        The internet is more than just another communication device. It is newly developed space with power to give rise to novel form of international trade. This paper is to identify issues of international trade using cyber concept like internet at the three levels. First of all, we clarified the concept of 'cyber trade' by comparison EDI trade, internet trade, and electronic trade concepts. And then we pointed out the changed strategic formula in the trade environment from cyber space, which the drived factors are developed at the eight: market morphology; location of production; market principle; customer power; characteristics of transaction information; mass customization; marketing strategy; and transaction cost. The trade procedure was described by 6 steps through cyber trade : market research R cyber marketing R cyber contracts R cyber customs R cyber payments R cyber transportation. These were explained in view of the issues and strategies steps.

      • 서비스 경영전략이론에 관한 고찰 : Theory and Strategy

        Nowadays, service management is a critical issue in terms of satisfying customer needs to both the product-oriented companies and the service-oriented companies. For satisfying this goal, the strategic issue firms should take is to set a communication between customers and firms. But most companies are focused on marketing skills as strategy without service management concept even though service would be largely portioned in their size. The narrow views like this lead them to push their efforts into the productivity upon their products. The perspectives of service management are taken in two ways. One is to be on customers, the other is to be on service employees. And we explained the servuction system as a process which products services, 7Ps as a service marketing concept which is added to 4Ps, 3 triangle as a core context of service management namely, Internal marketing, external marketing, and interactive marketing, These concepts are converged into the three perspectives of service management, which is marketing, human resource, and operation리 views, and stretched to strategic issues in the positioning and generic strategies for service firms. In this research, we argue that a business perspective of service firms should recognize differently in that of manufacturing firms. This study will be helpful to get understand the service management.

      • 중국 자동차산업의 성장과 전망

        Globalization has directly affected the world's auto industry and has accelerated its reorganization. China is in the middle of this change. China's auto industry has been expriencing a dynamic development. Recently most foreign car giants announce aggressive production plans in China, mainly through joint ventures. China has the possibility of rapid expansion of car market with its hugs popualtion, cheap labour cost, rapid economic growth, and joining the WTO. At the same time, China has also risks mainly becuse auto supply might be overflown and there will be mounting pressure on manufactures to lower prices. According to some statistics, China's passenger car market will increase 23% CAGR in capacity during the period of 2003-08, but demand growth slow down to 15& CAGR in the same period. That means price war will bigin sooner or later in the Chiness market. The pressure on export sales will be a major concern auto makers. This paper analyzes the process of development of China's auto industry and argues that we overlook the threats and constraints that China's auto industry will face.

      • 동북아시아 경제통합의 현황과 전망 : Development and Prospects

        Since the early 1990s, regional economic integration has been proceeded differently in terms of speed and contents in three different regions in the world: Europe, America, and East Asis. Among these, economic integration in Europe is the most developed one. European Union (EU) plans to receive 10 new members on May 2004 and will continue to expand to Eastern Europe and even countries of CIS, aiming at "wider Europe." In America, after a long struggle between North and Central America for controling power and interests, efforts have been made for the establishment of Free Trade Area in America (FTAA). Several agreements on FTA between countries in this region will work as a catalyst in establishing FTAA. In Asia, Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) has keen interests on economic integration. FTA is also a major concern for some Middle East countries. In Northeast Asia, discussions on FTA among South Korea, Japan, and China have been actively made for the last few years. The major concern of Asian economic integration focuses now on how South Korea, Japan, China, India, and ASEAN could narrow down their differences and make a consensus on FTA. In particular, as South Korea and Japan agree that they will establish FTA until 2004, it would give new impetus for East Asian economic integration. This paper will examine the possibility of free trade area among South Korea, Japan, and China. On the basis of this, this paper will predict the possibility of Northeast Asian economic integration. This paper will also provide policy recommendations with the South Korean government on the future of FTA in this region. First, economic integration is not a matter of choice, but an inevitable road for us. Therefore, we need thorough preparation and concrete strategy for our weak industries--agriculture in the case of FTA with Chile and China, and automobile and electronics industry in the case of FTA with Japan. Second, we have to think about what should be our priority in dealing with those countries. Our policy should be very flexible, responding appropriately to the initiative of other countries. But, we don't have to be too hasty for the early establishment of FTA with countries in this region. Last, but not least, we should not ignore the fact that economic integration could alter the dynamics of international politics.

      • 세계 자동차산업의 재편과정과 전망

        The world automobile industry is experiencing an unprecedented scale of change in the 1990's. The impact of the mega-merger between Daimler and Chrysler on the automobile industries in the world was huge. It triggered a series of the tie-ups beyond national borders. Then what was it that enable such a mega-merger to take place? First of all, it was due to the rise and fall of the Japanese automobile industry. Second, American and European automobile companies established the globalization strategies based on the economies of scale. Under these strategies, the automobile industry pursued development and component purchases at a global level. Then what is the direction of globalization? One is adopting a strategy based on scale merit and the other is choosing a strategy of a flexible production system that able to respond to any changes. The reorganization of world automobile industry is not ended. Now the wave of the globalization has directly affected the world automobile industry and has accelerated the global reorganization of it.
