Vol.32 No.3

As the subject of this study, dance is the structural dance in which the dance is its purpose. In other words, for the representation of individuality, the subjectivity of dance is the dance in which the self of wholeness is participating in the attention, mental state, and direction of thought. And the dance is perceived in the representation structure of individuality. In the dance structure of self-understanding, the attention, mental state, and direction of thought aim for self-awareness as wholeness that recognizes oneself and unconsciousness as they are. When the recognition structure of individuality is explained as the introspection in a group of different individualities, the dance structure of introspection shall be the dance act process in which the gap between individualities could be realized (self-understood) in a group composed of individuals with individuality. The contemporary dance with insight and sufficient good will suggested the community dance sharing the structure of dance that would pay attention to one’s own spirit, rather than presenting the best dance for directing the direction of thought or having the advanced mental state. Community dance is presented as the dance sharing system, instead of distorted and misused word for a long time, and the method to realize the structure had to be flexible according to the consciousness of times, region, and object.

Vol.26 No.3

Community dance is a performance art form that crosses over genre, and understanding it from a cultural viewpoint is finding meaning and structure of dance that exists as an ideological text. A person is able to connect personal senses with social sentiments and find the meaning and effect in historically hidden structure only after perceiving the dance as a communication medium of transdisciplinary, genre-crossover and cultural practice behavior. Community dance is not an instrument that sets standardized problems seeking hackneyed answers of formality, nor is it an instrument that offers response or results to presented problems. Rather, it takes those problems sets apart and embraces the communal character of the cultural practice behavior that is becoming more standardized and institutionalized. This study has established the purpose of exploring the effects of community dance as a communication medium and come to the following conclusions, with regarding to identity and signification. In the center of the structure where community dance creates meaning lies a human body, and as such, it is a structure that expresses thoughts and will of practice through movement. Accordingly, community dance functions as a cultural text and communication medium. The communication system of community dance prioritizes the equality of what is being communicated rather than the people doing the communicating. If the equality of communicating people implies unidirectional change or learning, the equality of communication itself denotes a system of dynamic networks in symmetry. Community dance is not a text of enigma with hidden meanings but is that of a complex semantic structure. Therefore, instead of exploiting it as a tool that brings fulfillment or effect, it can be better applied to discovering the process of hidden signification that has never been seen before. Community dance is a space for minor discourse found in discord that connects decisions of the past and the happenings of now and desire and information, and the embodiment of communal character of this age. Applying community dance as a communication medium is a process that creates minor discourse in conflicting relationship and the meaning of communal character of this age.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the differences of evolution concepts used in non-biological fields. The high school students and teachers were also asked about how they understand the evolution concepts used in non-biological field through questionnaires and interview. The results are as follows: First, the study shows that both teachers and students regard evolution as changes in the course of process and also as something that takes place through variation and selection. However, the teachers and students think that the non-biological evolution takes place in comparatively shorter time, and it has certain fixed directions. Also, it is thought that evolution is caused by artificial selection and acquired traits are delivered to the next generations. Second, the evolution concepts were mainly used to indicate development or advance. It is also interpreted to evolve by needs step by step towards the intended goal by the whole group. Therefore, if the students are given a lecture that tells them clear differences between biological and non-biological evolution concepts, it will help students understand the concepts of evolution in biology better.

Vol.30 No.3

This study interprets dance as a kind of emotional expressions contemporary individuals perform as to the world they face. In that light, the study presupposes the body in dance as the agent of expression and the place for storing assimilated memories, and assumes dance as a way to put into action the contemporary ideology. Furthermore, the study presents the function of communality as a core value of the ideology in the process of discovering the phenomenon of contemporary dance in the community dance organization and awarding the meaning of dance to the act. The body in contemporary dance integrates all perceptions and experiences into a single, distinctive stream of world view. Thus, contemporary dance is the self-expression of body as a cultural memory involved in sensing. As a core value of contemporaneous community dance, communality serves to acquire the skill to render into action the body as a cultural memory that distinctively senses the world and free spirit.

Vol.27 No.3

The study on the relationship between the communication system of dance and cultural phenomena concerns the cultural factors that are involved in the interpretation of symbolic images of dance. The relationship between the method of dance interpretation (or reading) within the context of artistic com-munication and the symbolism and culture in the area of visual culture reading was discussed by exploring the factors that serve as cultural variables in the symbolic images of dance to derive the following conclusion: The communication of contemporary dance does not pursue to create new forms or contents of dance or find a target of communication to choose or develop the right communication media through an expansion. Rather, it believes that accessibility of dance as a form of art is the expansion of com-munication, and it is displayed as a cultural phenomenon that is analyzed, interpreted, recorded, or remembered. Dance is examined through cultural phenomena not with knowledge or decoding, but with individual psychology. In the end, the meaning and value of dance are internally created when individuals` different psychology form a community (or group). This is perceived as a cultural phenomenon that shows the relativity of factors on which the activities of ideology works essentially on the system of symbols. Contemporary dance is involved in the groups (or communities) of mankind and the different identities of their members. Therefore, the iconological in-terpretation of dance is examining the scope and contents of dance through cultural phenomenon as the cultural variables that occur in dance as a form of sensual images for perception due to regional and emotional differences, beyond the expression and style of dance. In this respect, the iconological interpretation is not about reproducing what is seen, but seeing what was not seen or felt before and giving meaning to it to ask traditional and his-torical questions about the image of dance and the determination to analyze and diagnose its correlation with the present to accept the endless chain of meaning generated in the interpretation of dance for culture.

Vol.25 No.1

With the goal-directed behavior viewed as the task of the times, the contents of the study on the complexity of the participatory dance in ‘the community dance,’ which aims to explore and present the position and the meaning of dance in the form of life of the individuals, are as follows. The community dance means the dance that exists in the contemporary life that shares the problems of humankind, and that exists in the different forms and appearances with different reasons and purposes according to regions. The network knowledge of the ‘age of net’ always provides diverse opportunities and models, and the opportunities and models are as diverse as the imaginations (applications) of the individuals, so it is possible for anyone to take an inner mental experience through the dance. This is the accessibility of the community dance. The complexity in the participatory dance refers to the interrelation between the advantages of the participation system, the degree of the development of potential functions of the dance and the systematic advantages. The dance develops sensory skills and symbol skills. And the direct experiences in such inner goals are not for the sake of self-satisfaction but for the sake of self-perfecting to contribute more progressively to the common benefits of humankind. The amateur dance focuses more on experiences than on achievements, and places more emphasis on subjective rewards, which can be obtained in the process of the dance, than on the achievement levels of the individuals. The participatory dance in the community dance is the dance of direct experiences aiming at inner experiences. In the participatory dance, the sensory skill is the ability to recognize the independent being different from me, and the symbol skill is the imagination to become something else other than me. The expression techniques of the participatory dance are the high quality inner experiences that enable one to reach consideration beyond the tolerance that recognizes diversity and difference.
