I-packets. In this paper, an expansion buffer cache is proposed to improve not only the instruction fetch bandwidth, but also the power consumption of the I-cache with moderate hardware cost. The expansion buffer cache has a small expansion buffer containing a fraction of a straddle packet along with the main cache to reduce the additional cache accesses due to the straddle I-packets. With a great reduction in the cache accesses due to the straddle packets, the expansion buffer cache can achieve $5{\~}9{\%}$improvement over the conventional I-caches in the $Delay{\cdot}Power{\cdot}Area$ metric.
네트워크 단절 개선을 위한 적응적 전달자 노드검색 기법

본 논문은 VANET에서 노드의 높은 이동성으로 인해 문제 되고 있는 네트워크 단절 문제를 개선하기 위한 네트워크 노드 검색 기법을 제안한다. VANET은 인프라의 도움 없이 차량 간 무선 통신을 기반으로 하는 다중 홉 방식의 애드혹 네트워크이며, 이는 기존 MANET과 매우 유사하다. 그러나 VANET은 고속의 이동성, 높은 노드 밀도, 잦은 토폴로지 변화 등의 특징으로 인해 네트워크 단절이 빈번하게 발생하며 네트워크 부하가 증가하는 문제를 가진다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 네트워크 단절을 해결하기 위해 적응형 전달노드 검색 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안하는 프로토콜은 브로드캐스팅을 통해 네트워크 단절 발생 시에만 선택적으로 위험지역 외의 영역에서 노드를 재 검색함으로써 네트워크 단절과 네트워크 부하를 줄여줄 수 있다. 실험 결과 제안하는 프로토콜은 기존 방식에 비해 21.2%~39.9%의 네트워크 단절 개선을 보였으며, 응급 메시지 수신율에서는 22.3%~41.9% 향상을 가져왔다. We propose a network node search scheme to address the network fragmentation due to high node mobility in the VANET. VANET is very similar to MANET in that a multi-hop ad-hoc network is configured by wireless communication between vehicles without any network infrastructure. However, high speed mobility, high node density, and frequent topology change induce frequent network fragmentation so that overall network traffic can be increased. In this paper, new broadcasting protocol called an adaptive relay node search protocol is proposed to decrease the network fragmentation. It reduces the network fragmentation and network traffic by researching nodes outside the dangerous area only in case of network fragmentation. Simulation results show that the proposed protocol decreases network fragmentation by up to 39.9% and increase informed rate by up to 41.9% compared to the existing broadcasting protocol.

Methods for the manufacture, erection, and assembly of heavy frame modules were proposed. Interferences among precast members were prevented by using bolted metal plates for dry precast beam-to-column joints during assembly with a clearance for tolerance implementing grouted concrete filler plates instead of metal filler plates. Clearances for tolerances were provided to avoid conflictions among components during erection phases. These gaps were, then, grouted by high-strength mortar. The constructability of new connections of a beam-to-column joint using bolted metal plates for precast structures was examined using a full-scale assembly test in which practical observations indicated that members could be aligned and placed accurately in both horizontal and vertical directions, leading to a fast and convenient assembling. Bolt holes of the endplate were properly aligned using couplers with 30 mm fastened length embedded in the columns. The assembly test demonstrated the erection safety and structural stability of the proposed joints that were without filler plates when they were subjected to heavy loads at the time of their erection. The facile and rapid assembly of precast beam-to-column connections with a 30 mm tolerance was observed. The proposed assembly method is rapid, sustainable, and resilient, replacing the conventional methods of concrete frame construction, offering a connection that can be used in constructing infrastructure, such as buildings and pipe-rack frames.
Design and Evaluation of Telematics User Interface for Ubiquitous Vehicle

In the ubiquitous computing environment, a ubiquitous vehicle will be a communication node in the vehicular network as well as the means of ground transportation. It will make humans and vehicles seamlessly and remotely connected. Especially, one of the prominent services in the ubiquitous vehicle is the vehicle remote operation. However, mutual-collaboration with the in-vehicle communication network, the vehicle-to-vehicle communication network and the vehicle-to-roadside communication network is required to provide vehicle remote operation services. In this paper, an Internet-based human-vehicle interfaces and a network architecture is presented to provide remote vehicle control and diagnosis services. The performance of the proposed system is evaluated through a design and implementation in terms of the round trip time taken to get a vehicle remote operation service.
무선 센서 네트워크 기반의 차량 검지 시스템을 위한 교통신호제어 기법

A traffic detection system is a device that collects traffic information around an intersection. Most existing traffic detection systems provide very limited traffic information for signal control due to the restriction of vehicle detection area. A signal control scheme determines the transition among signal phases and the time that a phase lasts for. However, the existing signal control scheme do not resolve the traffic congestion effectively since they use restricted traffic information. In this paper, a new traffic detection system with a zone division signal control scheme is proposed to provide correct and detail traffic information and decrease the vehicle"s waiting time at the intersection. The traffic detection system obtains traffic information in a way of vehicle-to-roadside communication between vehicles and sensor network. A new signal control scheme is built to exploit the sufficient traffic information provided by the proposed traffic detection system efficiently. Simulation results show that the proposed signal control scheme has 121 % and 56 % lower waiting time and delay time of vehicles at an intersection than other fuzzy signal control scheme.
